I was contacted today by Nick, the new guy. Hes been with Fi before..but was away for about a year.. now hes back and has replaced Shawn. My order will ship nlt friday. #1325

Well, I've been on the idea that I'm going to close my vents as well... but then brainstormed ant thought it has few effects. 1. Harder to close doors/trunk via to pressurized air cancellation. ( something i wouldnt care about) 2. Recirculation of a/c and heat. Theres usually two options when using your air in the car. One where it circulates air inside the cabin only. and the other where it accepts air from the front vents without having to use a fan. But when you close the trunk vents. Your eliminating the "air in = air out" physics. And you will not have proper ventilation in that regard. (something i use often) 3. air bags deployment. Again, with no where for the air to move to as the air bags deploy...physics say that the speed and size of the air bag will not be as engineered with the rear vents covered. (pretty damn important) With a daily driver..and as mentioned above at a .3 DB gain. I'd leave them uncovered. When I do choose to go to a show and meter my system. I will temporarily cover them and see what difference i get, but imo, the negatives outway the positives if the vehicle is your main source of transportatoin.

Doug.. are you predicting these ship dates off pure speculation from looking at when previous orders have shipped? Or are you talking to someone at FI
-
Can someone from Fi Please respond to me so i can know whats going on

Thats discouraging.. as Shawn has been the only one I've been in contact with since before and after my order placement.. -
New Q 12 barely plays and bottoms out on low volume

A video would give them a better discription of what sound your getting. Instead of having everyone go off "your experiance with a older sub that had a burned vc" -
nvm. I see your info above

Cool man. What subs did you order? And what vehicle? I ordered March 1 as well. #1325. Hopefully when I check my email ill have the same result! I too am awaiting my H.O alt.
-
+1 Man, you cant just swap subs and expect results. Every woofer has TS parameters for a reason. Take the specs (its characteristics) , build it an enclosure (place the animal in an environment it is comfortable in) and then judge its performance.

I believe they were done with Feb. Orders last week, mason_Harold was awaiting fulfilment on march 5th n got his sub on April 5th Do you remember his order #? I orderd March 1, not sure of fullfillment date. So my order should be coming soon.

If you'd stop wearing lace thongs..than you wouldnt be so groggy. Eat a snickers dude. Take the time to fine tune other things dealing with your setup. Your anticipation will be well worth it once you get that heavy assh box at the front door!! Alright dude, does it take a month to run wires, do the big three and build a box? I had my box built weeks ago, already have 2 gauge wire ran, big three was finished with the box. I will tune my amp when I have the subwoofer to hook it up too. How about u get off here, drive to Vegas, build my sub, then drive to Missouri and had deliver it yourself. I would be delighted to shove my snickers up you @ss. Maybe while your here u can go ahead and tune my sh!t. just like the guy below you stated, don't you think its crap that I cant talk to them when I gave them hundreds of dollars? There customer service is bad enough, I don't need your smart @ss replying with stupid sh!t. Thanks. Would you like cheese with that WHINE. Sheesh bro... tighten up and stop worrying. Yea it's not ideal that hundreds of us cant call him everyday and ask where he is on build process. They had mechanical issues with one machine, had to order and wait for it. Its been tax season and bad timing. He's working on building up customer service reps but hes not going to hire any teen or foreign personel who doesn know jack about car audio or his company. How much power are you running and what sub/s did you order? Whats your electrical looking like?

Not when shes "on" at least!. lol

If you haven't. I'd first look into perfecting other areas of the setup. Possibly sealing off the trunk. // Or Deadening the trunk in addition to adding MLV (dampener doesnt block low frequencies, it just stops whatever mat'l its applied to from vibrating). // Find your trunks "breath" ports and close them off // See what you can do do build a larger box // upgrade alternator and or battery bank // Drink snapple // Eat a slim Jim... etc etc.

Well lets lead him in the right direction shall we (you)....what are some signs that would begin to let you know, when you are giving too much pipe to your "woofa"

yeup..just half it. Calculate the largest from smallest and get the value. Then half each section, calculate, and so on. To make it easier for you. Draw a large circle on a sheet of paper and perform your calulations there so its easier to see and remember what part of the dial equats to each value of frequency

so the tinsel lead design is whats patented? Where'd the heck did i get that from? Guess I didnt read . So the idea that the amp caused the failure is moot? Or can the Tinsel lead be blamed? Theres so many different factors that could have caused this fire... I dont think its possible to get a refund. I'd just rewire / double check everything and get the recone done.

You're tight on cash but you're trying to do a "serious build".. If thats the case then sell your caps on craigslist or ebay to some one else who thinks they're important. Save up, and get some decently price wire from Knu Konceptz to wire the big three. Its not expensive once you write it out and plan. Then replace your batty under the hood with something that hhas a higher amp hr rating. I suggest saving some $ and getting yourself an AGM battery. If you still want to take steps after that. Get a battery installed in the rear, and or then get a H.O. alternator. - The alt and batteries may be money out your pocket, but if this is your 1st build..you dont want to cut corners, its all money well spent if you do it right the first time.

Who holds the patent, if I may ask? JL After following the convo..and seeing this response. DOes this mean that the ONLY way the OP could get a refund in this situation is if he has a JL amp powering the woofer? Because the JL company owns the ONLY patent for proper amplifier design that should never be the cause in a subwoofer catching fire due to poorly filtered frequency? You may have followed the convo, but obviously did not read it. Go back an read it, then see if you still think this is a valid question. Obviously I DID read it. Which is why I had the question. What was said was that JL has the only specific patent on amp design. That comment stemmed from the discussion that ALL other amplifiers are kissing cousins ..aka they all practicallly share parts which was feeding the arguement that even a trusted manufacturer such as sundown can have a less than ideal parts detail list. Adding to the case of "amp caused fire" If you felt I simply didnt READ than you could have kept your useless comment to yourself. Either that or correct what I did not comprehend from the discussion. I have no problem listening to someone who can point out what I was incorrect about and enlighten me on how i was wrong.

Yea..id give it at least 2 inches... with it down firing..you MAY exceed the normal xMax distance being that gravity will be in your favor..although it wont make it exceed it by an amount thats worth worrying about. Id still give it at least 2 inches. If the port is downfiring as well then obviously you shoulud have more space to allow for optimum air flow

REEE-lax bro. Sometimes shit happens and itll ship 1 day later. Shawn has a proven track record of being a hard working guy who loves to keep customers happy. You're due to ship anyday now im sure. If you haven't already, intstall all speakers, amps, deadening, and fabricate then form/fit your box. So all thats left to do is pop the sub in and start WAANGIN'!!

You know what would be benefitial to to those who cant decide what to buy?? (like I was) We should post the type vehicle the install is going in! That way we can get a good idea of what type of airspace/cabin volume you guys AND GIRLS plan on putting these babies in. My order..... #1325 orderd March 1st 1 15" SP4 07 Camry

It will actually be 20 business days by friday. Yeeup, must have mistyped that. Looks lke an estimated date of mid april, if they are indeed catching up on back orders
