difference between GEL and AGM technologies
slim2fattycake replied to slim2fattycake's topic in XS Power
I may think about doing some competitions but that will be as an amateur and for fun. This is for a mostly daily application. My set-up plans are what I have in my sig. i don't have the subs yet and I don't have a high output alternator yet either. -

what can prevent this from happening
slim2fattycake replied to chevy454's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
sound deadener will definitely help with the crappy rattling sound. i dont know why people think that when their car falls apart, thats its impressive. -
they probably build when the money is confirmed.

is there going to be sealing around the box to the back of the cab? nice build.

some companies will abide to the CEA power rating. it would say CEA compliant on the box. the birth sheet isn't always going to show more for the RF amps. it does do close to the rated readings. usually +/- 200 watts. also another thing to know is that CEA rating is at 14.4 volts. some companies may rate their power lower, like sundown.

i didnt know its not recommended to run them in sealed boxes. listen to bigjon, he knows what he's doing and he has had experience with them already.
-
if your going to build your own box and if this is also your first build then you should try out a sealed box first and see how you like that. i'd go with an extra battery. do the big 3 upgrade with 0 gauge wires. look under FI's technical section and see what they say is a good size for a sealed 15" BL.

my head unit is doing the same thing. i may have to check it out soon.

If you're thinking about MJ 18's
slim2fattycake replied to Rashaddd's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
damn. i wish i could. i just got one for the home theater. -
me too, but it looks like it is, we took it apart and put it back together twice yesterday. not at all what I meant. It is pointless to compare two setups equally if they don't have at least somewhat optimized enclosures. My guess is that the expensive custom enclosure wasn't at all designed right for one set of subs and the pre-fab luckily just happens to be setup near perfect for the others. thats what i was getting at. i guess m5 just has a better way with words than me.
-
what is the custom box made for? and what was being played for testing of loudness? arent most prefabbed boxes (ported) tuned for rap like around the 40s?
-
theres no need for 4ga if its just being powered by 100 watts. also, you could make any set-up loud. maybe ur other friend with the MTXs didnt just want stupid loud. i think i remember some guy that had two 6.5s in his car and he built the box for loudness. he had people thinking two 12s or 15s instead of weak little 6.5s.

have you tried using WinISD?
