My wife loves wusthof. They are great. But fit my hand like hell. I actually find the Japanese style handles to be the most comfortable to me. Simple wooden dowell with a swell towards my palm. They come in left or right hands. I need to take a knife class. I used to much prefer the santoku style before I did some learning. Now I know enough to rather use a chef knife, but I am not skilled or proficient. I get pissed breaking down vegis sometimes.

Cheap bag ratings are highly inflated. Personally I'll never buy another non-down bag again. Staying warm even when wet is huge. Oh, btw. Most bags that aren't conservatively rated EXPECT that you will be on a thermarest which make a monstrous difference. *haven't camped in the mountains in the winter, but the first fishing trip of the year I take up North usually involves breaking some ice on small lakes and regularly we've had the "luck" of getting temps in the teens at night. They do look comfy: Do you have to carry some device for inflation, or just blow it up? They self inflate I just use a taun taun carcas.

L-6 is some sturdy shit. Corrosion becomes an issues however. I'm not familiar with good ways to keep working knives corrosion free. My Japanese kitchen knives use steel from a company called PowderMetal I think. One is "blue" and the other is "white". I think the Shun top knives use similar metal but then sandwich it with stainless. In those I keep them oiled like crazy. But one time I must not have completely covered one of them. It has the smallest patch of corrosion. Made me furious. I think that if you handle these steels right you can get them to patina and not worry so much about rust. The edge is a differrnt story though. The other option would be to ceracoat it. I worry about sharpening something with ceracoat ruining my stones however.

I used to have this give away "sub zero" bag. I was solid down to -10. I was just a kid, never tried colder. My mom got it free with Marlboro miles I think. It was a POS but I am a human heater. On the road trip back from fla I slept at a truck stop in the back of a uhaul. It was -3 in fucking Texas. All I had were 3-4 ot those furtniture blankets and my buddies mattress. That night I was actually cold.

well..... Those old wooden folders did the job a long time. The Kershaw is what I would pick. It is reversible, and I like the style of locking on that knife. The fancy blade material is up to you. If you know how to sharpen a knife, then having a tougher blade material is just simply, you want it because you want it. I like the blade shape for boxes, and for stabbing things. :-D

Can you link the ones you are looking at if possible? The first thing about EDC is that you will actually carry. Tell me also what you find yourself using a knife for most of the time and I can tell you how that blade type will work.I didn't EDC most of my life. I forget so damn often that I haven't spent money on a nice one for me yet. I buy gerbers on sale or even husky's and throw them in the truck. All are less than 10 bucks. I also love folding box cutters. Throw away blade FTW.Then again I used to handle stock and invintory, so it is a habit from dealing with boxes. All changed last Xmas when my BIL got me a little itty bitty nicer Gerber. I carried it ALL the time. My wife carries 3-5 EVERY day. One in her 5th pocket and then a billion in her purse. She is a little country when it comes to that. LoL

Cheeper than blow too! And you can get fair trade. Try and get good working conditions from the cartels. Tsk tsk tsk.

That tall bastard also STOLE a sweet grinder from CL or ebay. Mazzer super Joy I think was the name. Jelly. If I ground my own beans I would probably drink about 2 times as much. Might be able to kick the energy drink habit too. Sean might even buy his own beans then roast them locally too. I don't remember if that was him who does that. So good.

Then they buy the exact same model as before with a total investment less than yours, and the new one doesn't break. That would be ironic. :P/> I hear ya though. I was super adamant about not spending a lot on glass, and some assholes kept telling me it was worth the investment. Well it turns out they were right. Ha! I actually got into a heated debate with someone about cheap glass recently. They are a much better shooter than me also. And have what we would call garbage equipment. If a $150 dollar scope does it for you, the rock on. He doesn't care when he busts it. Has like 6 laying around. Shoots minuite of deer all day long at any distance the 30-06 or 300wm goes. Different strokes. He also hopped into a truck he was making payments on and rented an apartment. People will do what they will do. And if I have learned ANYTHING it is that the best reason to do something or make a certain decision after you have the info, is because you want to.

I think that is more the issue. Unless you knew espresso is actually uniform sized grains how would you know? And I told Sean it sounded retarded to spend that much on a grinder too because i didnt know better. :-D With the nespresso unit I don't have to think about it though. Really great gift for me. The 600 bucks on grinder and machine will buy me a lot of pods into the future!

Now I get it. Look up burr grinders. They are not the same as the little spinning blade units that you are thinking of. Without that level of even grinding espresso isn't espresso.

I remember when I purchased my electric drill. That thing was stupid expensive, but I wanted it. My FIL purchased a craftsman for a bit more than half the price. Another buddy got a cheaper Dewalt. They pissed me off so bad giving me shit about the cost of that damn drill. Well, in addition to being able to give more torque and having better settings, theirs both broke down on them this year. I got vindicated!

Drip isn't the same as espresso or french press coffee. The reason espresso is what it is, is because of an even grind.

    Welcome to the IHoP

You are going to puke at the price of real grinders. Hard to find anything worth a shit under $250 Only an idiot would spend $250 on a coffee grinder, and I don't care how "good" it is--that's ridiculous. Really hard to get an even grind without it, and without an even grind you don't get your espresso. Maybe one of those hand crank turkish style could. But I don't know.
