Thursday, May 28: Loaded up and drove to the hotel in Dallas. Thirty minutes after we leave I get a phone call. Its the marketing company I applied to, they want to set up an interview. Sweet, set up the interview for one on Monday. Wait, did I leave my suit at my college apartment? I think I did. Oh fuck, detour...oh fuck it we'll get on the way back home Sunday. Arrived a little after 4, sister arrived in her car about a half hour later. Unloaded everything into the hotel room, didn't feel like driving anymore than we had to so we just ate at the Kerm's Restaurant downstairs and went to grab the registration packet at the convention center, and retired for the night after watching Liam Neeson kick all manner of Albanian ass. Friday, May 29: Had a great breakfast at the Original Market Diner. A-Kon for a few hours, went sight seeing, shopping, what have you. Turns out Macy's is having a sell on men's suits, so we decided might as well see what they have. Snagged a pretty good deal on a nice black wool suit, had the tailor there hem the pants for us. Had another great meal at the Mi Cocina inside the mall for lunch. More shopping. Ate at some steakhouse I can't remember the name of and settled down in the hotel room for the night. Saturday, May 30: Breakfast at Kerm's, lazed around the hotel room until lunch. Went downstairs to find lunch. Suburban wouldn't start. Fuck. Check the relays...relays work. Check the battery cables for corrosion...no corrosion, tightened them some more. No dice. Crawl under it and check the starter. A small number of teeth on the starter gear have worn down and don't engage the flywheel. Grab a Crescent wrench for some impromptu STOP! HAMMERTIME! action, teeth engage and it fires right up. With all the time consumed fixing the Suburban we decide on just going to the Original Market Diner again. More A-Kon. Picked the suit up from Macy's, had my first Jamba Juice. It was really good, certainly not ZOMFGBESTEVER, but refreshing and delicious nontheless. Raised some hell at the Fort Worth Stockyards; whiskey highballs, pool, amongst other things... Sunday, May 31: Another breakfast at Kerm's. Loaded up the cars and caravaned it down I-35W, sister and dad in the Corolla, me and mom leading in the Suburban. All of a sudden cell phone starts ringing. It's dad franticing telling us to pull of the highway and into a parking lot. Something is dangling off the axle or the rear part of the frame or something. Closer inspection reveals the bottom bolt and nut on the passenger side rear shock are gone. Just...gone...and the shock is just sitting there dangling...the fuck...mounting tabs on both axle and frame are fine, bolt and nut on the top part of the shock are still in place and plenty tight. Oh well, just let it dangle till we get back home. Ate lunch at the Cracker Barrel in DeSoto, sister went back home, as did we. Managed to make it back before sunset. And after all of this driving, another 7-8 hours of driving lay ahead of us tomorrow when I drive (ride I guess would be the correct term) to Austin for that job interview. Pics O'Plenty Here So...what the fuck have y'all done lately?
