oh believe me, two 12s is plenty of headroom in a house. I have two 12s ported to 24 hz I think, off of 500 watts, and it will shake the whole house and knock things over in the bathroom.

This week is going to be boring if my boss doesn't give me more work like I requested.

I say just stick with the Shiva-x. Then you can spend the extra money on trying out new boxes (sealed, ported low, larger box size, etc.) to find the one you really like. Two 12s and 1000 watts will have plenty of output for a normal-sized living room. In fact I doubt you'll ever even use half of their capability while watching movies and things.

On my way home from work I saw a semi truck coming towards me in the other lane with white smoke pouring out the back of it. Hmm. As I got closer I could hear a loud EEEEEERRRRRRRRR, then I saw the black lines coming from the rear tires of another semi truck riding piggyback. Then came the smell of burning rubber as I passed by. Ruined tires for forgetting to unlock the axle FTL. By the looks of it he had just pulled out of a driveway about 200' back and he had ripped up lines in the gravel driveway as well.

IA 20.1, Sundown 2000 (Or a couple strapped saz-1000s if you can't wait), or US Amps MD3D?

Pretty sure that doesn't matter at all. Thanks for not helping yet again. Pretty sure you don't understand wire length and resistance, as mentioned above.

Oh sure, the HOP dies after I post in it.

THATS WHAT SHE SAID!!!! I watched part of "Employee of the Month" yesterday so Jessica Simpson has been on the brain a little. Then when I thought of looking underneath my Explorer I thought of that line of hers in "Dukes of Hazzard." I found what it was, btw. I think, anyways. A clip that holds three of my leaf springs together had gotten loose. It was as if the springs spread and stretched out the ring and then retracted back together, but the ring was still big. So it just kinda jumps around as I go over bumps. I hammered it tight back off to one side, but I don't really think it'll stay forever.

One problem is I'm cheap when it comes to drugs. I will not pay $1 a pill. Claritin D's active ingredient is loratadine, which works ok but not great in the generic pills I've taken.

$500 sounds good. But don't be surprised if you have to lower it to sell it.

Gonna go see if I can find what rattles in my rear undercarriage.

Did you look at the power chart in those boxes? Power handling below 30-35 hz will be drastically reduced in boxes that large, at times to almost only half. So while you may gain 10-20 hz output, you'll lose a bit in everything above there. Which is a tradeoff you have to decide on I guess. As for modeling, I'd first look at manufacturer's recommendations. Since you want low stuff it's better to go towards the higher end of their box size spectrum. But just remember that while larger boxes are more efficient, they lower the mechanical power handling. So you may have to be careful with the power you have (or going to have).

I was wondering the same thing. It sounds made up.

We went mudding for a hot second in my gf's dad's '60 Jeep Willy yesterday. We basically splashed through some wet soil. We were a little worried about taking it too far or going on the bigger inclines that her cousin ripped across in his like '00 Wrangler.

I've never had them either. My wives are terrible and being pregnant she can't take any meds. First time in my life I have ever taken Nyquil, and it was the only thing that let me sleep. Benadryl & Chloratrimetron are the only two meds that do anything for me, but Benadryl can zombify you a bit. Target has a "sleep aid": max strength, it's a tiny blue liquid gel with the same stuff as benadryl. 1 liquid gel is the same dose as extra strength benadryl. It is nice and fast, and you don't have to drink some gross fluid. I think I'm going to order a case of ephedra. Canada has some places that will ship here. It's the only thing that reliably gets rid of every sympton and didn't make me high. Works on colds and hang overs too. The branchiodialation is great. Sinuses clear out and it stops the pressue and itch. This itchy eye thing is insane. I never imagined alergies would be this horrible, without any cure. Have you tried zyrtek? I like it more than benadryl, as I don't get as sleepy. I've tried about 4-5 medicines and they can get rid of everything but the itchy/dry eyes. Luckily it seems whatever i'm allergic to the most has finished doing its thing, as my eyes have been better the last month or so.

Sudafed works decently for me and. Benadryl makes me hella sleepy.

How much would this help
KU40 replied to davidg121's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Upgrading those wires will help, as will the power wire to the amplifier. A better battery will also be a noticeable improvement. The 110 amp alternator should be sufficient. You can also shave some strands off of the power wire if it won't fit into the amplifier's terminal. For power and ground wires, overkill is preferred. -
If you are doing it just for competitions, you'll want to tune higher, like 45 hz. But if you actually want to listen to it on a daily basis and not have it sound like a one-note wonder (but lose some SPL), tune to 32-35 hz. But if you want it to provide the MOST SPL, that will take a lot of trial and error with box design, vehicle setup, and a meter.

I've never heard the Shiva-X, but the Dayton Titanic is a very capable sub. But I question why you put it in such a huge box? I set up a system for a friend with the 12" version and put it in like a 2.5 cube box tuned to 25 or so, and it was great. Also, DO NOT take winISDs SPL graphs literally. Those graphs do not predict in-home numbers in the slightest. Third, the port lengths that winISD gives you is for EACH port. so if it says 21.67 inches, each of your two eight inch ports have to be 21.67 inches.
-
well 750 watts is over the power rating of the sub, 600 watts, so you'd have to be careful of thermal failure at that power as well.

I fail to see what he did wrong. now you can't disagree with people on a forum? Yes you can. Certainly didn't look like a 'regular' way of expressing his dissagreement (sp?) though Yeah. Attack the idea, not the person.

Pretty decent sized one? Houston was pretty overmatched, it was just up to the Lakers to pull it together.

It's quite ironic since the MDF is essentially sawdust bonded with adhesive.. You'd think it would be stronger due to the heat and pressure used in the manufacturing process. Perhaps they use a less quality adhesive in the MDF than the wood glue we use for joints?
-
I might be able to set up and break some MDF with and without resin at work and be able to show load vs displacement plots and actual numbers. But would anyone really pay care or would they just go on thinking that bubba joe that they know is right? If you can document the test and show it on here, maybe with a video or pictures of the test results on the computer screen, people will believe.

I think you would be much better off with the Rockford, if not the sundown, if you're going to abuse them in competitions.
