Good work on the box! -
The RE one will work. If you goto JLaudios website and click the support button, it has quite a few how to's. It is a good, newbie friendly, reading if you have the time.
-
From what I've read, the L7 likes a big box tuned high. The range of 35-37 is what I see a lot of people tuning too. What does Kicker recommend? Also, have you ever thought about using paper and pencil to design a box? I find that is the best, and most accurate way. I usually let a calculator figure out my port length, but everything else is basic, basic math.

Do you have a build log of the glassing? I'm getting ready to do some door panels soon and am always looking for more builds.

As Nick as said many times, "speakers are dumb." They do what they are told. They have NO idea that there is a difference between a clipped signal and a clean signal. It just understands power. If you get them too hot.....well, just look at the pictures.
-
I shouldn't have said double the power, as I'm not completely sure about that. I don't know if there is a rule of thumb, as you would have to calculate voltage and current into it. But basically, when you clip the signal, you send wayyy more power, thus burning something up.

Oh come on, Mad Mike (PMR) would love it!

Woah, welcome back, LB! What business did you have over in Germany?
-
Damn, that's a big piece!
-
As long as I know I'm not crazy! Thank you, bromo.

That's what I thought, but I swear I read somewhere that one or the other pulled more current.

Lighting In Box

A ghetto way would be to get a computer power supply and run a sound reactive cold cathode off of it. Completely ghetto, but would get the job done. haha -
But will 2 1500's draw more current? Other way around? Same? I don't know, so if someone does, they should answer.
-
By the way, this is some nice customer service. A+, Nick!

I'd try the razor first, but if all else fails.....FORCE.
-
Lol. All good, just had me really thinking there!
-
I think that would be tough to do, maybe I'm just not looking at it right though.
-
Sounds like it has to be too much power if you burned them.
-
I agree with you. When I first joined I didn't post ANYTHING for nearly 4 weeks. I just kinda looked around, found out who was who, and tried to model myself after some of the highly respected. I think there should be a required reading thing, and then a test afterwards. If you don't ace the test, you can retake it until you do. That will drill somethings into peoples heads, and hopefully cut down some of the retarded crap floating around.

I just want to see Nick break something with a hammer. Dust cap, glass, face, I'm not picky.
-
Also, prevent anything from falling down in when you remove the cap.
-
Feel around and see if it's loose somewhere. If you can find a loose spot, GENTLY pry it off. Epoxy would be good to reglue it.
-
I don't have an answer for that, they just do. People ask me that a lot, but they just seem easier on the eyes to me.
