    FI Q 10 Or 12

yes you are correct, Fi specs for that sub are .8 -1.5 cuft sealed, so 1.3 sounds just about perfect

    What configuration and amp? (2 Fi 12" 1ohm Q's)

fosgate t15001bd or t20001bd, or a sundown audio 1500d. the sundown is 600, the fosgates are a little more but you can find good deals on them online. to save some money you could go with a hifonics brutus 2006d, but it's nothing near the quality of the others mentioned, but would def. get some bump going for not a whole lot of money.

    Scott, please read!!

I'm kinda interested about this paper, would you mind posting it on here for us to read? Will be interesting to see all of what I normally can do or think of actually organized on paper and in a lot greater detail with research done.

    FI Q 10 Or 12

to the original poster if it was me i'd do one fi Q ported w/bp power option on that amp. hey, aren't I the guy that pointed you in the direction of Fi on the sounddomain forum? i remember your setup. just for your information, i have a 15" Q with bp on 1230 tested power, probably getting 950. 4.8 cuft after port, and I walked all over two 15" ported solobaric L5's on a 2500 watt audiobahn flam series (their so called high-end competition series). anyway it was fun good guy from work. but that would give you an idea of how loud these subs can be. if you were to listen to your car then mine, you'd probably laugh at your own setup. and my 15 sounds awesome, full sound, hits every note, and can still play tight bass perfect. i even think one 10" Q in a ported box would knock your socks off and save a lot of space, plus less weight on the supra sorry wrote all that before reading page 2, that system will absolutely amazing sounding, just make sure the box is built to Fi specs, not w/e goofiness that shop thinks they know. and of course being Fi, they should drop like a mofo!

Ported and tuned to 33hz now.... how about 28hz

should be fine to make it longer, i love my box tuned at 28 hz, i listen to a lot of hip/hop so some of the young jock and young jeezy that really drops sounds awesome!!

    Shirts??? Stickers???

would love some Fi apparel, how about some all black stuff with Fi in white? i guess i look goofing wearing the same white Fi shirt 2-3 times a week LOL. i want a hoody badly!!
  9. I feel your pain, sorta, never dealt with bags but I sure as hell know what it's like to feel like the car is fighting back or something! Stick with it this is going to be the baddest caddy "hoopty" on the street fo sho!

    RF T1 recone

Not sure how you liked the T1, but personally I'd much rather prefer the Fi subs, and the SSD's are a great price. Huge fan of the rockford amps, but IMO the subs are lacking. I would save the effort and get a new Fi.

best way to wire a dvc 1ohm bl

agreed here's a diagram for you http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woof...mp;woofer_imp=3 only difference is, your's is dual 1 ohm not dual 2 ohm, so you'd get a 2 ohm load not a 4 ohm like the diagram shows

Finally a place where it is about Fi

what kind of music do you listen to? this can determine where to tune your box, i love really deep bass and listening to rap, so i tuned mine to 28hz and it drops like a mofo! but i don't necessarily recommend tuning that low, not the best for everyone. here's a couple amps to keep in mind if you want to power both with one amp. sundown audio saz-3000d rockford fosgate t4000.1bd just depends on how loud you want it, and if you plan on ever going to a competition. and for size of box, well i like big ported boxes and moving lots of air, but just tell us exactly what you want the system to do and Scott or someone else can probably design a better box then I can.
  13. it takes a gangsta to be gangsta NICE JOB MEADE!! *cough* mids and highs *cough*

    Hot Sub

yes i know, i've been using this HU for over 3 years and been hooked up to this amp for 5 months, had it on different subs before, but ur right i should use a dmm, how exactly do you do that again? I have one but forgot how to do it.

