Make some wooden pieces to go between the enclosure and the vehicle side and top walls even with the front baffle. That will seal the subs (I assume you're firing forward) from the rest of the trunk, which effectively lowers the amount of air that the subs have to pressurize in the vehicle. Then use some expanding foam or something to fill in the holes that the wood doesn't quite fill.

Are you sure? It sure looks like something leather is tucked underneath your arm. Hmm..... haha haha manbag. I guess it's better than the fanny pack. Well, maybe not. Fanny packs make you look goofy, but a manbag would make you seem quite feminine. I'd rather be goofy anyday. '

got pics of the lil lady? is that what u were working on? Photos of an entertainment center that is mostly built... We didn't do any CNC plasma work on sheet metal with it, decided to go a different route. But I still think it looks pretty sweet oh and i sry i thought KU posted this thats why i mentioned the lil lady I'll get pics someday. She has some on Facebook, I just A) don't want to jinx it, and B) would rather make my own. That way you all could see my beautiful face as well.

I got notice today that my TV came a week early as well, so you know I was hustling over to Nebraska Furniture Mart to get it. But on the way I get on the toll road and was like wait a minute, something's wrong. I forgot my wallet. Luckily I had the required $1.45 in change for that trip and the way back. Otherwise I don't know what they'd do, make me pull over at the toll booth and walk back 20 miles to Lawrence to get money? Then I was worried that Nebraska Furniture Mart would want to see my ID to let me have my stuff since IIRC they did when I picked up my couch. Well I hoped the state ID badge I keep in my truck and my vehicle registration would do. But they didn't ask. So that worked out. Of course I got the entertainment center set up tonight. Pics coming tomorrow.

Moved to general audio. Is there anything else you should be doing to achieve what goal?

The lunch date was fantastic. Asked for another meeting and she agreed. Calling her in....what's the standard? 3 days? haha.

Dual 1 ohm coils. His options are .5 or 2 ohms per sub and channel on the amp.

4awg power cable fuse keeps blowing

That still doesn't really help. Model numbers of amp and sub, voice coil impedance, and whether the voice coils were wired in series or parallel would be more helpful. -
I was channel flipping last night and just happened to come across Ben Bernake (Fed Reserve Chairman) on the public access channel giving a question/answer session with citizens at the Federal reserve bank in Kansas City. I caught it a little bit late, but here is what I gathered: Ben Bernake is smarter than nearly all of us give him credit for. Basically every average Joe in America who has a pessimistic opinion about the state of the economy, how it got there, and what's being done about it is listening to misinformation. This included me, to some extent. This interview opened my eyes, probably similar to how T's government class did. This recession was caused, in large part, to the failures of Bear Sterns, Lehmen Brothers, AIG, etc., all of the "too big to fail" financial companies. Their failures sent ripples through the economy. The Fed and government knew this, which is why they tried to save them. But these companies just had 50 billion dollar holes that were impossible to fill. Companies simply cannot become too big to fail. Bernake supports letting them fail if they will, but it needs to be done more slowly so that the company can be dismantled piece-by-piece, thus causing a far less detrimental shock to the system. There was no policy in effect to do this when those places failed. That's why they created them this year. The Great Depression of the 30s was caused by the stock market crash of 1929 and the Fed's terrible response to it. At that time there were traditional ways of thinking on how to fix these things, and they went by the book (which was written wrong to begin with) and tightened money. This caused thousands of banks to fail, which, if it had been avoided by the government stepping in, would have erased the depression from the history books. Bernake said recessions take outside the box thinking, which is probably why some of the policies implemented today seem strange to a lot of people. Bernake wrote a large research paper (maybe his master's thesis? I can't remember) on the Depression, and he said he never thought it would help him as much as it is right now. The idea of congressional auditing of the fed has been thrown around, and I think a bill being presented in the house right now deals with this. This would be a very bad idea. This auditing has nothing to do with opening the fed's accounting books to congress, they already do that. This bill would give congress veto powers over each decision that the Fed makes. It's very important that the Fed stay an independent entity. It would be very bad if congress controlled monetary policy. GDP has to grow by 2% per year just to keep up with the current work force plus the new, incoming first-time job seekers just to keep unemployment stationary. This is why unemployment always continues to rise after a recession is technically over, and why everybody who says that the economy won't get better until unemployment gets better and people have money to spend are wrong. This is why unemployment generally peaks even after a recession is over, and why it will do the same this time around. He predicts a little over 10% in January-February of next year. People don't fully understand the bailout. It was not the Fed's idea, and they really have nothing to do with it. Only 25% of it is allocated to be given out this year, most is going out next year. Bernake has a plan to curb inflation due to the bailout, which is basically just ease interest rates back up in the coming years. He is quite confident this can be done effectively. Also, the bailout is a loan, not a gift. Many people think we the taxpayer will be paying for this for years and years with higher taxes, etc., but that's just not true.

