I had a full weekend! I helped my grandfather move into his new condo yesterday, brought in the desk he made for my mom when she was young. What a nightmare. His oldest and his youngest (both girls) of 6 trying to help the patriarch and put in their .02 for how everything should be. I found the humor in it. No one else did. Really nice place thoug, lots of people really well apointed, sitting room and rec room on every floor it looks like. Even has a little wood shop with tools in it, which may have sold him on this place. I could tell he wanted to be at the house he just sold though, he had a picture up. Raised 6 there for 64 years. A little movie about him actually won an award at the MN hist society. Though I don't envy how hard his situation is, I'm glad he's somewhere so that when granda passes he will have people and things to do around him.

OUCH! Hope the vehicles are good. No other major damage. And I was going to mention the Panteral is a sexy machine. They always look soo small when I see then in pictures.

are you against pro amps? Not for my other subs, but this one I'd prefer a plate as it is for the living room not the theater room. Makes sense And I should add that I am an idiot and didn't run speaker wire to where the stereo is so the amp has to be next to the sub. The dumb part is that I thought I had. I ran a 16/4 and a 14/4, but in reality I ran two 16/2's (the rear surrounds are right there as well) he he he he he I make those mistakes all the time. It's always because I bite off more than I can chew. I haven't run any wire in my set up at all yet. I'm so ADD it's killing me right now. I have no less than 5 major projects going on. The worste of them being the yard. It's been a battle against ants and weeds since I moved in. Doing yard work while I can is top priority, but I only have a 60% complete kitchen. It's 99% functional at the moment, but needs to finish the dry wall, remove one last cabinet, build the surround for my oven, Move the fridge over, patch up 2 holes in the florring, one of which that has to be removable, Stain the cabinets, then put in the back splash, custom up some trim, and paint. I think then that should be done, and I can maybe start work on other house projects. I have a feeling I would be able to calibrate the system or put the finishing touches on my home theater untill dead of winter.

I'm on the opposite side of your issue. Too much experience and no school. I have a 5-7 years of experience, certifications, 3 degrees and 1/2 to a 4th, and a clearance and it is still not enough, or too much. there is nothing that I hate more than hearing "too experienced" it infuriates me.

I agree. And sorry to hear about the break up.

Summer nats next week in MN. Josh's car has a reserved spot. Supposedly the paint is "done" If I go there will be pics. I have been avoiding seeing cars I want lately as I can't afford the time to do what I need Otherwise last week I may have gone and seen (and probably bought) this: http://www.pim.net/TinMan.html I did not know you were a pantera guy. Can you fit in one, I don't think I have ever seen on in person.

ya me and mike tried it. It was pretty smooth and i enjoyed it no the less. I payed $45 for a 750ml bottle sort of a little to high for me but i bought in anyways to give it a world. what do u normally drink it with or do u drink it straight? I do drink it straight or with ice. I think the ice makes it less smooth though. The LQ by my house has it for under 35, so it's not so bad. I don't drink much either, I have really just about stopped drinking whiskey/burbon/scotch 100%

tmax, did you ever try red breast?

Tom that is horrific. My roomate dropped half of a base for one of the billiard tables I had on his toe and it looked just the same. I hope it heals up for you fast.

So? Just noting why I do not currently spend 90% of my free time messing around with home audio equipment. I lack the information to make use of everything out there. I think the dcx might be over kill then. Again, I only need it currently to EQ and work as a HighPassF for my sub in my home theater. I have a Yamaha 7z for all the rest, and I have not even touched any of the eleventybajillion settings on that, as the room is a work in progress. I'm constantly amazed at the power of that receiver. I do not even have it set up to process the picture, but I can tell right away the picture is comming through much clearer than before. What I am trying to say I only need bass management when it comes to processing at the moment.

the dcx looks like one sweet unit. way more than I think I could ever hope to need/use for just sub management. If I understand it correctly though it would be an amazing tool to use as an in home active cross over, am I correct? That would be fun to use as a project for a really impressive 2 chan in the living room. When I move into the next house I hope it will have a true dedicated HT room. I would love to build a completely active enveloping experience, and maybe even go as far to build each speaker myself. Hidden huge speakers with an 18+ for bass on each chan, with extremely clear mid and highs. :floats off into deam theater land: I would probably end up listening to most 2 chan music with that set up however anyway. <-- would rather run passive at home, but can surely see the benefit of using the 2496 for "trial" crossovers .... I would end up changing drivers all the dang time. I know me. If I had the means, and the space, I would do nothing but putz around with projects like that. I don't now because I don't know enough about sound and how it all works, or what the measurements I could take would mean

speaking of smoking, I made about 14 lbs of pork butt on sunday. MMMmmmMmmmmm I wanted to leave it in the smoker for another 2 hours, it was done, but just a bit more tender would have been ideal. having left overs for lunch today, and dinner tonight. YUM!!!

Borrow mine . B&K though not that cheap stuff. Really, what do you want to measure? I will measure later I have a feeling in room it's going to be a nightmare. That unit(the MIC2200) is just to have a HPF and some EQ capability, it's not an actual MIC ULTRAGAIN PRO MIC2200 2-Channel Tube Microphone Preamplifier/Line Driver/DI Box Features Discrete mic/line input stages with soft mute +48 V phantom power Ultra-wide bandwidth from 2 Hz to 200 kHz for open sound Two fully parametric EQ’s with adjustable center frequency, bandwidth and level Built-in high-quality vacuum tube for outstanding, ultra-musical tube sound Fully tunable and switchable 12 dB high-pass filter Phase reverse switch per channel Level conversion (-10 dBV to +4 dBu) and DI box functionality The MIC2200 is the ideal extension to your console, MIDI setup or hard disk recording system. Its integrated parametric EQ’s give you extra sound-shaping power, while its built-in tube adds warmth and transparency to your signal. In addition, the ULTRAGAIN PRO features direct injection and level conversion functionality. Ah, thought MIC2200 was a mic. Silly me. No worries! I'll call you when it is measuring time have you over sometime for a room calibrating party..... basicaly measure stuff for 15 min and tweak teh EQ, then drink a lot and eat BGE food. =D

I pulled a muscle in my back last night. I did this while WATERING the lawn. I really really wanted to call into work sick today. This is BS my body is falling apart. When my back gets better I am going to go health crazy. I won't let my being a fat ass exasperate my health issues.

Thanks for the tip Ryan2. I know behringer isn't really that amazing, but for ~$50, I was going to consider it. They make halfway decent amplifiers.
