If I've got the room, I just use RG-6. Our shop has enough to loop around the city twice, so I just grab what I need, cut to length and solder RCA tips on em. There's a million of those around too, so it costs me nearly nothing lol.

Already pm'd lol

I definitely don't want to be anywhere near the 80's, just good response from 30-63
-
I just meant 28-30Hz, none of the 22-24 Hz crap.

I'd be looking to run a ported enclosure with as flat as response as possible ie tuned very low.

So what's the coil configuration on the gcon and is $120 shipped a possibility? I can run 4 ohm or 8 ohm total load, the gcon leaves me with a little expandability which I'm a fan of. The Ultra RPM looks decent but I have no information on it. No specs on that site. Why would anyone kill you for posting that?
-
What size is the gcon?

amp stopped working but shows no signs of failure?

If you need it fixed. I have a contact, but yes you'd have to ship it out. -
Wiring harnes help...

Seriously. Our shop uses metra dash kits and antenna adapters, but we stay away from that Axxess cluster fuck. PAC pieces work way better. -
So maybe I'm confused and doing this wrong but I haven't had trouble before. I've been modeling a pair of BL10's based on T/S parameters from the website. I've been told that they work great tuned low for a flat response but they seem to model great on 2.16 cu ft each at 31 Hz. Actually when I run them at 24-26Hz they kinda look like shit. Am I doing something wrong? Or does the 31Hz tune look fantastic for a build? The blue line is 2 drivers in 4.327 cubic feet at 31Hz

That's what I thought. Q's killing me as I didn't want to have to push that much power.... but damn that Ethos is nice. Maybe I can run a pair of gcons in IB.

I'm not trying to start a war, but it kind of erks me that the only response I can get from the Blues side is that cabin gain will significantly raise low end extension. Please correct me if I'm wrong... Cabin gain will be different in EVERY vehicle. The boosted/dropped frequencies from cabin gain will be different in every vehicle. I can't imagine basing my decision on the theoretical "maybe" of cabin gain extending low frequency. It is much easier via DSP to adjust having too much of certain frequency areas, then to hope and pray that cabin gain will bring them up. I can always turn it down, but I can't make something out of nothing. I'm confused on the point as well. The iso kit performs well at ~1 cu ft @ 31Hz, why wouldn't this be something to show?

I've got plans to build something dirt cheap for my apartment. I don't know if the difference in 5.1 and 7.1 is necessary or not. I am 100% honest with this subject, I know jack dick about Home Audio. Our company does ultra high dollar installations and sells equipment so getting a receiver shouldn't be too much. I'm interested in how to go about building inexpensive driver setups. I think Arrays are pretty damn cool, is this an option?

I don't know about an xcon, but I've done it before many times on older JL subs.

Never understood why people want to run a half ohm load for a daily.

I'm sorry I listened to nothing in the thread, just spent the last 10 minutes hating you for owning an AWESOME truck. I'm jealous.

Hey guys, a friend of mine is looking to install his Tymphany Lat 700 in his Chevy Astro. Currently I'm looking at 40x21.5x10 with 2 3" ports. Length of 15" for the ports tuned to 24Hz. Torres says this is correct. It's mainly a show piece, and he wants to get it moving. Can anyone help me out with a box design or recommendations? It's kind of an odd driver(s) http://www.tymphany.com/files/resources/dlat/LAT700-001.pdf Sub will be used on music not Home Theater

I'm in love with the Ethos. 3 cubes at 22Hz. Yum -

Buy the IA's on sale. CT's are an older board design with a few updates, but pretty much same boards that AT used for awhile. -

I'd buy IA. -
Will 8's be enough for what im looking for?

Bro music. Lol. -
This is bc it was not designed for a flat response. It was designed for a slight ripple in response at tuning Bro I don't mean a slight ripple. Let me get a pic. The Ethos makes a beautiful SLIGHT ripple. I understand what you mean. Don't take this the wrong way, I spent 2 years and several samples to get the desired response. WinISD automatically models a C4 enclosure. Maximumly flat response with lowest possible rolloff. The Ethos was designed to go in a QB3 enclosure. Which yields a low roll-off, a bit of ripple and good transient response, with emphasis on transient response. When WinIsd models it's C4 you get a huge 14 cft box with a saddle hump in the teens. The sub just isn't made for that. Shrink the box down to 6-8 cubes and tune to 15-20 hertz and you get a slight ~1 db ripple in the ~30-60 hertz range with a f3 around 15 hz. Now put it in a 3ft box tuned to 32 and you get a massive ~5-6 db ripple which is why they seem to be much louder than the competition. They are just optimized for output in the boxes most people are running. Again this was intentional. But back on subject "CableGuy" has more experience with these drivers so I'd take into consideration what he recommends . I guess it just doesn't fit my goals. I'm sure they might sound great or something works well for other people. But I think for the money, I could run the Ethos with a giant smile on my face. I'd love to run a pair of Ethos' isobaric push/pull, but too much wattage! LOL, I guess I'll play with the AE's and Ethos some more to make my decision.

That's what I'm saying. It confused me that it looks fine @ 31 Hz, but with that roll off at 22-26, I might as well run sealed.
-
Let me please start this with saying I don't want this to be a Blues/LP bashing thread. I love the amplifiers and I think the midbass 8's and 6.5's sound great. I'm currently trying to decide if I want to run 2 Acoustic Elegance IB15AU's, 2-3 Blues BL10's, or a single DSS Ethos 15 in 3 cubes @ 22Hz. I love the Ethos and if I could reach xmax with only 1000w, I'd be done, but they need a significant amount of power. This is the BL10 tuned to 22Hz with multiple different sized enclosures. Honestly the BL's look pretty good at 31Hz, but not as good as I was expecting.