Has he thought about taking the rear speakers out to give some holes into the trunk? He could also extend the ports from a ported or bandpass box up into those holes so that they have a direct firing line into the cab. Some people also cut extra holes in the back deck when faced with this problem, but I don't know anybody who would want to cut into a Jag.

what voice coil configuration did you get with the sub? How is it wired to the amp? But if it does it with the sub not connected, tirefryer's right and your amp is likely toast unless your power wire is cut a little somewhere and grounding out to metal in the car. -
Ported. You'll want all the extra efficiency you can get after stepping down from 12s to 8s.

You mean because they have better retirements set up than most americans and won't have to basically live off of social security like many people? Or that they won't ever be on welfare? Well of course not.

How am I supposed to know you if you like silk or metal tweeters better? Go listen to some at a shop. You don't want big dips or peaks in the frequency response graph, and you want it fairly flat from probably 60-20,000 hz. Granted how it sounds with the acoustics of your vehicle will change the response in some areas, at least it would start out with a good baseline. Just match up power of the speakers with the power of the amplifier, just like subs.

Oh ok. Well, maybe you will want to double baffle her up, ha.

I would choose two 12s.

I find it very hard to believe, and to me the stock market is artificially inflated. Makes you wonder about the whole stimulus mess, barely any of the money (5% or so) has made it out to the people and yet the economy is fixed? I don't believe it. Historically the stock market begins its rebound 6 months before a recession officially ends, which fits with the late '09, early '10 forecast. I thought the market was inflated two weeks ago so I bought some short shares, and lost on that bet. Maybe I just didn't wait long enough, I'm not sure. But it seems hard to argue with the GDP numbers reported today. The stock market always jumps ahead of these things while unemployment always lags. But whether this really is one of those artificial highs, I don't know. Who does, though. I was definitely a pessimistic marketeer for the last 1.5 months, but the last two weeks have turned me more optimistic. The company earnings reporting season that we're going through now beat estimates for the most part. Whether that was just due to cutting the workforce and making more profit that way, I'm not sure. I doubt sales actually went up that much. I guess we'll know a lot more in 3 months when 3rd quarter earnings come out. You can't have layoffs count for two quarters.

The predictions over here is that it will still continue At least for the second half of 09. But if things start moving along in the us, I hope they will start to move along everywhere. Well I guess I should have been more specific. The recession isn't over yet, they're predicting late '09 or early '10 for the technical end of the recession, that being GDP change is positive. I was just commenting on the news being less negative. The analysts predicted a 1.5% drop in U.S. GDP for the 2nd quarter, it was only 1.1% as they reported today. Quite better than the 5.5% drop in the first quarter of this year.

RMS means nothing, impedance means nothing. If they have a frequency response graph, that could be helpful. One of the biggest differences is tweeter composition. Most silk tweeters sound distinctly different than metal tweeters.

What sub is going in there? Double baffle will be plenty. Honestly I don't even see that much of a need for more than one. Since you only have 12.5" total width, chances are pretty good that some of the screws holding the sub into the baffle are going to go through a vertical wall as well. Plus it's not such a huge baffle with a 30 lb. sub sitting in the middle of it to sag it down.

The recession seems to be coming to a close. Good news.

I'm at 175, but I'd like to be at 190. Need more muscles! My planned running route was cut short because the sidewalk ran out, and I didn't want to run on the street because it's fairly busy. So I had to improvise and run around some circles on side streets. They're all messed up on this side of town, no street is straight and none go through. Just a bunch of big loops and culdasacs off of streets that just ends after a block or two. I hate that.
