Inside waste band = IWB? Inside wasteband. Usually its the xDm and it is inside. I do need a better belt, but I have even carried it with those Adidas work out pants.

I'm not a big fan of small of the back, to easy for problems if you get knocked over and impossible if seated in a car especially for a big guy like you. For quick holsters that are worth a damn, check out Comp-Tac's MTAC, good, and a 5? day turnaround. None of this wait 6 months for a damn holster crap. Strong side hip is easy, and for a big guy like you, you could hide a bazooka easy. I will look into them. I always feel somethint hitting my hip when strong side. It didn't matter before, but it's tough on me now. I carry at home regularly, just as practice for how it feels.

Speaking of arthritis I just got back from trying out a new local gym. 3-6 months ago I was working towards benching 300 for reps. I was at about 270 for 8. Today, on a machine no less, I could barely push 150 for 6. I had to move it down to 130. I was doing rope push downs for my triceps with 120. I couldn't do more than 60. 90 dumbell for overhead tricep press was easy, now I used a 35 pounder..... so sad. I am affraid to see how much my legs have lost.

Funny you mention small of your back. I plan to get my carry permit soon and I will probably carry there. I'm a fat guy and it is a really easy to conceal place for me. On my hip is a little uncomfortable with my arthritis. Appendix is another option, but being a chubby guy it isn't really a good place. When I loose weight though it might be the place.

I agree with your point frosty the flake man! Comfort is #1 when it comes to firearms. It's why I have learned to shut my mouth when helping people new to them. I can tell you all the data and science and how things do and should work. What ballistics are best for defense. How to handle a situation properly, and best methods and practices. Flat out though, if you are not comfortable with a gun or style of carry all the facts in the world won't make up for our lack of confidence. I talked about that earlier with the popularity of the judge. Balistically, it is one of the absolute worst defense guns. But if you are comfortable with it, then it makes a lot of sense. It is an intimidating weapon and capable of lethal damage. So is a 22, and I would rather have a 22 I felt I could drive properly than something I was nervous to shoot, or even worse, nothing at all. Somtimes that is more important than all the science in the world. Also just because you carry doesn't mean you will choose to use it. I doubt I would try to pull my gun if I was within inches of someone who already had a gun on me and just wanted my wallet. But if I felt there was no way I could get out of it without taking a round I would rather have the chance to fight back than not. Shit there were people who carried at some of the recent shootings, and they didn't feel like they had a reasonable shot and didn't fire back. Just because yoh carry doesn't mean every situation needs lethal force.

In home defense milliseconds are life seconds. Very true. I just know with the amount of crazed druggies that you find in AZ I'll take 15 rounds of .45 over 17 of 9mm any day.J My xdm holds 21-22 in standard non CA magazine for 9mm. ....what, mine is only 19+1???I agree with J on the safety talk too. Modern autos have more safeties than even needed. And revolvers are a joke to reload. Even with a speed reloader Many people love that judge too. I personally think it is not a good choice but it inspires a lot of confidence in the shooter and terrifies bad guys. I would be much more afraid of a person with a good working modern auto of any caliber. Your right, I can't count. I love .45 personally too. I think it is a better caliber than 9mm, but in the thick of it, more rounds sometimes trump more thump.

I respectfully disagree about the revolver thing J. I think revolvers are great but a singe stage trigger ,striker, auto loader is maybe the most simple firearm to USE. Rack it and bang until no bangs. Then load next mag, tug slide and bang away some more. Wheel guns handle recoil nicely, but are in truth much tougher to shoot. Not the least of which is a fucking looooooooooong trigger pul.

What powder did you get Stefan? I have been thinking about trying them again. If you are dead set on leaving them the 100% whey from muscle milk at costco is a really good price for super top level protein.

More flame thrower than anything, the 44mag pukes a fireball with a decent barrel.

One of the coolest guns I saw recently was a single shot 500 short barrel pistol with a silencer. Ultra heavy pills and kept them sub sonic. Fucking ninja quiet and a bajillion pounds of force at "medium" range. Fucking hog murderer. Adapt a semi auo platform for that and it would be just something amazing. If you limit speed to subsonic the diameter and total mass of the object matter most and damn can you make some big heavy boolits with that 500 platform.
