They are cheep. I would have one if I could fit in one.

I hope you're in that 15% if you want to be. It's happening here too.

Miles gettign easier? I've been working the recumbant bike in my basement slowly. Knees are not fond of me movine again.

Grats. Hope you did well!

I just licked the moniter. I think that makes those Aye Emm Geez mine.

I have some extra, hell a lot of it. I'll come down for dinner just about anytime you're ready. I'll bring the beer.

Sometimes I used a POS fan to get the fire started faster.... The top opening on the egg had some crazy flames shooting out of it when I forgot it, and it just burned for 20 min. lol I need to get that gasket material you have. I'm actually not using one at all. I barely notice a difference as it's STILL so much better and more effecient than any other smoker.
-
.. You're smoker is outside though? How long are the leads on the probe and fan? Is the temp reading still accurate? That's incredable to me if it can in fact be remote mounted so far from the egg itself.
-
Sean what is the BBQ fan and monitering device you use/recomend? Also why did you pick that one? I remember it was a bit spendy if I remember correctly. I think I blew the temp gauge on the front of the BGE when I was getting it extremely hot for searing some steaks. Well past where the needle burries. It now reads it's at 100 degrees when it's just sitting cold and won't calibrate. I just know that 200 degrees (boiling water) reads as just under 300 IIRC.

You're going to have to change your handle to TurboS Sean!

I went to a bar last night that had Surley on tap. Oh yes. mMMmmmmm It's even better from the tap. It was furious and the aroma is just amazing. Almost fruit or berry tones to it. Watched some irish dancing while drinking too. Awesome night.

good luck Sean!

I should mention I'm all air cooled. It was built to be silent and is right next to the HT so I wanted it to be SHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm on an intel QXXXX OC to 3+ currently. Asus MoBo. evga gtx, 4 gigs OC corsair(it was cheeper than the cheep stuff for some reason ). Hans G 28" moniter. It's the best deal in moniters IMHO. I might get another couple in fact just because. It's all tucked into a NZXT quiet case. Liquid bearing fans soon I think. 64 bit 7. My sound card just took a dump on me when I switched to 7 a non free version of. Won't play any sound from the computer, only from the net. HD's in raid x I love my machine, but I'm thinking it might take a back seat and work purely as a server pretty soon and then build a new machine.

What is a custom built CPU?

taklin fuel TOP.

What's going on is you loading your cells with all this good stuff. Then at night they can rebuild and repair durring the restorative stages of sleep. Problem is one super mega meal or shake usually stays undigested because the body can't take in as much as you gave it, or you do digest it, but you bottle neck the nutrients at the celular level as they can only take so much in over a certain period also. Real life proof? People who eat many decently meals have a higher metabolism than those that eat 1-2 big ones. Even if they eat a much higher percentage of callories they will tend to be leaner also. One guy likened the metabolism to a fireplace. You need to keep putting in good sized logs into the fire to keep it hot. If you throw in one giant log right when the other one burns out you need to start the fire all over again. The other added bonus is if you decide to eat a whole cheesecake in between your medium healthy meals, you're over fueling a hot inferno, not some ashes that will never consume so much fuel. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else but it made me understand the relationship between caliric intake and how metabolic output benefits from constant fuel.

So long as the sugar buzz is mild and doesn't make you sweat or freak out you're in the zone. Try this for a week, and then maybe try adding a second smaller shake or small extremely lean meal 30 min later. i.e. 30-40 grams of no fat protein and 10-30 grams of fast acting carbs like white rice or no fat bread(gag).

Thanks for the kudos gents. I am trying to keep the posts as small as possible. Describing nutrition scientifically without using theory or perception is maybe the hardest thing. For almost everything we have no idea in-vivo how the body works. Then you throw in marketing jargon that uses science and skews charts to show exagerated results. It may be honest, but it still can be so deceptive. On the other hand my narrative, beleifs, and results can skew the process further. When helping others with a plan I have to think hard about the goal, then dicect real world results that are based in some scientific fact and not theory. If it needs to be tweaked from there, then it can be and you may get WAY better results. Starting with the KISS method and then changing ratios and amounts, adding something, or timing changes can weed out snake out fast. Once you get a rythem going I can help with all kinds of other suplements to try based on what you want to tweek, but this will give a blank sheet to start customising things with. Just jumping in for something really expencive product that may will in fact work is a big waste. This fast digesting card/protein is like the big 3. Even the most bestest amp/enclosure/sub combo means nothing is you don't have a base line that can cope with it. I know Sean especially want's to know how/why stuff works too. You fellas are gonna keep me in line.

AH. Gotcha. It can be different for everyone and some just need to try increasing the sugar to protein ration or lower it blindly. I can instantly tell when I have have too much sugar or not enough. If you get a bit light headed and feel slow and maybe a bit queezy and hungry at the same time, that means that your body needs food. If I wait too long to eat I can even get the shakes and cold sweats. When you have too much sugar you might feel "bloated". For me it's this overloaded feeling. I started with the 4:1 ratio while pedaling and lifting, and it was just too much sugar. I would feel bloated and instead of a great sugar energy rush following that post work out endorphins from a high I would feel overloaded. You will know if it's just right if after you drink the shake you feel tired from the work out, but not weak and shakey. You will still have that great work out buzz, not be bloated and not feel weak. What I found works for me is a 60:30 gram shake RIGHT after I am done working out. Within 5 min. Seriously, you want it in you ASAP. If I pedaled to the river bottoms I would bring my shake with and before I pedal home I would drink it right then and there. Then pedal home nice and slow cooling down. Then ~30 min later I would have another protein shake or can of tuna or chicken breast with maybe 10-20 grams of carbs. Usually had rice available but sometimes I would use my dextrose. My post work out shakes really drive me into a state where my metabolism is ready to go. I spent ~3 years of eating meals every 3 hours, measuing all the carbs and protein and selectively adding 1 supplement at a time and trying it for a while to measure it's effectiveness. My body really talks to me about the food I take in. I was ~265 at the time and in amazing aerobic shape, and decent lifting shape with a super metabolism and a large frame. For most people I think that the shake mix I recomended to you will work. For me though my muscles and body wanted more. So much that my gut couldn't digest it all at once. So instead of one uber mega dose I would have one big one and then a follow up after that one cleared my stomach.

I hate waiting for Techs to come to my house too. Hope he gets the TV fixed.

The weather blows as well. Pun intended Yup. One of those should-have-stayed-in-bed kinda days.

I can't find what I posted before, I'll try to condense it. Dextrose is the simplest form of sugar that we can eat. It is basic energy for cells, and replenishes the stores. It makes the biggest insulin spike and converts to blood glucose ASAP. Glucose is basically Dextrose, just in the blood stream. Using it right after a work out has some other advantages. To sum it up, right after a good work out you have a few things in your body you want to take advantage up. Blood flow, high growth hormone levels, etc. You also want to stop some bad things like cortisol. Cortisol is the hormone that tells your body to break down muscles rather than fat for energy. Physically right after a work out blood is routed to the muscles you just used, so you get the sugar to them when you take it right after a work out. Chemically it's a bit more complex but it basically sets off a growth chain reaction. Sugar and a high insulin spike stop cortisol. Insulin helps shuttle nutrients into cells from the blood. It also works with growth hormones and is beleived that in the climate in vivo right after a good workout increases the bodies growth factors. It can increase it to mega super big amounts(technical term). Since you're also taking in protein right then it helps replenish cells with protein lost or broken durring the excercize. Everything works with synergy to quickly and efficiently get the muscle cells replenished.
