OK.... so I was wrong somehow. It looks like the 997 started in model year 2005..... The M5 was often caught doing 0-60 in 4.1, but it was advertised as much slower. From the data I have now, the 997 S would hit it at about 4.5....

I am absolutely in love with the M6 coupe. I want a black one so bad it isn't even funny, but a low mileage M6 is out of my price range atmlooks nice, but feels soooooooo slow. Maybe it is as quick as the M5, but it doesn't respond as quick and it's much more yacht than speed boat.

It might be on the ticket. The W actually told me today that she would rather me spend the extra on a car I would really be happy driving with lower miles than to get a new car for herself. Broke my heart. She did say she would steel the RS4 if I got it, and take it everymorning before I wake up. For what ever reason she finds that car to be her unicorn. That is sweet. I was thinking one with 80k to fit the $10k window. IMO that'd be money better spent than an edge with 30kShe has a LOT of guilt in some ways. If she moved into my house instead of staying in the cities I wouldn't have forclosed way back when. She knows I would have purchased some stupid car a long time ago if I didn't have our bills and wasn't thinking about her student loans. I also give her baby brother a deal on my moms old place, and she knows I am planning financially and practically for when her parents get old that I will probably have to take care of them, or she will have to work from home so she can. One of the reasons I hate wanting nice toys is because she ultimately thinks it's her fault I don't buy them. .... And yes, the edge fucking blows.

Ain't that the truth. We are thinking maybe an escape, or similar. If not, the g37 would make her toes tingle I bet. It doesn't feel fast like we think of it, but she will find it to be a hoot.

The company isn't what it was a long time ago. And jobs was the key IMHO. The 'usefullness' of a iPad is very limited, I can agree with that. It certainly takes getting used to. J One thing that is nice about them is they are dumb as shit, and make for great platforms to duplicate. As in they are great "fleet tablets" for schools and for huge business.

Also true.

80k p car is like a 30k anything else. At least for the 911. Just those couple years of problems with the entry 996s.

We have no plans, so it's waaaaay too easy to justify for me. Why not a 2 door then? Almost always easier to get in for us undersized guys. It's totally on the menu. 100%I just cannot find anything with 50000 miles or so that is $30000 Does the car explode at 50k?No. But it is indicative of wear.

996 went until at least 2006. I'm going to hop on the PC. Too many windows open on the phone now. Lol

I'm shocked at how nasty bad ass that E60 gets when power is on and S mode is ready. I didn't let them spin, but I could have made the whole test drive sideways.Despite the TQ advantage the E55 and E63 Benz feel tame. I think the suspension is just kinder to the tires on Benz. The M5 is much more intense. It also feels lighter and tighter though. I think your memory is old. The E55 is the nastiest of the three, BY FAR, then the E63 then the E60. The E60 has by far the best suspension though and is much better at pounding corners, but from an engine standpoint the E60 is rather tame until you really make it spin. I drove all three back to back to back and couldn't believe how soft the E60 felt. The E55 I took for a walk must have been neutered. I could spin the tires, but it didn't feel like power.I kept the v10 spinning high for my little trip, I have become much more bold when test driving and I pound corners hard now. A friend who I usually go car browsing with has frequently mentioned he hates how hard I corner. In the explorer the sales guy and my buddy had white hands. I can only imagine if they had been there for the M5. One of the Dinan guys was with me in the X5M from Motorwerks. His comment was that the gas pedal seems to have an affinity for being planted when I drive. Said it was the most aggressive test drive that was in control he'd been on. Knew I wasn't buying it at the end and asked me to come back when they got something else fun in.The Jeep SRT I recently drove was similar. That guy was so nice I took him for a much nastier rip in the ML after. I have to go for a ride in your ML before you say goodbye. That v8 sounds so beastly. The M5 today would have made it sound like a kitten though. The exhaust that was on it was a bit loud. Not insane, but definitely amped up a bit, and it revs soooooo high the noise is pretty intoxicating. I kind of miss the growls I have been hearing today. #exhaustnoisewithdrawl

I cannot find a 997 for under 30 anywhere. I would like the S or GTS, but maybe the 997 is enough upgrade from the 996 I won't care. The 996 S I test drove is the only car that compares to the v8m3 and now the E60 M5. The Porsche gives such a feeling of athletic skill it's insane. I also grew up driving hot imports and small wrung out cars so the 911 platform really feels comfortable and I can drive it so precisely. It's "natural". Very unlike the UN natural m5 lol

Exactly why I am not 100% sold on getting an 08 CTT myself. Car is free I ONLY pay maintenance...but I am still a bit queasy on the process.I can understand that. My desire for a nice car is so stupid. I wish I could get rid of it. It makes me really depressed. Too much of my energy is spent for my desire of something that is irrational. I should take the money for the car, buy a civic, part out the expedition and put the cash in an IRA.
