For right now I Wang To use 1 battery but in the future maybe a year or so i will be building out a very good To a great setup I also Have To check what battery size i can go up To since the one i Have is I believe a 24f class and it has some movement but hard To vet the positive from the starter To stretch enough To the positive on the battery -

so as it is stated i have light dimming. i recently well a few hours ago installed a newish alternator for my 2000 toyota camry the alternator is from a totaled/damaged 2003 toyota highlander which is 130amps rather then the stop 80 amp alternator that came with the camry. so car i did the "big 2 upgrade" which consists of batt + to alt +', batt - to strut tower and the new alternator when i turn the up to where i normally put it with the old one well 5 notchs up the lights dim but if im calculations are correct the newish alt should have enough power to power the subs and the rest of the car no problem. but that is not that case. since the amp gain is less the half way up. so im thinking the problem now im faced is the battery being the culprit since it's the stock one that was replaced a few years ago. forgot to mention the big 2 upgrade is 4ga for both. so what should be the first thing i should fix that would help me the most since i need to save up for the new sub setup AMP: kenwood x1200m WIRE: 8awg power and ground for amp HU: kenwood DEH x3500ui vehicle: 2000 toyota camry LE SUB: kenwood kfc w3013ps and the other sub unknown but looks like a home theater sub. -

Those alt prices are a bit high for me so I guess I will go with upping the stock alt -

I know mechman is out of My price range but would like To make the 130a To about 180 or higher just want To know what campanies do it so i can get a rough idea of the prices and maybe see what would be cheaper. i think im okay on power but i want some head room for when i upgrade in the future. -

i would love that but i don't want to blind other drivers. but i might soon since it would be a cheaper alternative to fixing or hiding the problem i was thinking about replacing some stock interior lights with led's so it would be a bit brighter and look nice. i was thinking about angel eye headlights -

but a second battery would make the light dimming worse if you are using a upgraded alternator due to the fact it would mean you are charging another battery which in fact would mean that it will take longer for the batteries to recharge if there is more strain on the system. so it would mean upgrading the big 3 would help lower the drop a little and the amp power and ground would help drop it as well but in all essence upgrading the alternator would be the biggest improvement to helping the light dimming. so if the lights are dimming and you have an adequate alternator that can power it then that means you would have to improve your ground wire since the wire or contact can all ground so much power before the ground would be having a hard time keeping up with it -

by that calculator or tool im doing about 1.17volt drop and if i upgrade my wire to 4 gauge i will have a v drop of .475 which looks alot better then 1.17 but it's off the stock battery wiring so i still don't understand how upgrading the wires improves the drop so looks like i have some research to do ahead of me so i will look up some prices that i like im looking for im looking for a bundle of 50' red wire and 50' black wire so it will be easier for me to tell the ground and the power apart. but is there an adapter that i can use zero gauge to 4 gauge because then that would put my v drop down to .2 which i will be really happy if anyone knows of good prices of the cable and adpater that would be great im looking to spend a max of $100 for all -

Yeah the amo is 90 and the alternator has 90 Amps after the 40 Amps taken To power all the other components -

I will take that Link later today and about the battery Im told alot the stock alt and battery can handle the two 12's and possible more without light dimming just with a proper ground for the amp -

I know My alternator has 90 amps of charging after the 40 amps taken To fun all the other eléctricamente components the stock alternator was 80 and I replaced it with a 2003 toyota highlander alternator which produces 130 Amps -

So can someone explain To me how thicker gauge will help reduce light dimming -

buy the looks of it i need 2 gauge wire but then find an adapter that can fit my x1200m amp power and ground terminals. but for power i need 2 gauge and for ground i need 4 and i hear it is not a good thing to have different power and ground wire sizes. and now to find a cheap either a set of power and ground wires. well not to cheap but something cheap but very good quality. so what is a good company to go with i hear cadence is good and cheap but i want something that will last. my friend has 4 gauge power and ground wire when he switched from 2 12's to a single 12 his lights still dim even with the same amp just different subwoofers -

i know that point but does not make sense on how it can improve or lower the light dimming without any other upgrades -

Im puzzles how does a thicker gauge wire help light dimming since If it is dimming in the first place then the thicker gauge would do nothing So if the lights are dimming wouldnt you want To get a better alternator To suffice enough amount of amperage of the system -
been a while since i have been to baltimore. i was wondering if anyone else lives in the tri state region that we could meet up and i can see your setup's. tenn from me was 13 hours since me and two other friends took a road trip to arkansas to visit his mom and family

looks like 4gauge is the max my amp can do so looks like i will be sticking with that till i get to the point that i build a proper system to my liking. -
