I just got a 1998 blazer (4 door) and transferred over my Sundown Audio SAE-1200D and 12" BL from my 99 grand am. The box is 2.5 cuft AFTER sub and port dislacement, tuned around 32-34hz (can't remember exactly off the top of my head) I have upgraded the BIG 3 with 1/0ga wire, ran conduit along the frame rail with 1/0ga to the amp. In my grand am I LOVED it, but now in the blazer it seems to be lacking... not sure what exactly, but it doesn't seem to rattle my noggin like it did in the grand am. My question is should I look at building another enclosure that would work better for the blazer? If so, how many cuft? tuned to? how should the sub and port face? Or is the blazer just that much more airspace compared to the car that it is not going to be the same? Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance And before I forget... right now the sub and port are on the same side facing the rear (enclosure is against the backseat) for everyone that helps me Edit: one last thing... this is strictly a daily driver and will NEVER see a mic

thsnks again guys. M5 you said the front stage is the hardest to do right and the most important. since i am doing this backwards now is it going to be even harder to do right?
-
alright well i thank you for that Jim. i learned something new just now. will get to workin on things up front thanks again for leading me in the right direction EDIT: guess i should have started off with the front stage and then worked my way back
-
haha that was going through my head also. so the kickdrums, etc... from other genres would be played through different parts of the system rather than the sub? if that is the case then i must get to work on the front stage

currently i have a 12" BL in a 2.5 cuft enclosure tuned to 32hz. it is being powered by a "1600" watt hifonics amp (soon to be a sundown saz-1500d). i LOVE how the sub takes on the task of playing songs such as hypnotize, white girl, etc... however when i slap in a cd of something other than rap... there is little bass, if any at all. would changing what my enclosure is tuned to give more response on kickdrums and the like? what i am looking for is something in between the notes in rap and the notes from kickdrums,etc... from other genres. thanks in advance for any all and suggestions

I bought the sub back in early December, just got it installed tonight. its in a 2.4cuft box tuned to 32hz, powered by my "1500" watt hifonics amp. knukonceptz 1/0 KLM power wire to the back, also big 3 done with it also. after an hour driving around back country roads there was only 2-3 songs that made my headlights dim. not bad enough to warrant a HO alt, but i do need to get a new battery under the hood, its an older interstate battery, but enough of that... so far i have NOTHING but good things to say about FI!!! thanks to everyone who got this badass sub to me! pics are soon to come

OH YEA!!! i forgot that lil bugger!! now does that mean i have to start allover or is what i have now alright? so basically instead of "thinking" i have a 2.5 cu ft box tuned to 33 hz, i have a 2.3 cu ft box tuned to 33 hz? one last question... for a double baffle... if i add an additional 3/4 inch to the depth of the enclosure... that will make everything the same as it is now right? thank you very much shizzzon  for you

I haven't ever designed a ported box before, but I did alot of reading and sat here for a few hours and came up with a design for my enclosure. You guys wanna check and see if I did it correctly? will be using 3/4" MDF. Outer dimensions: 29.5" width 15" height 15" depth Inner dimensions: 28" width 13.5" height 13.5" depth Volume = 28 * 13.5 * 13.5 = 5103 cubic inches convert that to cu.ft 5103 / 1728 = 2.95 cu.ft before sub/port displacement Port dimensions (which I hope are correct): 2" width 13.5" height 20.53" length Port volume = 2 * 13.5 * 20.53 = 554.31 cu.in convert to cu.ft 554.31 / 1728 = .32 cu.ft so... 2.95 minus .32 minus .15 (sub displacement) = 2.48 cu.ft I am looking for a total of 2.5 cu.ft (after sub/port displacments) tuned to 33Hz. Does that look correct to you guys? If not... what do I need to change? thank you
