Best amp for SSD 18 under $200 ?

AUDIOPIPE AP1500D or AP1800D. The 1500 is rated at 1 ohm and on 14.4 volts and it is 150 shipped brand new. PM me if you want to know where. The 1800 is 190 shipped I think. I know the 1500 and the 3000 do rated so I am going to say the 1800 does rated too because it is in the same line, AP.

Go to the deadener link in my signature for the best use of your dollars on deadening. The techniques are what will save you on money the most if you plan on deadening. But if you want, you could actually get a Mach5 iXL 15" sub instead of an SSD. The mach5 iXL is $220 shipped but I think that is Canadian dollars so it may be right under $200 dollars shipped for US dollars. Also, you can get an Audiopipe Ap1500d amp to wire that sub to 1 ohms for 1500 watts. I got that amp two months ago for 150 shipped off ebay. If you want, I can give you the link to the best seller I found for these amps. I actually built a system for my girlfriend's mustang with a 10" iXL and an audiopipe ap1500d. It gets loud and it sounds awesome on music. So amp and subs come out to approx. $350 shipped. Wiring kit can be had locally or online at many different places. Knukoncepts has a 4 gauge wiring kit that would be find for your son's set-up now. I think you should get him the 4 gauge instead of 0 gauge which will be different from what some people may advise because then if your son wants to upgrade, let him get into the system and learn about the hobby to install newer wires or subs and whatnot. Thats just my take. I think he will really appreciate the hobby a lot more later when he goes through doing it as well.

For that price yes. Unless you get something used. I think your son and his friends would be more impressed with a 15" sub anyways. It is rare to find teenagers that are into smaller subs. Its the wow factor of having such a big subwoofer. But a 15 Fi SSD is a great choice. I don't think its under 150 though.

Best SQ Enclosure for my dual 1 ohm Q18

hehe, .3 cubes is nothing. I would do 7 at least if you have the room.

Best SQ Enclosure for my dual 1 ohm Q18

did you click on the link I posted? I think that link needs to be a sticky for all newbs. But you can also wire it to .5 ohm but I wouldn't advise it. Its not bad to have to wire it at 2 ohms but you should have gotten dual 2 ohms instead to get your moneys worth on that amp. If you were planning on getting another 18" Q then dual 1s wired for two subs would be 1 ohm.

Best SQ Enclosure for my dual 1 ohm Q18

You know that with a dual 1 ohm Q, you can only wire it to 2 ohms to that amp right? http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=12 Fi recommends 6 cubes as the lowest volume for a ported box. What is the volume of the space you have for the sub box? I would go largest you can go or largest you want to go and see if a ported box can fit there or not. If not then you have to go sealed.

what amp do you have and what do you mean the specs are not specific enough? its a sealed box. Plus how much is the local place charging for a sealed box?
  13. If you're bias already then you would think that you heard a difference. Shizzzon, hurry the hell up and get your probes for your oscope.
  14. He has two batteries mounted on a layer above the amps. It would be hard to even try to steal them lol.
  15. I got a friend with a hifonics Bxi1608 amp. I'll try to get that to a meet up to get it tested.
  16. 3000 watts. Man, give me 15 mins. I am going to take a picture and post it. I keep forgetting.
  17. Did you check out the voltage on the battery when things cut off? And so you have two batteries in the trunk, a stock and a kinetik?
  18. Hehe, I know someone with an audiopipe 3000 that switched the power and ground twice and it didn't die. The same amp was ran for 5 months. It was only screwed down to the floor once for a competition with one screw. During a testing day, the amp was just placed on the top of the box for burps with a notepad between the amp and the top of the box. Reliability...
  19. its a 2 channel bridged amp. two 1500d amps inside it. I don't understand how hard it is to flip the amp over and get the actual wiring diagram for the amp on the back of it. I'll post up a picture of it.

    help with trunk lid rattle

what is actually making the rattle? If its two hard materials rattling against each other, putting something that is also hard on them would not make them stop rattling. Close cell foam works for those situations. Can you get pictures for more detail of what you are talking about?
