I would say that lens is pretty potent. Nice range of use. If you take a lot of distance shots a mid to high power zoom might help.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Any lens can be a "macro lens" for most peoples needs. So I would skip that until you really find a need. What lens do you have now? I have found that on my crop frame the 18-135 does almost anything I need for events and also tourism/zoo and nature. Having a faster wideish prime would be nice for portraits, and an extreme zoom for some events would be great but I can do 99.99% of what I need with this.

When you can rent those 10, 000$ lenses for 40 bucks, life is good.

The high ISO of todays DSLR allows for a lot of cheating though. They can resolve things (at reasonable speed) that I could not with my older camera.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I have completely learned how to cheat with lenses and do more with less. My new 18-135 is fucking perfect for what I do. Even weddings that I shoot. Now, if I did more portraits or sports shooting, I think I wouldn't mind a few wide primes or mega zooms. I found a place that rents the ultra spendy zooms for cheeeeeeeeep for a day. I feel empowered.

Newtown: 27 dead, including 20 children

It is good to hear they are trying something practical SS. Having a plan is better than not. You cannot ever stop people attempting violence, but with planning we can mitigate or reduce the total effect. I think that is good. I have a lot of views about this, that honestly shouldn't play any part in how these events played out. The political and media rhetoric is designed and engineered at this juncture only to make a point and a profit. On either side of the fence. And NONE of it has anything to do with the healing process. That said, when violence involves children, everything in life feels colder. It's hard to imagine any violence against a child, and I think the whole country felt this. No matter how we reacted, left or right, turning in or lashing out, as a country this event has impacted us strongly. As humans we need symbols to get behind so we can champion our beliefs sometimes...... For better or worse it is how we are. My hope is that we all find a way to heal from this as individuals and as a nation.

Ouch! Family is important usually. But sometimes it is more problem than solution.

It's already been done in Wranglers: http://www.hpamotorsport.com/tdijeep.htm Legal issues are my only concern. It would put me in a lower tax and insurance bracket, which would negate the cost of the engine in a few years. And in a better pollution bracket. I think it would be a great swap. I know people with well over 300k miles on those engines without a single problem. And they lived happily in VW minivans (same curb weight as the Jeep), which were popular among the groups carrying people to and from Romania to different countries. Miles and miles, fully loaded and whaled on. 6.2 ford. It puts out less carbons than a fiat 500. Must be better than the little VW black smoke maker.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Damn Sean. What a bummer about the sled. I'm in Maplegrove right now waiting for my cousin to call me back. I didn't know if I would see my family today but I ended up not working so I drove to her general area...... and no one is answering the phone and I don't have the address. If I have to drive home I might not have time to get back out here before turning right back to get home and see the W family tonight. LoL I will definitely be trying your recipe. I think in the book I have the recipe we used is called "soft carmels".

Brown sugar, karo, sweeten condensed, and a splash of vanilla at the end. I think that is it. Hmm. What temp do you take it to. Go through both cracks? 247 is how high we take it. Hmm. I assume you add the sweeten condensed before stirring then. Everything in the pot, stir, vanilla right at the end. I'm really curious about yours now. People always rave that ours are the best they ever had..... I would love to taste the difference.

Replaceable non stick. We make it at the wifes parents house. They even use electric cook top. We make about 5-8 batches for family and co workers etc. This year we made chocolate bark with almods and salt, toffee, and one mint. Then chocolate dipped pretzel rods, same toppings minus the mint. I would like to make a caramel drizzle for them some year, but that sounds like a biatch. I would like to try to see the difference from yours to how we make it.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I am starving. Was up until 4:45 wrapping and packing some home made caramels in bags. Then met my aunt for breakfast at 8:15. Napped the rest of the day away.
