For the same size sub I would buy a sundown before a skar. I have no idea how they sound, nor perform. Sundown on the other hand is very reliable and their customer service is FAR superior, ask phatboi. But if I had to choose between buying a real Rolex for 10k and a knockoff for 11k, I'd be stupid to buy the fake.

For my application, I had new banana style screw in terminals added instead of the plug ins, tl0 op amps replaced, just a few little things. *I don't really consider the new larger pig tails a mod or upgrade. I just use Stinger Pro in all my installs so I had the pigtails matched. -

The new LP stuff is pretty expensive, and I found I could get the old stuff at a decent price. The modding and refinishing is where the money comes in. I guess the nice part is that I'm really not in any hurry and my buddy and his dad worked for LP when they were here. I have a lot of faith in his work, so I'm doing fine money-wise. It's actually kind of fun trying to find specific old pieces. Originally it was going to be a 1002 or 1502 for the highs, but a 2202 came along at a price I couldn't pass up, so I had to grab her. She goes under the knife next week. -
Fi Car Audio Subwoofers Vs jl Audio
gprestonmoto replied to FiAudioSubwoofersjj's topic in General Fi
Okie dokie. First point. We don't do "VS" threads here, so don't expect anything but a mod chewing your ass a little bit. Second point. We've all been where you are before, so it's difficult to get too annoyed but listen. Find a local shop, and ask to apprentice. No pay, just work and learn. I did it. Are shops going to be right all the time? Not even close, but if you want to learn it's a good first step. You have to work off the "obsession" and it's hard when your young. I'm pretty sure Dennis at Audio Enhancers wanted to kill me, but he taught me and made me do my own research. Not ask 9 million questions online, but RESEARCH. Get in there man or you're gonna go nuts and get kicked. -
I imagine an old fashioned from her is like f***ing a cheese grater.

LP's are fairly easy to spot from the internals. Almost all of them used the T03 case on the transistors and had lots of point to point wiring. Are there any benefits to doing it that way? It's an argument waiting to happen. T03's are high speed frequency switching. Some people think it matters, others don't. I honestly like Linear Power, I think they sound great, and they're period correct for my 88 Cadillac. I love the way they look and I love the way they sound. I'm not rushing out to buy anything new at the moment, not because there's anything wrong with them (I collect old LP), but because I enjoy the hard work, craftsmanship, and reliability of them. -

I've got a 2202 coming and getting modified from the start. Soon as that's done, I'll start the hunt for a "reasonably priced" 8002sw. Then I can get all the sinks powdercoated. and buy myself a pair of icons or xcons. That has yet to be decided. -
Guess it wasn't just me that noticed.
-
I wish I could snag your xcon but alas, I've spent too much money and need d2

I use a simple setup of Paradigm Atom v2 bookshelf 2 ways, and a Sunfire True Subwoofer Architectual inmy apartment. All run off of a Denon AVR-810. I'm pretty happy with it.

DSS distro blocks. Flexible ones. Like (2) 1/0 in and out, with (2) 4awg in and out. For 3 or 4 amp installs. **Flexible meaning multi-application, not like those weird JL ones that the wires can move. -
I do still have the Focals. Nakamichi is sold, as well as the Diamond
-
Just doesn't fit my application. Going to move em. Thanks though bro.
