    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

What about a unipod? If your not using a timer it may be the best option as they can fold up smaller and be more user friendly in smaller spots.JUnipods are functionally useless IMOWorked great for concerts when the 'press line' was pushed back about 20 yards behind the front row due to flames. Not saying its a great idea, just tossing it out there. J How did it benefit you? When snapping action it's like always having a pole to lean on. It helps to reduce the amplitude of your wobble, but it doesn't stop it. It can help with some sports too. Soccer game for Jr or bike racing. It just keeps the camera closer to ready in those situations.

Monopods are great for getting action if you have to hold a heavy body and lens up for hours. They aren't that helpful for long exposures.

Though the difference between the 1.4 and 1.2 is a about the price of a used FF.

I think the 1.2 is the cheepest 1.2 also. I spent time with them all and after holding the 1.2, I didn't want to give it back. The 24-70 from tamron however was way less emotional. The IS helped a ton, and despite the AF being a hair slower, it saved me as much as the 1.2 cost me above the 1.2.

Your 1.4 made me want a fast prime. It's the most common lens for me to have on the camera. I walk around at night a lot. Or shoot friends at the bar, or BBQ, and actually have some really cool pics of the city from your 1.4. The 1.2 was a splurge and does let me get nearly grain free hand helds at night. I can shoot in light so low the 24-70 doesn't even want to take a pic.

I hAve a 50mm (35 mm with crop factor) 1.8 and it's great for shooting people and low light situations.Crop factor brings the number up, not down. So closer to an 80-85mm. Great length for portraits. My 50mm is about perfect to walk around and shoot shoulder up, and interesting scenes. But it's not wide enough for any architecture. That's for fucking sure.

This will be a learning experience, as sharpness is really the last thing that comes into play for most portraits. Get the eyes sharp and then the softness fall off is usually flattering. Than again, the 70-200 has no soft spots other than bokeh. Fucking magic lens.

I have a great aluminum one, but it's too big to travel with. I haven't even looked at tripods to bring.

I NEVER have a tripod.Me neither, but I'd carry one way before I'd carry everthing else you are.I'm going to "work" on this trip though. :-)

You can have a lot of fun with a narrow DOF and wide angle. It's more cinema usually from what I have been watching, but I have been pouring over pictures. You know, over examination of a simple problem. :-) Always trying to minimize cost, maximize results, and also not end up wishing I would have done something different.

So, help me think...... I always want shallow DOF, and more light. I will get a FF at some point and have one crop and one FF. The new 5Div is probably on the way, and so is the remodeled 7D. The sigma is wide with lots of light, but cannot be used on the inevitable FF. Buying a new body before the new ones release would be a bad idea as even if I don't want the latest and best, the last gen will drop in price..... If I get the Tokina it will only go to 16mm and on a crop, that ain't so wide.

Told yaExutive chef was a classmate of the buddy I went with. We looked super gay. Also I think my friend may have picked on the chef at one point. So I'm fairly certain our food was covered in jizz and it was still great! Foie gras meatballs always makes me laughDo you like his balls? We need to know.

Or buy a daily lens that already gets wide.We shoot differently. I bought a wide before a zoom. Although to be fair I owned a Superzoom first. Indeed, I shoot 90% people and indoors a lot, or LOW light. It makes that Sigma with 1.8f really appealing. It goes against my buying only FF lenses. So, do I buy the Sigma be happy with the low light skills for now but have a lens that won't work on the FF, buy the Tokina or similar and learn to "cope" with 2.8, or buy a FF lens and the Tokina wide and have better ISO and better light sensing skills now?

I had lobster stuffed chicken. I ordered because it was odd and new to the menu. Definitely odd. Worked. In a weird way. Foie salad with a soft boiled and lardon was yummy. Big prawns were perfect. Buddy got a nori crusted sirloin in ponzu. I dislike sirloin and never get steak as unless the place is a steak place, but the flavor was great. On a NY strip or fillet it may have been perfect. Pear tart was disappointing. I love pear and it would have been better with Apple's.
