Really won't matter, but if you wanted it to make yourself feel better, yes. -
Two remote turn-ons

I don't see any reason that it wouldn't be safe to do it that way. It's just a 12v signal for turn on. You could always do a relay though. -
So it goes against SPL design? He's going to run an IA Flatlyne, so I doubt SPL is his goal. Although his tuning was a bit high for something to get real low..

Agreed. This is the only true answer you'll get here.

Suggestions For A New Headunit?

I got my PRS880 for about that much. If you shop used, you can get more bang for your buck. -
Could you enlighten me here? I'm just kind of curious as to the results, but don't have a sub for my car...

Hi everyone. I'm getting ready to start my build on my 1993 Thunderbird. I've become tired of big subs and big SPL, so I'm shooting for more of a sound quality focus. This will be my first stab at active, but I have decided to go 3-way with it. Go big or go home. I do have quite a bit of experience installing and I do consider myself generally knowledgeable. Now on to what we're working with. The vehicle is a 1993 Ford Thunderbird Supercoupe. All processing will be done up front with a Pioneer Premier 880. The midrange and tweeter will be powered by a Sundown Audio SAX50.4. The midbass will receive it's power from a Sundown Audio SAX100.2. I tend to listen to a little bit of everything. Mainly, however, I like to listen to rock from the 70's and 80's and I'm starting to listen to some of the newer rock. On a rare occasion I'll listen to a little hip-hop, techno, and jazz. My main goal for this system is for it to sound really good, I could care less about SPL numbers. I'm pretty much open for suggestions on mounting, but I have my own idea right now. I plan to do some fiber glassing in this install (my first attempt at this also). I'll make sure I have it down pat before I jump in my car though. My thoughts are a midbass in a custom door pod in each door with the tweeters and midranges glassed into the kick panels. Here are a couple pictures of my doors. I did some rough measurements and I figure I can easily put a 6.5" midbass in. I am able to fit an 8" in there with a door pod and some fiber glass. I have no deadening yet, but that will be added before the install. I also plan on using modeling clay for some mass loading in the pods. I'm just going to do the doors for now, and I will isolate other rattles as they are noticed. I'm not sure on the size of the midrange, as I would need someone with experience to give me a better idea of what size would be best. So all I really need out of this thread right now is what speakers would make a nice combination and thoughts on the mounting areas. I would like to keep the budget under $300 for all the speakers. That budget is flexible though, just an aiming point. Ryan

It is an ABC(aperiodic bi-chamber) box, you may not be able to see it well but there is a chamber between the port on the back wall and the port on the left side. I see it now. What are the benefits of this type of enclosure? Flatter response? What is it tuned to?
-
Is that like Hungarian?
-
What is that tuned to, Bromo? Would having two ports that are different lengths have any effect on the sound?
-
Bringing this one back up from the dead, but what kind of fabric do you use when you stretch for the glassing?
-
When you paint the wood, do you a rattle can? How do you personally 'fill' the edge of the wood to prevent soaking up of the paint? Or do you just coat, coat, coat, coat

Nice prices!! Thinking about doing IA in my SPL project down the line.

Ported or sealed?

I thought I read some where that inverting a sub drops the efficiency of it. I SWEAR I read that some where...

Why did you hate the Dayton HF 15"? It just doesn't sound right. I'm pretty sure the box is 70% of the issue, but I haven't had time to rebuild it. Plus the Mag is in an entirely different category in my opinion. Have you thought about shopping used? I picked up the Mag off of here for $100 SHIPPED.

I just took my Pharmacology final. 150 multiple choice questions. I was mentally exhausted by about 80... I think I did well though! 150 damn i havent seen multiple choice since freshman year They were far from easy. Like person A comes in with x y and z symptoms, which medication are they having an adverse reaction to. Then it would like like 4 opiates. You had to choose which opiate it was... Barely any of them ones that you could eliminate... Oh well, I passed the class and it's all over
