Had an ok day. Went fishing this morning in beautiful weather, about 68* but a bit windy (Hell for the middle of July in Kansas, I'll take that temperature no matter the wind). Only caught one little bass in the two hours I was out, but it was worth it. Then I went and bought some protein powder to try and help me gain weight and make my little home workouts a little more productive, got the keys to my new place and checked it out for the first time, then came home and worked out. Now it's time to grill some steaks!

What is the box tuned to? If it's tuned for daily driving, increasing the tuning frequency by a couple hertz will probably get you over the hump.

The RMS of the BLs is 1000, so 1000-1100 watts per sub is perfectly fine. No need to put 1500 on them. You could even just do one SAZ3500.

Excursion is different in ported boxes than sealed boxes. If you're playing a 30 hz tone, the sub will move a lot in a sealed box but basically not at all in a ported box tuned to 28 hz.

i looked but couldnt find it

Hook up the oscope inputs to the outputs of the amplifier, play a 50 hz test tone, turn up amplifier gain until the tops of the sine waves on the oscope get chopped off. -
I haven't. But all may not be lost. I smoked an Alpine sub like 10 years ago and I took it into the shop I bought it from, and they just put a new sub in there at no charge. I was surprised.

Had three straight 11 hour outside work days at the beginning of the week, hence my absence (if anybody noticed). Tuesday was the killer, it was like 105 with at least 115 heat index because the humidity was so high (had rained that morning and did again that night). I got so hot it kinda made me nauseous and I didn't eat any supper. Well, it coulda been that or the pound of parmesan cheese that the lady put on my meatball marinara from Subway that I had for lunch. I don't know what she was thinking. It was like 1/2" thick on there. Pretty sure I lost about 5 pounds that day. Yesterday was about perfect, though, it only got up to 85 or so and was cloudy. But no work tomorrow, hooray for me. My new apartment place called and said I could come get the keys to my new place and move in whenever I want at no charge, even though my lease doesn't start until the first of August. Wicked. Maybe I'll go there and lay by the pool and check out the chicks. Hopefully they aren't all 60.

How about California? Heard on the radio that they have amended their constitution like 550 times in their 130 year history.

You can always make it fit!

rear rca output?
KU40 replied to Lucky 76's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yes -
Yeah I was going to say the same thing. If you just want a new tweeter, call Polk.
-
Yeah you messed up one of the voice coils. The only way to fix it is to send it in for a recone.

For all the Haterz
KU40 replied to USAMPFREAK's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
JBL did a similar thing with their big crown amp a few years ago. I think they used it to power a sawzall or something like that. I don't understand why you guys have issues with this, it's not like you haven't thought hmm I wonder if I can take this thing and use it for a completely different purpose than for what it was designed. -
Um, for what equipment? But chances are you'd be best off just facing them all forward and sealing off the trunk behind the front baffle.
-
It also depends on if the subs can handle the power increase. If you have a 2000 watt sub and want to increase the power to it from 2000 to 3400, I don't think you'll get the +2db that the +3db for doubling of power rule would provide, due to power compression (if the sub could even take the extra power mechanically or thermally). But if you had like a 4000 watt capable sub and jumped from 2000 to 3400, I think you'd see the gain. At least on the meter. Whether you'd still hear it, I don't know.

Component Set Impedance?
KU40 replied to tech2332's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Each driver in the component system should be 4 ohms. Since they aren't playing the same frequencies (for the most part), their impedances don't add together. It's basically like just having one speaker. As for the 4 channel amplifier, yes you can run the two sets of outputs at different impedances. -
What in the video made the dcon look impressive? But I'd probably choose the single 12" Icon ported.

Played Halo and Rainbow 6 last night with a friend. It's surprising how therapeutic shooting bad guys is after a breakup.

I'd go fishing in this light rain, but every once in a while there's a rumble of thunder. Don't really want to be standing on a shore with lightning anywhere close.

I don't think it makes sense to have a manager with 0-1 years of experience (no offense). You have to work your way up, IMO.
-
That would be 9.1 cubes before port and sub displacement (and bracing). So you should be ok. What port do you have in mind?
-
I think the 12" would be louder on the mic. But the 15" would have a smoother frequency response.
-
I say something like 4 cubes at 30 hz.
