If you have an amp that supplies ample power at 1 ohm and you want to se one subwoofer then you'll want to buy a dual 2 ohm subwoofer. If you want to use an amp that has ample power at 1 ohm and want to use two subwoofers then you'll want to buy two dual 1 ohm subwoofers and wire the coils in parallel and then wire the subs to the amp in series. One dual 2 ohm subwoofer with it's voice coils wired in parallel presents the amp with a 1 ohm load One dual 1 ohm subwoofer with it's voice coils wired in parallel presents the amp with a 0.5 ohm load/ What amp are you planning on using?

Well really it comes down to subwoofer impedence and amplifier impedence stability. A DVC subwoofer can be wired 2 ways, series and parallel. 1 Ohm DVC sub with voice coils wired in series = 2 ohm impedenceth 1 ohm DVC subwoofer with voice coils wired in paralell = 0.5 ohm load 2 ohm DVC subwoofer with voice coils wired in series = 4 ohms 2 ohm DVC subwoofer with voice coils wired in parallel = 1 ohm The universal option Fi offers i belive allows the user to switch between 1 ohm and 2 ohm voice coils.

I haven't worked with nor heard AA's Arsenals but I did install 2x 10" AA Assassins (Back when AA offered them for the real cheap in 05/06?) into my ex g/f's kia sportage. I put them in a 2ft^3 sealed box if I remember correctly and we powered them off an old Profile CA600M amplifier. As far as SQ goes....sounded better then my 2x 12" Type ARRRGGGGHHHS and had good low end extension but then again I had my type R's in a 4ft^3 slot port box tuned to 35 Hz and getting roughly 600w a piece and I was aiming more towards the LSQ side with my setup.....as far as output for giving them 210w a piece and being in a sealed enclosure they still had great output considering she payed like $50-$60 per Assassin...ported I'd bet they have alot of output and in my mind the Arsenal is a more daily LSQ type driver, the Assassin may or may not sound better in the SQ dept. but I'm sure the Arsenal will dominate in the output dept.

Did your brother install/run the RCA cables down the same side of the vehicle as the power cable for the amplifier? That can almost always cause signal noise or signal iterference. I don't think that's the problem though but it could be worth a check.

How much power should I be looking to dedicate to my midbass/highs? I've been looking at some older Focal and Morel 6.5" components. I must admit I am more a basshead then an SQ guy but LSQ is nice but I think the BL's are more of an SPL woofer over the SSD's but I could be wrong....a word from Scott or NDMstang65 would be nice..... 4 ssd's do have more cone area the 2 15" BL's regardless if I got 12" SSD's or not but my future plan was adding two more BL's and another Sundown SAZ-3000D (HO Alt/Big 3 in 0 guage,Kinetics will all be done with first two BL's) and more batts if necessary.

You're absolutely right...I forgot all about the X series......I apologize for my stupidity.

I'm pretty sure the SSD's are the entry level sub....In the beggining all I ever saw were the SSD's the Q's and The BTL's. SSD being your typical daily driver and you're Q being your SQ driver and BTL being an all out SPL monster. yep dual 1 ohm voice coils each sub wired at 0.5 ohms and then wired in series to the amp for a 1 ohm load. any ideas on what I should dedicate to mids/highs power wise?

Sounds good.I'll be needing to get a H.O. Alt. aswell and I saw Mean Green has them for $400 but how big of an alternator will I need? Also seeing as there will be 3kw RMS dedicated to the substage what kind of power range should I be looking at for my highs/midrange?
-
Alright so no Hifonics then....do you think the Sundown SAZ-3000D will be too much for two 15" BL's?What options should I get with the BL's?

Joe started following Two 15" BL's w/ Sundown SAZ-3000D or Colossus

I am thinking of buying a 95-01 4 DR Blazer or 95-01 Explorer 4 dr and I want to start off with two 15" BL's (dual 1 ohm) ported and for the amp either a Sundown SAZ-3000D or a Hifonics Colossus. I was reading and the BL's seem to be what I want...The Q's are the Sound Quality woofer and The BTL is the all out SPL BASS MONSTER,and the SSD being the entry level woofer the BL' claims to fill the gap between the Q and the BTL. What ratio of SPL/SQ would you say the 15" BL's fit.Right now I have two 12" Type R's and they sound alright to me and get loud but I want more bass and better.I want those head craking hits and those low nut jumping shakes.I listen to lots of Metal Like All That Remains,As I lay Dying,Killswitch Engage and I listen to rap like Three Six Mafia and the such. Which amp would be a better choice, the SAZ-3000D or the Colossus? Would either of these amps with these two subs achieve what I am looking for?
