sundown 3000 watt how many runs of 0 gauge?

I'd say for everything your running, 2 would work. I might do 3 to be safe to make sure the current is there. Where in Texas are ya? I'm round the Dallas area.

Reccomend a 15 for my friend!

I thought the Soundstream T4 new was discontinued? And now they're doing the T5's? Unless someone around has new ones sitting around?

    MOJO 12"

LP frequency is at a little below half... I would hope the box isn't damaged, but we'll see. I haven't took the sub out of the box yet, but I will here in a few hours. I get off work early and my top priority is to figure out the slapping sound. Weird thing is, I only hear it when the bass note is real high...I don't hear it when the note is extremely low. This sub beats the F*** up on the low notes. Feel it in your chest but the slapping sound really concerns me.

i took the season Opener this weekend

I sat in Brians Explorer yesterday with the SS XXX 15"....and holy crap...it will ring your ears pretty bad at 40hz. Made it hard to even breathe. Pretty badd A for 1 15". Dash was falling apart when he was playing some Molotov(spanish music). Hats off ta ya man, nice job.

    First car audio system.

Yes it is a tiny piece of the puzzle, one of many characteristics for the woofer. But it tells a big part of it. Just like the the BL and the Xmas. We all use different terms, just one I'm used too.

And I agree Jim, but I also noted that it was a SQ Bass sub. And not all times when the Fs is low, will it be a SQ sub, like the T5 SS for example, Fs is 19.73 but it's not SQ either. Good luck on the build/install Pirate.

The sub is 500 RMS and 1500 MAX, you might even try finding an amp around 800-1000 watts, if you want to go that much. If Alpines website is right, the Fs is 23 which means it is a sound quality bass sub. Tune around there in a vented enclosure and it will be pretty darn nice. Hope this helps.

    First car audio system.

Yea it might be a bit pricey, but it will be a nice addition. Thats the time when you appreciate if you know how to do it yourself. I'd probably design an enclosure around 2.25 cubic feet and tune it near whatever the Fs on the T/S parameters is on that particular sub, and it should sound very nice. I wouldn't want to cut up a nice older car either, I like to keep it clean where I can put it back stock if I need to. Go to Alpines website and find T/S parameters on that sub, and then I personally would go for about 2.25cubes tuned to the Fs of the sub. Good luck.

4 ohm and 2 ohm's just represents the power an amp can produce. The lower you wire the ohm level on the sub's coils, the more power you force the amp to produce. I.E., if you wire a sub up at 2 ohm vs. 4 ohm it will receive more power from the amplifier. Would you be into making any custom moldings for your door panels since you like the sound of the 6.5" mids? I'd replace the 6x9's in the stock locations with better ones and maybe the door moldings if you wanna add some nice sound. Also maybe a set of nice tweeters with silk dome's on the dash or mounted in the apex area in the top corner of the windshield? I know Pyle was good stuff back in their hay-day, but I'm not so sure now, I'd stay away from them in my personal opinion. I'm not knocking the company, I just haven't seen anyone running Pyle anything anytime in the last 5 years. Type R isn't a bad sub, for the power you want to run. For the price and ratings of it, 400-600 watts would be sufficient to run it around 2ohm's from the amplifier. You could wire it down to one, but I'm not sure it would be stable on either of those amps. Won't heat up on ya at 2 ohms and I think it would be fine, if you watch your gains and dont just turn it all the way up and blast it all the time. Another question is, do you want punchy tight bass in a sealed enclosure, or do you want a ported enclosure that will produce lower bass notes that you can tune to different frequencies? Hi-Fonics amp isn't a bad choice and neither is the JBL, both are decent clean power amps. I personally would choose the Hi-Fonics(I might get bashed for picking Hi-Fonics:), but I think they are better amps but I'm just one man and its my opinion. Alpine 9881 is a nice headunit, I'm using the Alpine 9885 and I love it, nice SQ headunit with a ton of options to use. Main differences between the 9870 and 9881 are just options on the headunit itself. Not much physical difference. I know if you buy the 9887, you can use the Imprint system and sync it all to reproduce the sound even better which I'm not up to par on fully yet. Hope this helps. Jeff

    It's on NOW...

