Best 1/0 Gauge cable
slim2fattycake replied to ShagggDiesel's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
2/0 welding cables is the same as the knu kolossus 1/0 cable. The only difference is the jacket. Some people say that welding cables are not flexible but I think different. I have had kicker hyperflex as well and I think they are just as flexible when you want to bend them. The welding cable will keep its form better though. The hyperflex will fall like wet noodle lol. Some like one way and some like the other way. Some say the jacket on the welding cables are weak but think about what welding cables are used for and where. There is no way that they can be weak with their industrial purpose. Also, I have never had any ripping or tearing or whatever problem with the welding cable jackets. So yeah, they are a little cheaper on price than the kolossus wire too. Knu's wires are always bigger than the rest of the competition and bigger than AWG ratings too. SO 2/0 welding cable 100% copper is like getting kolossus 1/0 100% copper. Just a lower price and without the flashy color. But I could care less because my wires are hidden under the carpet or under the hood or whatever. Also, if the wiring has the same cross sectional area then they are rated the same. big strand counts are for flexibility. "At high frequencies, current travels near the surface of the wire because of the skin effect, resulting in increased power loss in the wire. Stranded wire might seem to reduce this effect, since the total surface area of the strands is greater than the surface area of the equivalent solid wire, but in fact a simple stranded wire will have worse skin effect than a solid wire, because of its increased average resistivity due to inclusion of air gaps within the wire." -
wtf does that mean? do you know him personally to say something like this?

Thanks for the comments. Interior/exterior high gloss paint at Lowes with a medium density foam roller . I forgot the brand of the paint. I already gave the customer the rest of the paint. Spray can clear coat.

New amp
slim2fattycake replied to Don Ganso's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
They make 1500 and 1800. They work great and haven't heard any reports of fails. I don't have any problems with the 1500 and the 3000. They make rated power too but not at 12.8 like sundown. They are rated at 14.4 so on the 1500, at 12.8 you would see about 1300. Its 150 shipped for the 1500 and I think right under 200 for the 1800. -

alternator?
slim2fattycake replied to ambyrell1's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Get some batteries to back you up. Maybe a d3100 and a high output alternator 200 amps and above. -
You're going to double cone area and its not like you have power that the SSDs cannot handle. I say go for it if you have plenty of space for the 4 18"s.

That sounds like the XP line. That is their best line. I hate foreign cars when it comes to prices on this stuff. I gotta pay more. But I only paid for a 240 and he upgraded me to a 270 XP. Rob is a great guy. He is on the phone and the road more than he can breathe.

Doubling amp power
slim2fattycake replied to Outbacksound's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If this is done many times over, the alternator will die because of excessive work it needs to do. -
Man, if 30 dollars is double the price of MDF and these were both 4X8 sheets then you guys can get MDF for dirt cheap. MDF is $27 after tax for a 4x8 sheet at the local lowes.

Doubling amp power
slim2fattycake replied to Outbacksound's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yeah, something else is wrong with your electrical. It is not because you don't have the big 3 if lights dim when you roll the window. What happens when you turn on the AC or Heat on high? Have your battery and alternator checked at autozone. -
