NO shit. My basement one one side has inch thick unfinished what I think is cedar boards. Other fake brick and fake wood panels... Pine wallpaper would be an upgrade by far. Especialy if you put a fish trophy on the wall too! The lady who owned this place was nuts.
-
I'm confused, what equipment do you have/have already purchased? The whole kit? If you already have all the gear are you just asking how to tune it? If you can sell and upgrade and have a budget maybe we can help you with something else.

Ding ding ding Give the man a cigar.

They are great. Make super paperweights. Still in the box. I have been thinking about different box styles, and if I want to go PR, ported, or sealed with a ton of processing.

I am going to predict the future. TWX JPM C <-----Bit of a long shot unless you have a time machine to get me to mid march. That is all.

True statement Ryan. The only reason I was being specific, was the discussion kind of turned into a "if I add another one later". If the Shiva is a regular DVC sub with 2 connections, there are more amp options. I'm completely confused. I even thought for a second I may have messed up when looking at my Maelstom's. Kevin at DIY is THE MAN. If you shoot him an email he can clear it up.

You are right ryan, but just to be clear. I think this means it IS 4ohms and cannot be changed. Just an FYI Performance Operational Specifications: With Voice coils in parallel. Measured with Praxis @ sea level, @ 55 deg F., drive voltage >1.5V. The driver is broken-in with 12 Hours of operation with a 20Hz sine wave near full excursion. A 12AWG jumper cable is used to connect the voice coils. My Mael-x is done up similarly. In later reading however, it shows a diagram for dual voice coil wiring. I would consult DIY. Just email them. http://www.diycable.com/main/pdf/shiva_docs.pdf

I can't help myself..... Here is one more option that might be really interesting to you. Look at the top subwoofer kit on this page. http://www.creativesound.ca/ There are a few people out there who have done this now, and it's tuneable. It could provide you with a lot of options and the ability to tune your sub without needed a new box. Pluss PR's can help you take up less space.

ROFLMAO B7, relax, breathe, quit while you are... well quit before you dig a deeper hole for yourself.

Sean, I'm offended. I'm a was a fat kind now I'm a fat man. My feelings I hurt!

Ok, I'll try to make sure it somes in D4. But, of course I will upgrede down the line. How should I build the box, like down firing, front firing, etc...? Thanks for the help I would make a box with the intent to fire forward. If it doesn't make you happy, add legs to it where the baffle is, and make it down firing. I'm no expert, but in my experience orientation makes less of a difference than placement. I have spent a few hours crawling around looking for good placement.

Ok, thanks. Is there a way I could just run the Shiva-x to my Yamaha 8 ohm 100 watt amp from my current sub until I get a new amp? Of course without harming the new sub though. Thanks The only reason I could possibly come up with is, perhaps that amp is mapped with a specific boost or filter made specificaly for that sub. You wouldn't hurt the shiva though.
-
I would be carefull about this. Call DIYcable to confirm but I beleive it only has one terminal for speaker wire. It is dual voice coil, but only one way of wiring. The end impedence is 3.9 I beleive.
-
changing the orientation of the sub probably won't stop rattling. Are you going smaller and sealed so that you can put in some level of dampening?
-
surly I need some of that. Thank you for mentioning it. That is one of my favorite I-had-a-shitty-day-babe,-leave-me-alone-in-the-basement beers.

I hate the crabby uptight feeling I have had so many days recently.... If I hadn't remodeled the house, and had a big wedding I could have quit my job and taken a year off..... =/

Agreed. I'm just mad that PBR costs so much at the bars. The last time I bought a PBR in a bar was a few weeks ago while snowmobiling up North. I think I paid $1.25 for the bottle if you were to go into the urban areas it's more. MUCH more. I saw it selling for 5 bucks for a 16 oz can.
-
That looks the part! My sub set up will need a little more power, but I have different goals and a different budget from the OP.
-
I like pro audio amps for sub work usually. That's mostly preferance, but you don't really need that massive power that a rack amp would provide.
-
Ok. Is the O Audio amp any better than this? Also, what do you mean don't run the sub to my receiver? I was just meaning using my current sub's amp until I could get a better amp. Thanks Not better. Just a different option. I have never used an o audio amp. The guys here do like them.
-
Matt, the guys does sound like a D bag. Some people like that thinks it impresses others.

Come to think of it, I could just take no dose. But then I'm a pill popper, and that isn't socialy acceptable but drinking something perhaps worse for me is. I really miss ephedra. Bad. Coffee is just about the only thing that helps me with my alergies that I have. Or when I have a cold. All that BS that is in cough medicine and pseudaphed makes me feel high. Ephedra cleared my nose and lungs and I didn't feel jittery or goofy.

I drink diet coke. Same reason I drink drip coffee. I like the stimulant.
