In all honesty, MDF is probably the best material there is for building subwoofer enclosures. It self demapens well and is fairly strong. -
Subwoofer enclosure material - MDF versus Plywood

Not if you use 1" thick material and the box isn't too big... Price and assembly becomes prohibitive, though... -
As a side note, I have had a copy since 1990. It is a great book. It has really, really helped me...

I agree on buying the book. It does not go beyond Algebra, so if you can handle that, you should be OK. It also makes sense to read the book from the beginning, it sets you up to understand what is going on. A lot of people want instant answers, but you don't really learn anything that way. It will pay off in the long run to learn some of this on your own...

Sounds just about dead-nuts on to me....

I have no idea what the T/S parameters for that driver are, so I cannot tell you if it is suited for vented or sealed alignments. For H/T ultimate extension I would lean towards a vented alignment, assuming the driver will work well in one. If the driver is much better suited for a sealed alignment, shoot for Qtc between .6-.7. Any lower and it will begin to sound lifeless, any higher and it will have too much ripple and start sounding crappy. Sealed boxes sound no better than properly designed vented. You only need to use polyfill if you cannot build the box big enough for target Qtc, this really never happens in the H/T environment. I would do some research on what EBP is. I would also do some research on the pro's and cons of each design. There is nothing wrong with down-firing alignments, but you have the ability to alter the way the driver behaves when you load it close enough to a solid surface. Normally, it will drop system resonance a tad, but that is about it...

Looks real good. What is it tuned to?

Just so you know, it there is any volume that goes (loads) through any type of "window" or "opening", it will behave like a band-pass.

You need to stop and get help from someone who knows what they are doing before you ruin your equipment.
-
It isn't good if it makes any sounds other than the music it is supposed to be playing. If you are bottoming it out (clank/clap/popping noise) you are causing permanent damage somewhere, every time. This is caused by improper installation and/or operation.

Yes, I place it about 10' from the gun. It has 2 sensors, about 15" apart... The only tricky part is to not put a hole in it...

Oh, in case you haven't figured it out... I hate Afghanistan... I have spent almost 2 years of my life there, lol... Good work, awesome times, but I hate that fucking country...
-
So as I was getting some stuff in order to hop on a C-17 next week to Afghanistan for a few more months one of the guys I work for comes up to me and tells me "Hey, we are standing up a new XXXX in XXXX country (like $135 a day in extra per-diem!!!) and we need you to engineer/install the complete XXXXX".... So I am like, Fuck yeah, let me get all my shit together, he is like "good we will leave in 48hrs"... Another guy comes up to me 2 hours later, hey, project project moved, have fun at Bagram (Afghanistan)... 100 feet from where I was originally going, lol... Some shit...
