hi, i am new to the whole db drag thing? if thats even what it is called. how does these competitions work? i would imagine who ever had the most money would win... i mean its not like you can run and make your system louder or anything so since it is all just bought how is there a rightful winner if people just drop thousands and thousands of dollars? sorry it might sound stupid but i really dont understand.. vocab might help me too! thanks

so its basically how i thought it might be... just different classes against the same wattage... but then again i think im sure many people have the same setups... i mean there are a lot of go to companies all with different technology but i mean now adays doesnt 1000 watts sound like 1000 watts no matter what subwoofer in the same box? and i mean if you have a car that can hit a high score in db... your car can hit that all day so i mean there is no variable in the next car show. you always going to slam out the same hella high score and beat everyone... or maybe im just sounding dumb.. someone please help me!

i was wondering what guage wire i have to use on a Fi BL 12" subwoofer to wire it down... im sure there is a technical name for this but all i know to call it is wireing it down to 1 ohm... so the wire i will be using inside of the enclosure to run it to the terminal for power and what guage i will be running to wire off the speaker to 1 ohm.... does it really matter? i have i think 14 guage "speaker wire" maybe it mean that i can use it for everything wired to the speaker but i dont know for sure... any clearing up of this would help a lot... thanks in advance! i will be running a 1600 watt amp BTW

so as far as the extra battery goes... can i just buy any battery? im sure there must be a specialty one just for this application... how is it hooked up? and how much does it cost? if you can post maybe a link to the website so i can just order one that would be great! thanks

is there a reason for this? the only thing is, is the fact that my electrical system is soo small in my car they dont even make a aftermarket battery small enough to fit it... and with more power ill be asking quite a few people to get a jump =/

this is not even on the same topic anymore but what is everyones take on caps? i have a cap now 1farad monster one... if my lights dont dim when i get everything installed even if the amp has more power than the cap there is no reason to upgrade correct?

man it sucks that after i really look at it my "little" project is something huge... everything needs to be changed... ill give you all the stats so let me know if i need to change anything else while im at it... 12" BL, 1600 Watt amp Already changed power and ground to 4guage and now changing speaker wire to 10 guage anything else i need to change while im at it? the guy at the shop said all the other wires running to the amp are all fine... whats your opinion?

ok good i also had to change my original number it was 16 guage... so 10 is the best?? and i can use it to wire all of the sub? including wiring it down to 1 ohm and to the terminals and to the amp?

some stupid idiot today at the local stereo shop just got filled to the brim with RE audio subwoofers... i told him i read somewhere that one of the owners of RE is now making MY sub at Fi... he looked at me with the stupidest face and was like nooo, they are owned and operated by the same people they started with i talked to them... like a goddamn smart ass... ill for sure rub it in his stupid face next time i see him..

i'm pretty sure this a must... actually im definetly sure this is a must... is there anything people usually do to break it in as safely and as quickly as possible?

so basically i dont really have to "take it easy"... you think it can handle being slammed right out of the packing? it seems like to me maybe the same as a car if you treat it good in the beginning it will last longer in the end...

Hi, i new to the forums and would for my first post to ask something that even after being around car stereo often i still dont understand.... which is Ohms... say i have a subwoofer that i run at 2ohms with a amp that can run 1000 watts at 2ohms... then i have the same subwoofer that i am running at 1ohm and a amp with 1000 watts running at 1ohm... just the change in ohm with no change to either the sub or amp will the sound be any different or would it be the same? any input helps thanks in advance!

so if thats the case why do people go lower and lower in ohms? which is i guess "better"?

I am planning on buying a BL 12" sub with all the trimmings for xmas... my mom recently bought me a BXI1606D Hifonics amp.... will this be too much power for this sub? i really hope not! =( any input would really help thanks in advance!!
