I am happy as a fag in a peter patch. I haven't moved in yet (hopefully this week), but moving from a trailer thats maybe 800 sq ft to a 2,100 sq ft house will be truely EPIC is so many ways. As far as painting, it's one of the few thing's in life I hate with a passion. SO lucky me, the W is doing most of it and my brother is helping her when he can. (as that MF use to be a painter for a living) Interior painting is laborious, but I don't mind. I just like to move fast, and I only use the best paint I can buy so it costs alot

hells yeah. So I just had a head to head vodka battle. kettle one vs svedka. shaken on ice svedka is more mello and less bitter. Kettle left a dirty martini flavor. Svedka could be described as sweeter perhaps. with tonic kettle mopped the floor. It's finish compliments the sweet bitter flavor of tonic. interestingly it made the svedka taste dirty. With juice or energy drink svedka just barely pulls ahead. Though not as clean up front the after taste from kettle is slightly bitter and isn't as ideal. In a gimlit the svedka really shows the upfront alchohol flavor in comparison to kettle. Kettle however definately shows up with some aftertaste. I failed to get cran juice, so no test there. My conclusion for this is that at the same price Kettle may in fact be the better hooch. It's easily the best I have had in the "top shelf" level. Makes grey goose look like something that should be in a plastic bottle. For half the price though svedka is a huge winner. If you drink absolute, sky, or anything in that realm try svedka. If you mix it with juices I think it might be the best vodka to buy. Good to see another discerning vodka drinker. One of my favorites is Zygo. Never tried Zygo, but I'll be looking for it now! Vodka is in my viking blood! I have to drink it.

Sean is saying brown the meat(skin side down) in the cast iron pan and then put it into a preheated over to cook it through untill done. Then remove the meat from that pan and use a deglasing liquid of your choice. Stock is a good start. Then simmer it on low until the volume of the liquid reduces. Then add a thickener. If you want help with seasoning salt and pepper are number one. If your doing chicken you could try sage/taragon.

Agreed, and functionally you have less room on a Cal King since it is narrower. Beds and boats, beam is where it is at. (assuming it is long enough) something else of interest is that I have returned cal kings and the customer changed to a king, but never have I done the reverse. If your dead set on it, then you have to. However opening your mind to a normal king could save a few grand if you need deep pockets and like medium or better quality sheets. I should have 22" pockets for my bed. I just let it be short. I didn't have enough scratch to do it right last time I got sheets. Now I'm pissed, and in a cal king it would cost me dearly.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I think it's been said before but you loose a great deal of bed on a cal king. Unless your 6.666 feet tall it's not really a good option. It costs more, and you have massively less wiggle room on price. They are all special order. The only caveat to that is if it's a floor model from last year on the sales floor and they need to get rid of it. Like a Kia on a Cadillac lot it's got to go! The sheets are more in cost by a great deal and less common. If that doesn't make you feel a bit different, think about the fact that 2 people on a king is effectively the same sleeping room as a twin size per person. It only becomes less when you make it a cal king. Either way, cal king or king, start with the top of the line bed and then keep trying less expencive beds untill it's not good enough. No brand is a clear winner all the time. However if you had to put me on the spot and buy a bed without having tried it..... I would buy whatever kingsdown has in their top beds. At least 40% of my coworkers slept on kingsdown product. Every bedroom of my house has one, every friend I sold a bed to other than 2(one needed a goof cal king , and the other needed to take one that day) purchased a kingsdown. I think 2 or 3 guys here have them roo. Neal I beleive is one.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Not tricks, skills. What would you suggest for me to cook this weekend. I have an oven, no fancy grills and stuff. Some meat maybe, pizza, or something that involves potato and other vegetables? Easy, not very expensive($ ingredients). Any advice on chicken breasts in an oven? That's what I feel about eating. What do you like? Do you have at least a cast iron pan (BY FAR the best cheap option ). If you don't, go spend $15. I like meat and vegetables all in some nice sauce. Cast iron pan - checked. Then I would encourage you to pan cook or pan bake the chicken. Once done, deglaze said pan and then add a thickener of sorts. Do you have a favorite style of pan sauce? If so, I'll help you throuhg it. What's wrong with just doing it in the oven. The stake we do here is done in an oven, but it's common to use pork. I just replace it with chicken cause I don't like the fat. Why is the thickener added? No fav style of pan sauce. Pork loin should be more lean than chicken. Unless you're talking about boneless skinless. And if that's what your talking about, then you're eating to live not eating because it's yummy.

    Welcome to the IHoP

It's probably only 10-20% wine. I usually use home made chicken stock. i buy the fryers then save the bones and make a few gallons of stock. It's not quite the color of urine then... but if I ever use purchased stock it's nice and pee colored. Morels are one of my favorite. Maybe I'll try to get her to eat some on the sly like. Good idea!! I usually use home made as well, but sometimes its from layers and not fryers and the colors are definitely more like pee. That and I ULTRA reduce my stock as it takes less room in my freezer and of course is easy to rehydrate. I always get lazy when trying to reduce my stock. I give up and just put it in a few big jars in the fridge. My stock actually gets a little green from all the fresh herbs. To most, I probably over season my stock. I don't care though, it's what I like and with the fresh herbs in the summer it's just too easy. I think I might take a page from your book though and start freezing it. In the winter I never have enough stock. I usually spatchcock my fryers. Sometimes I even sear them in bacon fat. The stock I make from that is RITCH. Even when I pull the fat off the top you can taste the luxuriant flavor. MMMmmmMm

Teo, Another bit of advice is to have a little more broth than you think. I aim for a little more than double the volume of rice.
