Read the label on the curry paste. You'll laugh. Of course, it is a spice blend. If I had to choose though I'd take a curry base over a spice blend any day. Of course by keeping things wet it means you can do different processing up front. Either way making your own is not hard.Indeed. Something changed in how I approach cooking and started wanting to learn it. And a wet base is so far ahead of a spice blend its crazy. I'm lucky. Most of my childhood I ate extremely diverse. Helps me with knowing flavors. Now I'm getting to the point where I can match many flavors to their origins and paint my meals by way of knowing how they come together. Deconstructing and now reassembling them to get the flavors I want. Kind of like when you learn a new set of math proofs or science law. I could fake it before and just go through the motions, but now I am learning to control and manipulate my food.

I do this every day, too. Not a lot of leafy green veggies, though. Can't stand most of them. You can't taste the spinach. The vitamix destroys it. We buy the HUGE bag at Costco, use about half of it fresh, then before it goes bad, freeze it and use it frozen.Really makes a difference. <-has never thought of freezing spinach. When mine starts to go I cook it. I can eat a whole Costco box in a sitting that way. in fact I'll be using one for dinner tonight.I make sure to freeze it without compressing it. Blends like a fucking dream then. I am going to try getting her to eat wakame salad. Do you have any suggestions for what kind to buy? I have NO experience with wakame until miso soup but I LOVE thay salad at sushi joints. I could easily eat a plate or 2 of it.

I never had that issue, and my metabolism is still super high, and I no longer work out.And by not working out you are not burning off as much calories. Resistance training both boosts metabolism and requires a surplus of nutrients to make "gains". So you in a way you need a logarithmic increase in nutrients. So in your situation it's not surprising that you stopped working out and you didn't start loosing muscle. I bet your strength output and general ccardiovascular and aerobic performance have dropped. Not a bad thing by itself.

I have to order a jug for the protein every time. I tried to do the food grade bag and pour into an empty jug, but the amount lost and the mess made and the hassle is not worth it.Aaron, What about moving the protein into the top and cut off the bottom corner? Make like a funnel with the bag. Should pour right in with no spill. J Tried that. The gemmo protein is very clumpy and does not flow out easy, then just sticks to everything it has floated down upon. Well shit. Maybe just set the opened bag inside an open jug? J I have done that.

The problem with a couple big meals a day is it will definitely lead to muscles wasting away when your active. In Stefan's case even more so. He gets so much activity on top of the resistance training the muscles will starve trying to stay at a heavier weight.

5' 9.5" So I have the frame to get fairly big. Does it have other stuff besides Omega 3 & 6? Reason I ask is I still eat a fair amount of sardines and salmon. Another thing I want to try is cod liver oil for vitamin k. Walk around town with a tackle box of Udo's oil selling it like bud deliveries in CA. LMAO! It might have some vitamins. I never really paid attentiom. However, it is more than the label gives you. I don't know how or why. Maybe his cold press and unique blend preserve something. It just works in making you feel better. The skinny fellas just add it into the shake for more kcall. The shake I usually recommend is a banana, or 2 if you need it., 30-50 grams of protein. Add a few tbsp of Udo's at the rate you feel you need to hit the kcal. Kind of like your butter drinking or olive oil drinking. Super dense. And it just works somehow.

First off, I know how hard it can be for some people to gain strength, size, and endurance. Congratulations, that is awesome. fawk.... how tall are you stefan? One of the best products for guys having trouble gaining is Udo's oil. I have put 5-6 ultra skinny guys on it, and it helped all of them gain pretty well. Just something to add to your protein shake. I almost never recommend a brand, or product in general anymore. But that product has helps so many fellas I have trained with. I wish I repped their products. It is something I should be using myself, just poor lifestyle has prevented me.

I trained my body to be that way, then it all went to hell. It's about activity level, adapting to needs, and being active. Our amounts of food were different though. I was in the 3500-7000 kcal level for 4-5 years. I burned off more than I ate though. I was losing pound after pound throughout the whole time. Sometimes i was gaining so much muscle it didnt make the scale move much thougb.

I really want some chilli now, damnit. No beef here either. I don't think I even have ground. For the record I never used chilli powder in the mixed spices sence of the word since I have been an adult.

Pretty much. I've actually been getting 1.34lb packets of 85% lean 15% fat ground beef from Costco, half gallon of lactose free whole milk, pre wo shake, post wo shake, dinner with veggies, and I'm finally up where I need to be. Eating that much ground beef every other day perhaps isn't the best idea, but it's working for a few weeks until I rotate to something else. Maybe it's just the fat kid in me but I don't understand how someone not afraid of calorie dense food can have issues getting enough calories. His foods are filling. The fat guy in us all likes foods that do not fill us. Protein and fat and micro nutritient dense foods fill both the satiated type needs and the metabolic needs for our body, so unless we work so hard we NEED more, we feel full. Also my guess is if he eats to much he feels weighted down. Uncomfortable. People with less awesome food choices eat too much and our brain kind of gives us a pleasant shut down command. Like the thanksgiving nap. Stefan is really non sedentary. Active even when not really active. So being filled to the top is unpleasant. Chubby people usually like feeling "full". It's comforting. Really active people interpret it as holding them back and associate it with discomfort.

Crazy ass show.

You need a hug peng?

I make curry pretty frequently, but I unusually use a wet made curry base and then add in the protein and onion etc etc. It was the a few times ago using a powder and then adding to it that I decided I wanted to build my own curries.

You gonna shit funny for a week. Prolly. That is what metamucil is for.

I am proud of the wife though. She wants to start a vegi garden and try new vegis. I think she can feel the difference the spinach makes in her body.

You talked about toasting spices and Indian food. So funny because I just talked with the wife about how we are goind to start eating more Indian food and I want to learn how to weild the spices. I am a bit nervous about turmeric, it is a root like ginger correct? I also never in my life though of grinding my own chili's. It just never even popled into my head. Though I know it will be a long time beforen I give up onion and garlic powder it's slowly going away. I fucking hate pealing garlic though.
-
Two carrots and two stalks of celery is a full serving of veggies? Yikes.I know my wife will get only one serving if I don't try to hide some in dinner. She just plain hates vegis.
-
I bet it takes me less time to make chili with all fresh ingredients than it takes you to make it with off the shelf stuff.Knife skills are the key to cooking. Obviously there aren't so many needed for chili, but nonetheless I am not slow at anything I do. ...or I could have just read the next page. Seriously, I need to take a knife class. I'm competent, but no ninja yet.

The way he cooks is actually faster. Sounds counter intuitive, but in the long run he has an understanding of spices anx how to use them and knows what to expect. My guess is also he can process food with a knife some 10-20 times faster and more evenly than you. And knife work is the most time consuming part of cooking with whole foods.
-
No, thanks though. Sounds cool.

My wife will not eat vegis, so every morning, she gets a smoothie with a couple frozen strawberries, some OJ a cup of spinach (or other vegi that is mellow in flavor) and a scoop of protein. Usually an extra few ice cubes. Sometimes I will add milk or extra fiber. She drinks it and it literally has increased her vegi intake by more than tripple I bet.

If only it wasn't with PB and oats. No PB for you? You could just omit those and add some flax oil, or if that is too close to eating grains coconut oil. Skip the milk and use more creme is another way.
