    speaker comparasion

i am thinking about getting speaker replacements for my oem door speakers. i got a 96 honda accord coupe. these are the two i am looking at right now: ALPINE SPS-600 6-1/2" 2-WAY 240W and KICKER KS60 6 1/2" 2-WAY 195W. which one is better and maybe if someone else has a better set tell me. these two are only 10 dollars apart on ebay. they sell for around 50 shipped.

    lights dimming

so now im guessin that upping the idle rpm is out. lol.
  3. ok well i had a 130 amp high output alternator in my car, but it would whine every time i turn the car on for about 5 mins on n off depending on the electrical drain. so i reinstall the stock alternator, ( if someone knows what a stock 96 accord ex 2.2L alternator amp rating is tell me) there is no whine now which means there is no straining at idle. i no that the high ouput alternator i got is 130 amps at 1200 rpm, n prolly lower than stock at idle, but now with the stock alternator in, the lights dim bad, i can definitely tell. before with the High output alternator i didnt see much of my lights dimming. i do have a 1 farah cap in the trunk. now i was wondering because i read off other forums that you can raise the idle rpm above 800. i was wondering how to do this and if it would be bad for anything... really i am going to replace the cap with a kinetik hc1400 battery. but just wondering if the rpm idle could be raised to 1200 rpm easily or not...

    lights dimming

ok this is not an FI problem the only problem FI has is making good chit. i just think that this forum has a lot of knowledgeable ppl. n i dont think it is the size of the belt that is the problem. it is a remanufactured alternator for higher output so this is why it doesnt have the higher output at idle. but this is also true for most H/O alternators except www.h-o-alternators.com. their stuff is great, except the price, for my car its a lil shy of 700 for 170 amps. i dont really know where an alternator shop would be, how would i find out? do they just work on alternators or wat? so stock alternator vs H/O except at idle?

    amps to power SSD 12's

whats a IA 20.1? what would happen if i do run the two amp set-up? Incriminator Audio 20.1 is a monoblock amplifier. As far as what would happen.. refer to the top part of Denim's post. hehe, it makes it easier for the electrical system?

    amps to power SSD 12's

right now, my set-up is what i got in my sig... i was thinking about getting another ssd. i was lookin for reasonable priced amps that could power two ssd 12"s. i was looking at the SPL DK-3400D and the SPL FX1-5500D. It says their THD at Rated RMS Power 0.50%... I read that good amps have <.1% THD... Is .4% difference that much? And I know that the rms wattage is a little different but these two amps are fairly close in price, why is that?

    amps to power SSD 12's

why would the hifonics barely do 1000 watts? Because it's a Hifonics. They're not known for their rated power, they're known for being cheap. o damn, i thought they were a good brand. everyone's got them. That is because they are cheap. I have personally seen a good number of them go poof in competitions in just 2007 alone. The kicker, for daily usage is plenty of power, some are specing out close to 1800 watts. That is more then enough for those subs, if you feel otherwise, it would be best to start thinking about sub options on the SSD, or moving up to the Q, in addition worring about electrical support to a large amplifier. ok i got 1 ssd right now with flatwind and bp power with the hifonic BXi1206D. i am thinkin about gettin another ssd with the same options and getting an amp strong enough to power both of them. so i am lookin for an amp with about 2400 rms watt power... or should i just use two amps to power the subs? if i do the two amps then im prolly gonna get two BXi1606D from hifonics. they are about $230 includin shipping each. it says 1600 rms watts but since they are overated ill say they are about 1200-1400 rms watts each... thanks for the inputs guys, any more would be appreciated even if i dont listen

not enough power... well since this is my first system install, im kinda new at it. i was wondering do i just y split the rcas to two amps and then wire the subs to each amp separately? cus im thinkin about just gettin another hifonics amp and use two amps to power the two ssds

so if i dont have an alternator of 180-200 amps it wont be stable? damn lol im sad

    amps to power SSD 12's

i got 1200 watt on 1 SSD 12" right now n its eatin up the power like nothing... and i got the flatwind and bp power...

    amps to power SSD 12's

i have heard tho that the sundown 1500 is underrated and is stable at .5 ohms right?

    amps to power SSD 12's

well im tryin to get an amp to power two SSDs n that saz3000 at 2 ohms wont give me enough power... i need 2200-2500 rms watt at either 2ohms or .5 ohms.

thanks, i guess your right but i just thought that maybe i could get another ssd n power two with an amp that wouldnt tear a ditch in my pockets. man i cant remember where i came over a massive list of awesome amps and their power ratings

to Fi or not to Fi

look this guy got 2500 watts to the BL but prolly with the options. my set-up is with 1 SSD 12" and i already got 1200 watts on it. i think the BL can handle more than the SSD can... o and about the amps, i think hifonics are really good.
  22. slim2fattycake

    amps to power SSD 12's

well the SSD is 800w safe wit no options, i got the options that would should add about 200-500 rms watts. and why are the spl amps garbage?
  23. slim2fattycake

    amps to power SSD 12's

why shouldnt i worry about the THD? what you mean the ssd dont deserve these amps? i was actually going with a hifonic thor but that cost too much. n my budget is cheap lol. i spent about 1000 on my system already... n adding another SSD sub will cost 250. see right now i got 1200rms watts on the one ssd but i think it can handle more...
