Cycling shorts are compression shorts with padding on the ass.

You wear them in baseball. Underneath the pants. Essentially they're compression shorts with padding where you would normally slide.

I won't advocate this particular brand of sliding shorts for use in baseball though. Too much padding.

Got a good price on a pair of heavy sliding shorts for the gym. Checked out some compression shorts/pants, cycling shorts, and swim jammers/legskins too, but these sliding shorts ended up providing the thickest material/padding.
