That is how I have it now, but to get more power is it possible? or should i run active?

i agree, this was BNIB, so i did notice a difference after 30 minutes, and now 2 days later im still noticing changes slightly. It is picking up lower frequencys better, it was a little stiff at first.

My RL-p18 is arriving tomorrow, the box i am going to build will be 5.3ish cf tuned to probably 29hz. This will be a dual-2 model running off a Sundown SAZ1500 @ 1 ohm. Will 1500+ rms be o.k. for the RL-p in this size box? the box will have about 60 sq inches of port, will that be enough? btw, i used the RE box calculator to mess around with some designs. I have heard that their tuning is a little off, does anyone know about how much so i can compensate for it? sorry about all the questions, I just dont want to eff up the sub Thanks, Cody

NEW LAW!!!! (important read) everyone please
01 S 10 replied to scizzle's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
im curious as to how loud the music has to be at 25 feet, because i know the "25ft law" here in FL, but I can have my volume on 1 and still be able to hear my speakers (NO bass) from 25 feet. It is very faint, but I can still "hear" music. -
ok ... dual 2 is ok. can it be re-coned with an 18" basket?
-
lol.. yeah i abused it with a burnt copy of Bass Mechanik.. haha big no! no! anyways... If a dual 1 ohm config can be done im down for that, get a lil more power out of my Sundown 1500. Let me know whats available. also the voice coils on this thing got VERY HOT i mean, i could not touch the dust cap, i heard my skin sizzle that is how hot this thing gets.

well i built a standard slot ported box today, 5.5 cubes tuned to 29 hz... sounds reallyyy good. But is there a break in period on the woofer? it seemed like after about 15 minutes of listening it was slowly getting louder... is this correct?
-
but pretty much since it is a slot port and RE is definetely calculating/designing a slot port, it should be pretty accurate right?

Here's a couple pics... (dual 1.8 ohm)

How much can these MJ-18's handle? sealed vs. ported?

I'm looking at picking up 2 SSD's (15"), the box will be roughly 7 - 7.5 cubes. I would like to find out what the optimal size for the port. Still deciding between slot and aero, might need some suggestions there. Let me know the dimensions of the port you would use for mainly SPL in a 7.5 cube box. Thanks!

Stopping by to introduce myself... I live in central florida and love to customize my truck and anything to do with audio. Have fun out there everyone!

Im running a single sundown 1500saz for now, but might get a second in the future. My vehicle is an ex. cab S10 that I can fit roughly 7-7.5 cube ported box in. Im wanting the most SPL out of my setup and I am comparing 2 15" SSD's against a single 18" BTL. I know my 1 amp wont push the BTL to its limits, but it should do very well with the SSD's. My question is will I get the loudest results running the Sundown at 0.5 ohm (18-1900 watts) with 2 15" SSD's or a single BTL 18?? thanks in advance! Cody

I didnt think I would have enough power with just one 1500 to power 2 15"s BL's good enough. Also price I need to keep in mind too, I would be jumping up another $150 (without mods) over the SSD's BUT, if the BL's will definetely outperform the SSD's on about 800 watts each, I could save up longer and get those... what options should I choose for the BL's??

whats up guys, ill be running a sundown saz1500 on ??? not sure yet, ill be using all of the area behind the seats of my ex cab s10 (up to about 8 cubes). Im going for whats gonna be the loudest. Im considering 2 15" SSD's ported, but im open for suggestions. Also anybody that has an ex cab s10 or ranger or something similar im looking for suggestions from you guys too... remember this will be off 1500ish rms, and would prefer 2 subs for the cone area.... even a single BTL just takes too much power that i wont have for my application thanks

Just stoppin in to say hello, im a future Fi subwoofer owner (still deciding).. ill be running on Sundown 1500 on ??? hmmm.... Cody
-
ok, my plans are to get a 200-250 amp alt, already have a red top under hood, ill probably stick with that, 2 runs of 0/1, 2 odysseys in the bed or watever batteries i can get a deal on.... also couple layers of deadener all over all of this just incase i upgrade to a couple btl's in the future... im still stuck deciding between 2 15" ssd's or a single 18" BL... any suggestions?? im goin for SPL... not too much on SQ.
-
ok im confused as hell now... i like the idea of 2 15" SSD's to give me lots of cone area... but a single 18" BL would be nasty too... im tryin to figure out my loudest possibilities... I dont really want to run the sundown 1500 daily at 0.5 ohm... but i will if everyone thinks it will be ok, there for i could go with a 18" BL dual 1.. and get maybe 1800-1900 watts out of the sundown. 95% of the time this system will be for daily pounding, not comp... So 2 15" SSD's at 1 ohm (1500-1600 watts).... or Single 18" BL at 0.5 or 1 ohm (1500 or 1800 watts)..... ??? any suggestions? thanks again for all the help

ok sweet, by ports on top of enclosure.. do u mean have the ports firing toward the roof??? or the ports firing forward above the subwoofers (basically firing the same angle as subwoofers)??
-
my max dimensions would be approximately 50" wide x 25" tall x 20" bottom depth / 10" top depth... i believe this whole area will get me about 8-9 cubes. Id like to stay around 6-7 tho. Ive had better luck with subs firing into the seats, so ill probably stay with that method. I will also be running 0/1 from batt to another batt or 2 in the bed... maybe 2 runs if necessary... ill make sure the electrical system is up to par before i even attempt to install this new system. So with 8-9 cubes in mind, im thinkin about 2 15" ssd's with maybe 6.5-7 cubes common chamber ported to say 33-34hz. As far as a slanted box... maybe ill make the front a flat face for 15" or so inches high ( so the subs fire exactly forward), then slant it the rest of the way up. But im open for suggestions on the box and subs also... thanks again
