    Welcome to the IHoP

This made me giggle. It was a beast, and now that I have been looking online again I don't think it was one of their high end NXS units.... I will have to see if I can get my hands on one.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Ryan, I got to get my eyes and hands on a nice NF scope. It felt like I could club seals with it. Nice peice of metal. It was a 5-22. What I did like the most was the amazing eye releif. I felt like I could sit a foot away and still see an image. The image was clear and a lot of light came through even on high power. When I got it in focus it was nice and bright. It was on par/better than the leopold mk4 I looked through for brightness. What I was not so fond of was the edges of the image. It warped a bit just around the edge of the image. I was also having an issue with the focus on it somewhat, like I couldn't dial it in just right without spending a long time. The brightness on it was almost a bit much when looking at white objects, I had to angle the scope at a 30-45 degree angle though to find objects at any distance at the store though, so there was definately extra light coming in than would ever be in any practical. What was weird was how tight the magnification ring was. I had to really twist it. It's not a negative really as it was within my ability to do so and on real rings, not the rubber test rings at the shop, it would be much more tollerable. The other goofy thing is the aperatue glass and housing rotates as you turn the magnification. It was definately weird but again isn't bad, just goofy. I did rule out schmidt and bender for sure though. I haven't looked through the police marksman yet, but I am not massively impressed with the magic glass they claim to use. The cost isn't justified from the other ones I looked through.

    Biggest dude on SSA....

I'm 6'2" and was about 445 last year. That is the biggest I have ever been. I shed some pounds and got to about 375, and then a health issue I have slowed me down a bit. It's been said but lake goals, both short and long term goals. Then make an effort to reach for those goals every day. Do something positive every day and it will snowball. The weight will come off faster than you put it on, but you have to keep at it. For me making my goals public help. Telling people helps to keep me accountable. It's a big deal. Be proud of what your doing too. Don't let people get in your way, friends might not understand why your changing and trying so hard and that can be tough. Just stay focused and reclaim your life and health.

It's the question of is that toy worth it to integrate or just get a seperate purpose built range finder and get more math done on paper or the PDA. All in one tool, or several seperate parts. I'm inclined to say several tools but that's just more shit to carry. I don't like the look and I think its kind of cheating to not count clicks etc.... But ill use a calculator for the math anyway so is that cheating?

The big advantage to me is a range finder that integrates to really nice glass. Higher end range finders are 1k for the long distance ones with good optics. It also autocalculates some things and gives you a visual cue to when you have the elevation and Sundays clicked in. One report I read mentioned it measures windage. I think they mean calculates but what ever. The Kant and angle is not as interesting but nifty.

There are. NF is really popular. I have heard the optical glass is only beat by the other brands mentioned. They have a HUGE MOA adjustment. They also have rep of being bombproof. Tons of 50 BMG guys are using them for just that reason. It's just hard to get some of those top brands next to each other. I don't think USO even sells in b and m locations. I haven't looked into it. The local cabellas has NF and S & B but not their higher line up. s&b is just through the roof in cost though. I know that any will probably do great.
