  6. k guys help a newbie out. ideal would be since you want 2 amps for some reason. 2x1000 sundowns. maybe around 4 cubes after displacement for both. tuned to anywhere from 31-34 hz. and as for helping you out on how to design a box. make a new thread titled '' need box design for 2 12s, got cash'' lmfao its hard to just explain how to design a box.

    RF or Sundown

you wont be disappointed with either.. i myself am a sundown man. but take nothing away from rockford fosgates amps they are some solid amps as well.

    Just for FI....

off topic but, higher efficiency subs get louder out of a larger box. lower efficiency does better in a smaller box. with tuning between 20-40hz. visa versa for tuning 50-80hz.

so what is is tuned to and how much cu ft. per... thanks

    THE MONSTER LIVES

tuned that high, you need more voltage......................you are probably getting like 800 watts from each amp at that low voltage.

Is Fi really all that bad?

CAN you SAY HATERS.. they just mad, FI did nothing wrong to them and make awesome products, just hating on ''us'' LOUDER FOLKS.

    1 or 2 btl 18s for 4000watts

yeah your rockford is probably gonna be putting out around 4600 or more at 1 ohm at 14 volts. very good amp. but your gonna have imp rise, dont know how much though. make sure you get someone to set your gains on an oscope. so you would know about what volume level that your amp starts to clip since your gonna try and get as much outta that amp as you can since you gonna get 2. but for now run it at 2 ohms and you'll be fine. FROM what ive experienced FI underrated this sub by plenty. it took about 2500 to even get one going. im not sayin it can handle a billion watts but you get my point

    1 or 2 btl 18s for 4000watts

why would he wanna go sealed with bls. obviously that would not even be a good idea with what he is trying to get outta this system

    1 or 2 btl 18s for 4000watts

um gains are not volume knobs.... who said that youd have to turn it up to that point... gains are set accordingly to your decks pre outs voltage. i personally had experience with a btl off 3000 watts and played it straight right before clipping for at least 30 minutes at a time on bass songs with no problem. i o -scoped it so i knew where i was clipping at. i think it couldve took at least 3500rms of unclipped generally easy with the right box and settings. if you dont wanna worry about blowing anything and play it as long as you want, then id just get the 2 btls although youd be underpowering them imo but still get quite loud...
  20. dont you know that they are the same motors, but different cone area buddy. come on now, you been on this forum since 06

i know youre looking for an honest reply, but honestly that is such a wide question.. how much money you got to spend. how many woofers do you want to run.. and try to come up with 3 scenerios and some of us here will pick what they think is the best outta the 3. shoots.

how good are BL's at SQ?

Terminology to who's understanding..? I may understand both of your respective terminologies of SPL and SQ better than yourselves but nobody has a patent on it and it applies in both. Have more of an open mind --- If having a hard time understanding other peoples definitions on things ask someone for help. Obviously you figured you had differences w/ zuccs definitions and just wanted to make yourself heard, well it sounded like whaaaaaaaawhawha If I am wrong I will ask for your forgiveness and offer my assistance. Zucc is trying to say that many SPL oriented woofers have a not so nice aftertaste called motor sound. Some specific type woofers sometimes have more clarity, cleanliness, crisp quality of sound or SQ at the frequencies we are trying to reproduce at ridiculously loud levels, also known as amplitude and SPL. Just because you like your subsonic frequency at a lower level than most doesn't mean that people can't desire high output at a quality level. SQPL. Is any of this making sense. PM if you'd like and I'd be happy to help you out w/ definitions and improving your own settup if you'd like! M5 has just been OWNED hehe So you are arbitrarily going to use definitions for terms and have no consistency and expect them to be understood? No matter what there is one major difference between SQ and SPL and that is that SQ will always refer to the whole system, while SPL only refers to the subwoofers. What the OP stated was he was looking for an SPL setup that would shake the ground but that had no exaggerated bass...oxymoronic a bit no? Impossible to answer without clarification. Had he not used the term SQ in his post and instead typed what he was looking for it would have been easy, but the misuse of the label makes it very confusing. I could assume I knew what he wanted like you did, but that is never a way to help someone. btw who is that in your SIG. lol
