    Problems with my system

I had a similar problem with a JL sub after about three years of use. It happened back in the day and i didn't know enough then to check this and check that, but buying a new sub fixed the problem so...

    CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!

If you are running those kickers in a sealed box then stop. The "rumble" that you want will come from a ported enclosure tuned down low. Build one for two of your subs and see if it's to your liking. It's the least expensive route you can go at this point and i'm willing to bet you'll find the "rumble" that your looking for. If you need help in designing and constructing one for your car i'm sure bigjon will help you out. Good luck!

    What would you do (subjective)

Forget the 10's and 12's. If it fits, go 15" or bigger.

New duel lead project for LV5's

I like it. Wish my subs came like that. And you don't need any connectors on the ends, raw wire is fine.
  7. I'm using a Kicker Kx1200.1 on my 15" Q with BP option and it's happy. It's rated to put out around 1450 watts. I'm not to sure on how much more it could take, but i'm glad that i'm in that neighborhood and not feeding it any less. Here's a link to the amp... You don't have to buy it... But you know you want too!

    My first "real" system

I have a 15" Q with BP Power option. It's in a 4ft^3 box tuned to 28hz and I love it. It's being powered by a KX1200.1 amp rated at 1450 watts and i run it all day without problems. I'm going to buy three more Q's and power them up with a RF T4000bd so the Kicker KX1200.1 amp/s are for sale. PM me if you're interested. Amp search...

Thanks for saving me the trouble! I was just about to suggest you go with that instead! You sound like you want to get the most out of your subs and the 2500.1 should be able to do that for you. If it's a little too much you can always turn down the gain a little but at least you'll know that you're getting all you can out of the subs. Had you gone with the 1500.1 instead, i think you'd just have repeated your first mistake and bought another amp that can't deliver the power you want. Grats on the new amp! I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with it...

    SQ setup help.

I'm kinda in the same boat as the Redneck except one aspect of going active i just don't get. Does going, "Active" mean that i will crossover the frequency before the signal gets to my amp or am i still going, "Active" if my amp does the job? I want to go 2-way active as well and also need some advice on which speakers to purchase. I don't have a budget per say, a good, better, best comparison will do. Currently i have a set of Rockford Fosgate Power T162C 6.5" speakers in the doors. But as far as the active components are concerned, I have plenty of space to do whatever I want and am willing to fab up a mount/pod/location for whatever. LSQ is my goal. I listen to everything. The specs on my vehicle and equipment i already own is listed below... Thanks! 1998 GMC Savanna cargo van HU - Sony CDX MP-70 * EQ7 features 7 bands of EQ (+/-10 dB at 62, 157, 396, 1,000, 2,500, 6,300, and 16,000 Hz) * Dynamic Soundstage Organizer (raises the soundstage of lower door-mounted speakers to dash level) * Front, rear, and subwoofer preamp outputs * Built-in high- and low-pass crossovers (selectable 78 or 125 Hz) * CD frequency response 10-20,000 Hz JL Audio 300/4 * Fully-variable (50 Hz - 5 kHz), selectable-slope / mode (12 or 24 dB / octave, LP or HP) for each pair of channels * 75 W RMS x 4 @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm (11V-14.5V) Sub Stage Kicker KX 1200.1 Amp 15" FI Q - 4ft^3 Tuned to 28hz Oh ya, one more question... Kicker Kx 1200.1 Amp For Sale
  18. Good luck Bud! And if you find you're in need of a amp, check this out... Kicker Kx 1200.1 Amp For Sale I'm running a 2 ohm dvc 15" Q with BP option off of one of them right now and the sub is happy. Very near it's limits but happy.

    Just installed

    Looks good to me man!
  20. The two amps you listed put out their respective power into two different ohm loads. The Sundown makes 1000 watts at 1 ohm and the Kicker makes 1000 watts at 2 ohms. So, your choice is pretty easy at this point. You can only use one or the other and it depends on your subs voice coil configuration. Is it a dual 1 ohm voice coil configuration or a dual 2 ohm? If it's a dual 1 ohm, the Kicker would be the amp you want and you'll wire the coils together in Series to get a final impedance of 2 ohms. If it's a dual 2 ohm, the Sundown will do the job and you'll wire it in Parallel to get a final impedance of 1 ohm. Below is a link to the JL Audio website that has the diagrams for you to better understand how to wire the subs in series or parallel. Sub Wiring Diagrams... Click Here! But if i were you, i would verify first that your sub is wired up properly to the Memphis PR1000.1 before you buy any other amp. If it isn't, this just may be your problem with it going into protection. If you can tell us the voice coil configuration on your sub and how you have it wired, we can further diagnose if this is in fact the problem for you.

    Fi Q

I have a 15" Q dual 2ohm with BP power option running off of a Kicker Kx1200.1 amp. It's in a 4 ft^3 box tuned to 28hz and i'm very happy with it. So i guess that's two votes for ported =D I say buy it and build a sealed enclosure for it first. It's easy to do and won't cost you more than $20. You'll get some box building experience and also a good feel for how it sounds sealed until you can build yourself a ported enclosure. Once you have that done, then you'll be able to decide for yourself which one you like better. Either way you go, you're going to love the sub. Don't miss out! Kicker Kx1200.1 sale ends Sunday at midnight!
