Budget Amp Suggestions (Mono - 2 Ohm)?
setshot50 replied to setshot50's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Are you planning to add a other down the road? It's going to be more expensive getting an amp for ~800 rms at 2 ohms than at 1 ohm. No sir, one will do. -

Any other recommendations out there? Since changing hands, it seems that PPI amps are more affordable? Also came across some Cadence amps. -

Thanks nigel, if I go with the single Comp RT it will be a 2 Ohm load. -

Good point Bassink. We always see that RMS mark and thing we need to be around that to hear the music when, truth is, the normal volume would use near that amount. Rick, budget on an amp is around $200. I have a Tundra CrewMax so I have very little space. That's why I was looking at the Comp RT setup. I'm also an old man when it comes to car audio (I've been on both the basshead and audiophile sides of things) so simpler is better for me. -

Thanks for the RF suggestion Quentin. Those seem pretty resonable as well. Bassink, I'm trying to be around the $200 mark but can be talked into cheaper (priced, that is)! -

Greetings all, it's certainly been a while. Right now I'm leaning towards using a Kicker Comp RT (12") in my Tundra CrewMax (most likely in the box by Kicker). It's rated at 800 RMS (1600 Peak) and I am looking (as most of us are) for a quality, budget amp to power this. Any recommendations? I've come across Planet Audio, Power Acoustik, and a few other brands that seem reasonably priced. Also, any experience with this sub or setup? Many thanks. -
I see quite a few people on here running a one D2 12 set up in a sealed box and am curious if y'all (or anyone else) can shed some light on this. I'm considering going from my current 2 X e10O setup (800 watts in ~ 2 cu ft) sealed to a single D2 12 (~1200 watts in ~2 cu ft) sealed. I realize this is an SI forum but you guys seem pretty mature (well, at least in your advice ) so I'm hoping to get some relatively unbiased advice. I'm looking for noticeable gains in both my low end and that hard-to-breathe bass while maintaining a high level on SQ. Will I achieve this?

Let's just say, denim - 300 = plaid. B)

Easy now young fella. I will find, and take your lil toy there.

I knew I'd draw Nick out of the woodworks. Basically, I'm looking to drastically improve my low end and loudness over my existing set up. I am picky enough to want a high level of SQ, but am also in love with that bass that just punches you in the chest and makes in hard to breathe.

Thanks for the reply. I'm certainly hoping that is the case regarding the D2! I have also heard that the B12 thrives more in a ported application than does a D2.
-
From what I have heard, the D2 and Brahma B12 are pretty much top of the line so I am just trying to nail down which better suits my tastes.
-
Yup, sure is, in a fiberglass/MDF sealed enclosure. But just not giving me the low end I'm wanting. Thus my interest in porting a single D2 12.

Nah, I rarely take anything seriously...except when folks mess with my Ensure! :boxin:
