Amp around 2500 watts
themerc replied to themerc's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Maybe I should get an oscope before I do anything to make sure I'm getting full power. There's a VELLEMAN HPS10 going for $125 on ebay... Item number: 180023929587 -
Amp around 2500 watts

I'd have Fi Q15's with BP... I don't know how they rate them. I was getting 700 watts after rise playing a 50Hz tone with my Sundown Audio SAE-1000D. -

Ha yeah, I want 2000 after rise... so I figured I should get an amp rated at 2500. -

Well I really only need 2000, I was already factoring headroom with the 2500 lol. I want 2000 watts even after impedance rise basically. I don't know if it's possible, but you think I can find something for under $500? -
I might be interested in 4 of them How much port area do you recommend?

I did some testing today. I got out my craftsman DMM/clamp and played some 50Hz tones. (I have a Panasonic headunit with 2V preouts, an Excessive Amperage 250A alternator, 1 Duralast Gold size 65, 2 Kinetik HC1800's, big three with knukonceptz 1/0 gauge, etc...) This is my gain right now (red dot indicates)... I did volume 30/40 and sub at 0 on the headunit playing a 50Hz tone. I got 28.6 volts (AC) at the speaker terminals and 19 amps (AC) on the speaker wire, so 543.4 watts. I did volume 32/40 and sub at 0 on the headunit playing a 50Hz tone and got 33.2 volts and 21 amps, so 697.2 watts. I measured the resistance on my sub wires... 1.0 ohm. What's the deal? Why am I only getting 500-700 watts?

Okay thanks man. Should I redo the gain with the DMM (31 volts at the speaker terminals) after I make those changes?

Panasonic CQ-C7103U

Should I set it to +6 first, and then set the gain with a DMM on the speaker terminals (aiming for 31 volts)?
-
it goes from -6 to +6... 0 is right in the middle.
-
That's weird... that's what Jacob told me to set them to...

$195 on partsexpress... I sure hope I upgrade down the road so this isn't a waste of money lol.

Alright, so basically, to get full potential I need to buy an o-scope.

One Fi Q15 with BP Power in 4 cubes @ 32Hz with 58.5 sq. inches of port. Turn the SSF all the way down and try playing?
-
ssf... 1/4 turn up lpf... 1/2 turn up bb... all the way down

I have this clamp meter... http://metersupport.com/manuals/73756.pdf

I'm giving the amp 13.95-13.98 volts with the engine running.

NE Florida, why?

Hate to sound stupid, but how do I do that?
-
I've got a Q15 with BP Power in 4 cubes @ 32Hz with 58.5 sq. inches of port powered by a Sundown Audio SAE-1000D in my grand marquis, and I want to try a new enclosure. This is a trunk car and the seats do not fold down. What were your favorite enclosure specs for the Q15?
-
Yeah I guess I'm looking for more output... but I don't compete or anything, so I want it to sound good with music. I hate this car when it comes to speakers. I already thought about relocating the speakers to the rear doors but there isn't enough depth. I thought about doing kick panels up front but the e-brake is in the way. I ran with a pair of CDT 5.25" components up front only and it just wasn't the same. I'd like to leave the speakers in the stock locations for now.

Maybe I should rephrase this thread. Okay. I listen to rap, rock, and reggae... mostly rap. I want the best performance out of my Q15. I can put the spare tire in the backseat if needed. I want to best utilize the space. What do you suggest I do? Here's a link to my build thread on SMD (don't worry it's only 1 page long) to give you an idea what my trunk looks like. http://www.*****.com/board/ind...mp;#entry259900 Here's a list of the equipment: Panasonic CQ-C7103U (4) Infinity Kappa 682.7CF's Sundown Audio SAE-1000D Sundown Audio SAX-100.4 Fi Q15 with BP power in 4 cubes @ 32Hz (2) Kinetik HC1800's Duralast Gold Group 65 Excessive Amperage 250A alternator Knukonceptz Kolossus 1/0 gauge Elemental Designs eDead v1SE

In what kind of car?

Fi Q15... not much excursion, why? (videos and pics)
themerc replied to themerc's topic in Fi Technical
Okay sweet. As for the fuse, I guess it doesn't really bother me that it'll blow if I play 25Hz at 32/40 volume and not 35Hz... it blew like 2 seconds after playing the 25Hz tone, which was faster than I could have gotten back to the front of the car and turned it off. I didn't mean to play 25Hz and it could've hurt the sub, so I'm glad it blew as fast as it did. And yes, it was the fuse in my power distribution block, it's a 40A mini ANL. -
My enclosure is strangely shaped because of my spare tire, but it's 4 cubes @ 32 Hz with 58.5 sq. inches of port area. My Q15 has the BP power option and I'm powering it with a Sundown Audio SAE-1000D. My headunit has 2V pre-outs and the 1000D has a 0.2v - 6v adjustable input sensitivity, so my gain is about 3/4 of the way up. I have an Excessive Amperage 250A alternator, big three with 1/0, 1 group 65 Duralast Gold battery and 2 Kinetik HC1800 batteries wired in parallel with 1/0 gauge... Does it seem like I'm not getting a lot of excursion? "white girl" by U.S.D.A. vid 1 "hood nigga" by Gorilla Zoe vid 2 "choppin' blades" by UGK Vid 3 Vid 4 Vid 5
