Laptop Woes (Help Me!)
KU40 replied to Maddenkid2011's topic in Computers / Electronics / Music / Games
I had that message pop up on my laptop a few weeks ago. You can see the thread I made about it on here. Jumping to the end- I ended up buying a new Dell desktop. -
Whoops, yeah I meant can.

Too loud? Nonsense, poopypants!

well im using areos so i can change the tuning but will only b able to drop it to 34 cause of depth of box got any videos? You can't put a 90 degree turn on aeroports, just like slot ports. Therefore depth of the box shouldn't be an issue.

So the old box was sealed? A bit unfair to judge a sealed box against a ported box. *Not dissing on Audio Innovations' build skills*

Need some advice on phase switch setting
KU40 replied to Sir-Lancelot's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The way it sounds, you won't damage the speakers at all. If the subs are in separate chambers, there is no way to damage a speaker with any phase setting. If they are in the same chamber, you just want to make sure the phase is the same on both. If they both move outwards at the same time, you're fine. How do you have the wires ran through the box? Is it possible you grabbed like the positive from one sub and the negative from the other sub and hooked them to the same amplifier? Or have the positive and negative wires switched around at the amp for one sub? It's kinda strange that by switching both to 180 it works better, since that is essentially the same as having them both set to 0 with respect to how they perform relative to each other. The only problem with output should be when one is at 0 and the other at 180. -
You may want to shore up that thin sheet metal that sits behind the seats. Even though there are no holes, that stuff flexes and vibrates like crazy.

I agree, but on the page it says "Rugged, good-sounding dual voice coil drivers especially suitable for automotive subwoofer applications." I don't see much about that woofer that makes it a good woofer choice for in-car either. It may be decent for home audio for monster midbass with a dedicated subwoofer also in the system, but it's a bit difficult and impractical to build an enclosure for a 12" speaker in a vehicle that isn't being used as a subwoofer

You aren't understanding what he's saying. The subsonic filter on the amp can be used as a highpass filter for the mids at 80 hz, or whatever. The subsonic on the 50.4 goes up to 500 hz, and I'm guessing is 12 db/octave. To the OP, you have the crossovers switched around. You'd want to highpass the tweeters at 3k and lowpass the mids at 3k. I understand that. I'm just wondering why you would use the subsonic Filter as a High Pass Filter when it has a High Pass Filter already? Because you want to bandpass the mid. The mid needs a highpass at 80 hz or so and a lowpass at 3000 hz or so. You only use the actual highpass filter for the tweeters on channels 3 & 4. And as freat said, you can't use both highpass and lowpass on the same set of channels at the same time.

What are the specs on the two boxes?

Well, time to go eat a little something and then go bass fishing. Have to warm up a bit for the fishing/camping trip this weekend out at my grandparents' farm. Farm ponds = easy pickings!

That trailer looks funny with the axles so far back.

Those things look so itty bitty, haha.
-
Man it seems like you have the worst mechanical luck. Remind me to never let you near my car or house! haha.

With a frequency response of 40-700 hz and an fs of 50 hz, I'd hardly call that a subwoofer.

Umm with only 7k watts, I'd just run the two 18s. With "just" 7000 watts? How much power do you think these subs need? I'll give you a hint- it's definitely not 3500 apiece. Up at that power range you run into a lot more power compression if you try to dump the extra power into each sub than you would if you spread it over four subs. So my vote is four.

Upgrading wires does not increase power capability of the charging system. It merely prevents loss from resistance from the wire.

According to a poll, 37% of adults eat baby food in a week.

The first bowl of Raisin Bran from the box sucks because all of the raisins shift downward so all I got was flakes and about 3 raisins. Woke up with another cramp in my right calf last night, but at least it wasn't as bad as the one a week ago.

x infinity The only good thing about the woman living out of town, I only shave once a week. That would be nice, except I have a decent amount of facial hair that grows at a decent rate and it annoys me after 2 days.

I just received an email notification saying the item has been shipped with tracking information for a thing I ordered for my gf's birthday. Only problem is that I received the box 5 days ago. Hmm, slow sending email much?

Not to diss on you, but you could have written the formula yourself in as much time as it took to write up this thread. =.159*(sqrt((A*(1.84*10^8))/(B*(C+.823*(sqrt(A)))))) Replace A, B, and C with the references in the formula. Hint- make them cell references and plug the corresponding values into those cells.
