When you make a chemical really close to another chemical, and don't pay for the absolute top manufacturing process and people, you will often end up with a few different chemicals. Amphetamines are amazing and super helpful in many variations. I miss ephedra so much. Only thing that helped my congestion. Sudafed doesn't work as well, and makes me feel dirty if I have to take it for more than a day or so... Amphetamines will enhance performance though, so I guess a ban makes sense with current logic. I do believe that it is the dumbest logic in the world to restrict performance enhancing drugs they way they do.

If it is bolt action it really isn't much of an AR is it? The OP wanted opinions on the AR platform. It really looses it's basis of being an AR when using a completely non AR related upper to shoot rounds that often destroy the lower. It doesn't feed the same, operate the same, or extract the same. The only similarities are the trigger set up. You could basically weld the magazine well shut and it would just be a poor trigger set up for a 50 BMG.

You still can't feed 50bmg rounds through the lower receiver of an AR - 15. It is physically bigger than the space for the magazine. It's a bolt action gun on an AR lower.

For the 1000 price range you could build a nice AR-15 or a better than average AR-10. If you buy it outright and put together it would really exclude the AR-10 platform unless you find a screaming deal/used gun. Again, if you are looking at the AR-15s any of the major brands would be fine. If you are interest in the larger AR-10 platform I would encourage you to use the DPMS styled lower. There are more options in bot magazines and parts in general. The Armalite is fine, but really much less supported. To me, the only benefit of going with a .223 caliber is cheeeeeeeeeep bullits if you don't reload. They won't be accurate however. The larger AR-10 is more versatile but harder to find dirt cheep amp for. If your ranges for shooting are more than 300 yards you would benefit from a .308 bolt face cartridge like a .260 or 6.5 CM.

Unfortunately an AR -15 cannot handle the .308 uppers. The reverse is also true unless someone recently made a new change. You basically can have a rifle that uses the bolt face from the .223 or the .308. Not both. Does that make sense? I may not be explaining it in a good way....

The AR platform isn't my ideal choice, but because of it's modular design and insane abundance of parts it is a good option. Some of the best parts about AR platforms is you can go from semi auto to "bolt like action" by using an adjustable gas block. Nice convertable option. When I get my AR-10 worked on I plan on getting a gas block for it and maybe a 6.5 CM upper. Something to match what ever bolt action I build.

If you are set on .223 and the AR platform, Bushmaster is fine as is Armalite. I feel that DPMS makes a better entry level product, but that is a bit subjective. If JP does work with .223 they would be a great system to look into. Buying a brownells catalog for AR platform rifles might be something useful to browse to see the billion different configurations you can start with. Sky is the limit. If you want to hunt anything bigger, maybe an AR-10 that fires .308 might be a better option. Still the platform you are keen to, but a more versatile round, and if you decide to upgrade to a better cartridge like the 6.5 CM or .260 you will have a receiver capable of doing it. You could even get several uppers and switch them out and have a variety of cartridges to choose from.

Saw those and yes some say they are. I just sold a bunch of car audio stuff so about $1000 as of now. I do still have more to sell so I would have more though if needed. Obviously I don't NEED it, but to me it would be something I would enjoy a lot. I really like shooting and have the property to go hunting for small game. I will not just shoot to kill.
