I would love to shoot out that far.... just to try it, but I don't have many 1000 yard open lanes. I'm a fan of overkill. Hence my desire for a big .50. If I ever want/need it... well, there is it. I figured my .308 would be good out to 400 yards or so. I don't know how acurate the 16" m4 style barrel is. I honestly thought about getting a different upper with a longer barrel, I have to read up more. Really just looking and toying with ideas. Sometime when it gets warm i'm going to take the ar over to WI where my buddies grandfather has a hundred or so acres to play on. I need some glass though. I would LOVE the trijicon one they snap onto the .308s that the military uses. Those are sexy.

6.5-06 custom bolt gun and some damn good glass. If you are serious I can put you in contact with a guy who can build you one. rather than a bmg? I have absolutely no idea what side round that is or anything about it. Would it be viable for large game? I have honestly been thinking about going on a big game hunt some day. I have little to no experience with long range shooting. Farthest I have shot was ~350 yards on a calm day, so I don't really know what I should expect out of a rifle. So much gun smartness.. First off, what do you define super long range? 500 yards or so
-
....yeah, that's not so pretty. I was thinking more for moose/elk and other big game... but the mental image is nice.

those are some sexy moofers. I want to trade in my 18" Q now for an xcon!

... I have WAY too many passions. I need to consolidate or win the lottery.

luckily the AR is a rifle! The lingo for guns is worse than it is for audio. EVERYTHING is a number or an acronim. the caliber and Xmm system is used, and in the case of the .308 & 7.62x59mm interchangeable. It's almost designed to be intimidating. mmray, have you ever tried a JP trigger on an AR set up.? I was shocked at how short and smooth it was. m I wanted to look into it. The only real weapon I want now is super long range accurate rifle. Probably bolt action. I wouldn't mind if it was chambered in .50 either.

alot of the concern about steel cased rounds is the durability in an aluminim reciever..also, in the strength of the extractor, though i don't know if it will be the same in a .308. also, the harder primes in russian mil surplus or similiar ammo. many ar guys will tell you that over the long run, the steel will erode away the aluminum in the chamber area, eventually causing stuff like headspace and bore diameter issues. or the steel cases will eventually wear down the extractor, of break the firing pin. also, you might need a stronger spring on the hammer just to set off the primers...all in all, it's over the long haul that steel cased ammo becomes a problem. btw, my ar hates stell cased ammo. i get lots of FTF, even when freshly lubed. my saiga though, lol...loves the stuff. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I have heard the aluminum wear issue. But I have heard more about the varnish on the steel getting gummy and into wrong places then hardening up to tha point you can't get it off. Thank you for the tip though! again, even the varnish issue is over the long haul, improper cleaning and getting the gun EXTREMELY hot at every session. not that that can't happen, but it's going to take a while, and require some laziness on your part, lol.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee perfect. Weapon maintenance is about the only maintenance I pay attnetion too.

I think in the end you will be more satisfied with an active head unit controlled cross over. It is more forgiving, and the upgrade may actually cost less than a really well built pair of crossovers.

you stop my top.. I was on a roll.

x2 It is also one of my favorite pastimes. Those 'Sconnies do some crazy stuff man and they can't plow worth a dick. Hey where did all this MN love come from Nice to see more locals on the board. Outstanding. MN and good audio were made for each other! It's only natural.

I can't believe that is MN, if it said MO I'd believe it though. I live about an hour and a half from Apple Valley. I hope the purity army doesn't try to take over Winona. WSU? It better not leach over to Lake Minnetonka either. Last thing we need out by the island is someone to tell the women to put their clothes back on. Actually, Southeast Technical in Winona. I am glad its getting warm around here because I was beginning to wonder why I left Tucson's fantastic heat to come up here. I hear Lake Minnetonka is the place to be during the summer. That is why I bought a house on the shores of it. I hear it is snowing at home. Not enough to matter. Maybe in another area. I was right in 'tonka last night. Met with a Tax guy in EP, and I was MASSIVELY lost. Google gave me bad directions. Or maybe I am incompetent. Either way, I toured the eastern half of Tonk. Then I find out he has an office on the opposite side of the twin cities in Roseville. A whole 3 miles from my house.

.308 FTW if you want to shoot foreign surplus look at S&B, fiocchi, priv partizan. same price range as wolf/bear and you get legit brass without skimping on velocity and accuracy. i use breakfree clp for everything gun related but i'm not very oil and solvent savvy so i just stuck with what my ffl/ammo guy recommended. I pretty much use Hoppes no.9. It's the best I have ever used for auto single. rifle or pistol. It also makes the ladies go wild as a little after shave

let's see them counter tops and cabinets! a little cali scenery never hurts either need to get counter tops! The cabinets are unfinished still, as menards effed up my order. I got the wrong fronts.
-
...I know and I said I would get them up last night. I deserve 20 lashes! It take so long to upload them to teh web. I should probably use a lower setting. The 50bajillion mega pixel digi SLR is probably over kill.

Weirdo the cock can never come too soon.

i keep her dripping wet. Do you recomend miltek? The guys at the shop really recomended that. I love my AR but she's a bit of a priss. Do you feel there is a concern about steel case rounds? My buddy who lives with me has an AK and that thing is so damn durable. You could literaly pour sand in it and it will keep on blasting lead down range. No accuracy really shifty feel... but SO reliable.

Ryan, I had a Q about my AR. why did the manufacturer recomend me to clean my barell bore every round for the first 25 rounds or so, and then every 10 rounds untill after 100?
-
I really should get a safe for my guns too. I don't think the AR10 needs to be out and accessable for home protection.