I saw this sub earlier up at the shop.... Bad A** sub....love the Quad coil. Way to go Brian, nice sub. And if you do ever let it go, I'm the next owner.

    need amp ideas

I picked up a couple Sundown Audio SAZ 1500d's from Jacob at Sundown. Picked up a few of them for $350 a piece used. And they are awesome proven amps. Might try them?

    Low power sub recomendations?

What kinda amp? Specs on the amp? I'd probably go with a Kicker sub , like a CVR, and they're cheap too. Maybe for 100W , I'd try the Polk MOMO 12". My father has a MOMO Polk 10" in his car with an Alphasonik 200 watt amp, and for that little of power, it's impressive. I know the Kicker CVR claims to be 400W RMS but I'd try it. Go to www.woofersetc.com and look up some and see what you like.

    saz 1500d and 2 type r 12's vid

Type R's arent chitty in my opinion. This past Sunday at the local car audio event, their was a guy in a single cab S-10 truck with two Alpine Type R 12's on a Precision Power 1000 watt amplifier and he metered at a 146.1 . I realize its a small space in that truck, but I think its very respectable being they aren't full blown SPL subs. Just my $.02 worth. Nice video, do you like the Sundown 1500? I have two of them going to be running 4 T4 15" Soundstreams strapped at .6 ohm. Jeff

Heard on the FI forum a while back they're around $79.00 for the Fi kits, I may be off a little though. I wanna see that sub tonight Brian, call me when you get that beast.

    New Car!

Nice car Jacob...but anything Volkswagon is expensive to maintain... I work for Budget Rent A Car and we deal with the VW dealership and a lot of their customers tell me their bills are well over $800 for routine maintenance. Nice car though and Congrats, did you get rid of the Honda, or do you still have it?
  18. Guy around here from our local shop is running the Memphis M4KW 4000.1 Mono. He's got a 220 amp alternator and like 4 optima yellow tops and it needs more. He's pushing 3 Memphis 12" MOJO 12's with it. Nice amp, but I agree...Way overpriced amplifier...but it seems like a nice amp.

And I agree, not really an all out SQ Subwoofer, but it isn't full blown SPL either. Just a suggestion, but it's kewl.

    Help need sq sub

Don't know if you'd be willing to go SX 15's? I have a pair of them, 1's brand new ...other is lightly used. $400 for the pair plus shipping. Fs is 27.8 on them, they'd do nicely for what you want. Let me know.

    Hi

Welcome to SSA, sure you will feel welcome, their are a lot of knowledgable SQ guys on here.

    Got a Problem

True, worst thing would be is that they don't respond. A guy here named Kevin, had two 15" SX's and said they stop responding after 46hz, but I'll try it and see for myself. thanks for your help John, any opinions about the Audioque HDC3? Might be a decent alternative? Any thoughts on it?

    Got a Problem

Well here goes: I have 2 15" RE SX's and two Sundown Audio SAZ 1500d's. Problem is, the Fs of the SX is 27.8 and the box that I'm going to use(or was gonna use) is tuned to 54hz. Now being that the Fs is 27.8, it's not a SPL sub now I realize in a box that is tuned to 54hz.(I'm still learning I'm a semi-newb) I've heard the 15" SX in a 46hz tuned box with a 1000 watt DD amplifier and it sounded ok, but I've had a few people tell me, these 2 SX's are going to sound bad as in terrible in a 54hz box. Does anyone have any opinions/suggestions/solutions or alternatives? I may be switching sub's and if I have to whats a better alternative? I need 2 15's with the Fs around 34-34.5 to work in the box I'm going to use. I don't wanna go DD if I don't have to because of the price and Fi's are a little outta my price range right now as well. Any alternatives? I would appreciate your input, how little or big it be..Thanks Geoff

    need a little advice

I'd say the Q's , the Sundown would push them nicely. The SSD's aren't bad at all either. For your space and power, either one is a nice choice. Personally myself though, I'd go with the Q's.
