Both the surround and spider are made from thick and strong materials -- they have alot of lateral stability built into them. The surround is also still wider than it is tall at 24mm tall x 28mm wide -- this is quite similar to our SA-12 surround which is 21mm tall x 28mm wide. Being attached to an 8" frame makes it look super tall in the rendering, but it's really not unusually tall. As for not using spaced spiders -- we have 52.0mm from surround landing to spider landing vs. 44.0mm from spider landing to top plate -- the larger top distance provides more stability. We have been working on 8s for quite some time -- starting with the E8... and I've never been totally happy working with a stock frame. So I've now decided to do something about it okay yea that is definitely not as bad as the drawing appears cool, i always have enjoyed 8's my very first system back 14 yrs ago was 4 kicker impulse 8's, and i have been keeping my eyes peeled for some kind of a replacement for some tired tc1000 8's i have. really looking forward to these.

i don't believe i have ever seen anyone use a tall surround with a single spider that has such deep rolls. most would use dual spiders with a spacer to combat coil rock which is usually prone with tall narrow surrounds. i like seeing someone willing to spend the time and money to try something different. most companies would instantly scoff at the idea instead of trying it.

that is a good amount of neo. are you charging that in house? if so how much n50 grade neo you could charge at one time? i have some motors i am trying to build, and i am trying to find someone who can charge them fully assembled. i checked with thilo and he said he has successfully charged about half the amount i am trying to use in one motor.

2 lms ultra 18's, 1 tc 3000 15 ti, 4 eclipse 15 ti's,1 eclipse 12 ti, 2 tc 1000 8's, 1 soundsplinter lmt 12, 2 tc oem 10's, 2 tc2+ EO12's, 4 tc2+ EA8's, 4 tc9+ motors i am building as 12 spoke 10's, 3 tc9 motors, 2 tc7 motors, 3 tc2+ motor, 2 4hp motors to be built as 18's, 3 tc built eclipse 8's, 2 15" vmp's, 4 18" vmp's, and 2 custom 3hp based motors built with two 1", and one 3/4" slugs, instead of just 3/4" slugs, and with the short threaded top plate. one is built as a 12 with oem cone, and 4 10" spiders. the other is sitting. and random coils, cones, baskets, spiders, and spacers. that is everything tc sounds, or built by them. as of now no i do not plan on selling anything

yes please take it out the box and try it free air. you also said you bought it used. was it shipped to you? if so check it out carefully, postal services are very rough on packages. maybe it was damaged. shifted motor, tiny cracks in basket. reason i mention this is you said it makes the noise even when sub barely moves, so maybe something is causing the coil to be out of alignment.

i hope they live up to the sq reputation of the original solobarics, and not the spl garbage they have morphed into through the years.

are there any problems with coil rock, because of the tall profile surround, and the single spider arrangement?

i do not know if you would like to consider it a decent amp, but i think they are great budget amps. anyway lanzar opti 2000d. stable to .5 ohm, and they have been strapped doing just under 2000rms, at .5 ohms with around 13 + volts

i have a question, what glue is used when assembling a spider pack together? is it rubberized ca that is used? and is it applied to just the outside / inside lips? or is it applied to the entire surface.
-
i had the chance to play with a single 12 once, and when ever i see someone looking for a sub, and they are asking for great sq , and the ability to really get down on the lows ( if applied in such an enclosure) i always recommend them.

no tubes i am disappointed .

okay how about a clue solid state? or tube?

considering how far apart the spider landing, and surround landing are from each other, they would of been better off with one single spider of a much stiffer/resilient material. with the far spacing between the two landings, and the non-tall/narrow surround, they could of easily apply the old adire audio philosophy when designing the suspension.

damn i know i told you i wanted to pick one up to test, but i don't know about that after seeing this. very disappointing in the glue joint that can be seen, although i have had other ed drivers ( as in current drivers) and they all had the first roll of the spider completely filled in with glue also. kind of weird, and pointless. if i find one for the right price i might still pick it up, but after getting to read your up close look there is no way i will buy a new one at full price.

i have sent 1800rms to a single sx18 it is all in the install, and how you use it when it comes to deciding power handling.

remodel my whole house, and buy a new ride. probably a rav4. if any is left buy my companies stock when it splits

Exactly, he doesn't want the lows. He wants output. That isn't low. what do you mean...i thought you would want a sub that hits the lows really well with that type of music? could you explain? most of that music has bass that is centered around 40 hz, which a bl would shine in that range. when the op was saying a icon has better lows than the bl he means a range around 38/35 hz and on down.

man i hate that kind of ish i had a entire package lost, because of a train derailment once.
