Amp recommendation for aura transducers (bass shakers)
slim2fattycake replied to slim2fattycake's topic in Home Audio
I know what you mean. I feel like I'm on crack when I see a home theater set-up. -
I will be using 4 -8 aura transducers (50 watts rating each) in my sectional couch. I think I will start out with 4 though because from what people's reviews say, 4 should be good for my sectional. My sectional is like this. One about 7ft 3 cushion couch, one about 5ft 2 cushion couch, and one about 5ft chaise. I need an amp to power 4 or more but I want to stay pretty cheap but still have reliability. Well here are three I have found to work for my situation. What do you guys think? Nady Audio Stereo Power Amplifier XA-900 - $150 shipped. rated for 900 watts bridged at 4 ohms but I really think its like 400 watts bridged at 4 ohms. So I can power 4 of the transducers with this. This would be my first choice on price alone but if reliability is a problem then I will look at the others. Phonic MAX 1600 Power Amplifier - $210 shipped. rated 280W @ 8 ohms per channel or 450W @ 4 ohms per channel. I think its really like 140W @ 8 ohms per channel and 225W @ 4 ohms per channel. This is fairly cheap but I don't know anything about it. I think it would be good to power two tranducers per channel @ 8 ohms or 4 transducers per channel @ 4 ohms. I can even add more if I want to in the future. CROWN XLS 202B Power Amplifier - $230 shipped. rated for 300W @ 4 ohms per channel. I can run 4 transducers per channel and be able to add 4 more if i wanted to use both channels. This is on the high end of my budget but if its worth the price for reliability then I can do that. It looks like the phonic amp will be good for me because of the different configurations I can use for future add-ons. It is also fairly priced. It has just the right amount of power for the transducers and more but I don't know if its a reliable amp. or How can I use maybe a 2 channel receiver to power the transducers? I also have a sub dedicated amp also in my set-up.

Amp recommendation for aura transducers (bass shakers)
slim2fattycake replied to slim2fattycake's topic in Home Audio
Yup. This set-up is for video gaming (first person shooters mostly) and movie effects (the girlfriend will love it). 20% for music listening but I may have to turn it down for that. I am not going to tell any one of my friends that I am going to do this. I want to see their reaction when the first explosion happens. I will only need a projector after this and my theater project will be finally finished but thats probably not going to be a while due to money shortage. Hehe. Well, there will be little projects in the mix like a flexy component rack and theater curtains or large beams with the component racks integrated under them so I can fit the largest projection screen in there. -
MJ-18M for the win! lol. $150

nice install. love the remote gain deal.
-
dont go crazy on the gain though because you don't want to send clipped signals to the sub, but under powering is fine.

I won a Yamaha M-60 power amp. I am also using a MJ-18M in the mix for the low end as well. -

Well, sorry to say that I didn't go with the crown. But I didn't go with one of the other options either. I got a good deal on an amp on ebay so I bought it for 150 shipped. -

Did you have the aura pro version (50 rms watts)? I think I'd have it turned down a lot anyways. I like to have good headroom. -

The $230 for the crown is gone so yea. If I can get the crown for less than 200 then its the crown for sure but if not then I think I will have to go with the receiver idea. I am still looking though. -
I'd go with the 2nd amp and build the box to stay within what you have room for. I'd also get flatwind just to be safer because it is not just for SPL. I have had a 15" BL powered by an 06 model of the MD2D. All I can say is that it was LOUD and there were no smell or anything with no flatwind in a 2.5 cubed box.

whats with the ground location after the RE pic? It looks like mud and that means water can get on it. Maybe its too late and I'm not seeing something right.

What amps should i get for 4 BTL?
slim2fattycake replied to foxvega87's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I really don't have any inputs other then what has been said. BUT you better make a build log for this. -
not enough? lol. I'd do 2000 watts for a BTL, but it never hurts to under power. However, with only 1400 watts and probably rated at 14.4 volts then I would get a BL to use with that amp because then you wouldn't waste the extra money on something that you would only under power. You will get louder with the BTL than with the BL with both running the same amp ( in the the right enclosure). However, if you are in the market for a cheaper BTL, then check out my FS thread. EDIT: Nevermind. My BTL is dual 1 ohm.
-
if that amp can be stable at .5 ohms then it would be great for the two SSDs. I doubt it is over 1000 watts at 2 ohms though because it is rated for 1400 watts at 1 ohm. Wiring them to 2 ohms with that amp could sound great if your more into a better sound than getting loud.

Fi's site is now Perfect. I really like the white font on the grey background a lot better than the red.

depending on box and a fixed power going to them then sure cone area will win.

is your sig old because it says 2 mj-18s? and did you use the homedepot foam for deadening? how was that? and how accurate is that voltage meter? forgot to say this but nice build. hair trick coming soon?
