T-shirts! I would kill for a plain white/black t-shirt with "Fi... inFinitely amazing" on the back and just "Fi" on the front.

I think I'm hearing tinsel slap on my 15" Dayton Titanic, but I'm not sure. Does it sound like something is scratching on the inside of the cone? If I apply pressure to the cone, it stops making this scratching noise. Thanks! -Trevor

Hmm, could be a warped coil. I was wanging that sub pretty hard. Any way to check this?

From what I can tell, it sounds like when he turns it up past a certain point, his amp is going into protection or something, because it isn't producing any sound. When he turns it back down, or when a soft note hits, then it produces sound.

Hmm, very interesting. I think I've got it planned out now. A D2 BTL running off of a 1500d, and maybe another later. Just waiting on the cash.
-
Can a pair of strapped 1500's run a Dual 2 BTL safely? Its below the rated two ohms, but seeing as the power test were dropping insane numbers, I figured it was worth a shot to ask if its been done.

I wonder if I can get a bull bar for a Scion.
-
This is good information! The BTLs are tough tough subs, it would seem.
-
has Fi started shipping the heli-cool for the BTL yet?

Whats the difference between these coolings? Sounds cool. -
Hmm, whats the technical difference between strapping & bridging?

How do you roll your car trying to hit an armadillo?!

Your Fi Audio link isn't working, but I'm planning on getting a Fi BTL15. From what I've read, they're real tough subs, backed by awesome support. Get the upgrades, and you're good for more then the rated 2000W. As for amps, Sundown Audio makes a 3000W @ 1ohm model that can be bridged for 6000W @ 2ohms. http://www.sundownaudio.com/pp3000d.html I'm sure theres other big number amps, but I'm sold on Sundown too, from what I've read. You got an upgraded electrical system in your car, or planning to upgrade? A 2000W amp is going to require a healthy amount of juice to power. -Trevor

got my badly conditioned 18" xxx today :D

Depends on how much tinsel lead is worth. If its going to cost you less then $5, then I'd say do it for the lolz. -
Okay, I guess I'm learning well then. Nice avatar, btw.

Now I'm not an expert, but I don't think you can recone a sub to another size, or can you? Wouldn't that involve replacing the basket at the least? I think recones just replace the cone, the spider, and the coil, the soft bits, not the basket or the motor. I could be wrong though...

Hmm, cool. Thanks! -Trevor

Well, actually, my initial setup is only going to include one 1500. That should keep me happy for awhile, until I can afford the other 1500 and everything that goes with it. So, I'm thinking my best bet is to buy a Dual 2 BTL, and run it on the 1500d until I can afford to run another 1500d with all the goodies. And on that thought, is a 90A alt, with 1/0 running from a yellow top enough to juice a 1500 @ 1ohm? Also, Sundownz, I notice on the 1500d power testing, you had a starting battery, another BIG battery, and your factory 85A alt. I'm guessing you were only running the amps at full power for short bursts, and for my street slamming usage, something beefier is needed. Am I close? Thinking out loud, -Trevor

Woah, DAYM! Thats quite a bit for an alternator. I guess I'll have to work that into the budget too.
-
Well, its probably going in a 2008 or 2009 Scion xB, which uses the same engine as the tC and Camry. Its the 2.4L 2AZ-FE engine Appreciate all your help! -Trevor

Whats a rough price for a HO alt? $250? Or am I way off?
-
I don't even like jeeps, and I feel somewhat sorry for it... Why trash a perfectly good 4x4?! >.>
-
Hmm, maybe Excessive Amperage can custom wind one for me.
-
Hmm... Would the 1/0, Yellow top, with the 90-100A alt work on a 2ohm strapped load? I might be able to jam another battery in the back, but as far as alternators go, are there aftermarket HO alts for foreign cars? Toyota/Scion Thanks -Trevor

Haha, whats wrong with your car?