    Hot Sub

So i got my 15Qd2, and it seems to be running pretty warm. No smoke or anything, just that when i get home from banging on it a bit it feels a little hot. Just got it two weeks ago so not sure if it's still just from breaking in, which i'm thinking not, or maybe from low voltage?? It's running off of a fosgate p1000-1bd and the gain is just over half and under 3/4. My lights do dim a lot when it hits. There is a little smell, but smells more like breaking in smell, not vc burning smell, hence no smoke and when i took it out a few days ago vc still looked brand new. Basically, any thoughts on getting the sub to run cooler?? I'm thinking this could become an issue if played for over an hour at a time. My only thought is voltage. Oh and other odd thing, the amp is running cool, speaker amp hot, but sub amp is cool??
  16. mjmarovi

    Hot Sub

the bass boost is off, or for fosgate the "punch eq" and i don't see how barely over half (directly vertical) is too high of a gain. in most cases i would consider amp to be safe at least to 3/4.
  17. i'd like to see a couple sets of focal k2powers up there, they would scream!!! and not to mention SQ, of course i'd hope for 1200 a pair.
  18. mjmarovi

    Which one?

that's about what i spent on my system, except i got a discount from work on the amps so you'd have to find another option there. for 1500 i'd go with a simple alpine or eclipse deck, somewhere around 160-170 bucks that has ipod-ready HD radio ready, and all the new bells and whistles. next front stage, somewhere around 300 dollars, personally i'd go with polk momo's, i have the db series and love them. (although dropping an extra k on new front stage in the coming months) i'm running a 15" Q d2 w/bp. i have it in a huge ported box and can see it taking 1600-1800 daily. i've got 1200 on it now. if build your own box, something simple, no fiberglass and stuff materials should be 50 bucks, if you have the tools. then for amps, you just need to find deals around on the web, not hard to do really www.woofersetc.com is one try. i've heard nothing but good from them except for one order somebody put in on focal speakers wasn't quite right. now for the numbers, total cost of above is 789 which leaves 711 for amps and wiring kit for the amps, i'd get a wiring kit from woofersetc for cheap, like a multi-amp one, don't see how that wouldn't be the "real deal" oh yes, and if you noticed i didn't mention rear fill, because it's unnecessary. IMO best thing to do is bridge your 4-channel on a decent set of front stage and they will sound awesome!! speakers love power i have around 250 on each of my polkdb6501's up front and they sound sooo clean and get soo loud with no distortion because gain is down on the amp (a plus from bridging all that power on them)

how much power do your BTL's see

well, if you go with the RF t4000.1bd, it will test around and probably at least 5k watts, which helps with the power loss part to get closer to that 4k. Steve Meade runs all fosgate amps all the time, slaps the crap out of this subs all day long with over 5 k a sub....so between the memphis amp and the RF i'd say RF anyday no question about it, but i have heard good things about the sundown audio's. speaking of...what is their strongpoint compared to RF?? more efficient? are they underrated at all?? low distortion?? j/w seems a lot of ppl use them on here

    18's

definitely on the install man, but i will say my Q15 with BP does all of that, i have it in a 4.8 cuft box after port, tuned to 28hz, and it absolutely slams. waiting on video camera, but i can move quite a bit of air, paper and shirts are no problem at front windows, and hair, well not too impressive, but impressive enough for 1 15 on 1200 watts!!! the Q is the sound quality line, and i don't think a fully loaded BL is necessary just for 1500 watts. only setup i've heard with the havocs was like 8 15's so not really any help there!
  21. mjmarovi

    I'm considering a switch.....

probably becuase they're not running Fi, lol. you need to just configure how much port you need for w/e tuning you want, all this 4 ports, 6 ports doesn' t mean jack to me. remember, if it's a 4" rule of thumb is 4 inches from sidewall and 4 " off the backwall. you can't just throw those tubes anywhere.
  22. i love the wheels actually, lol, i mean some 26" asanti's wouldn't be bad either but those aren't bad

    Q amp recommendations

i like the polk db's i'm running right now, and i love the momo's personally i would stick with them, i'm still contemplating those or the infinity kappa perfects, but leaning toward the infinity's. that one amp won't cut it, to get enough power out of that amp it will run hot, and give a distorted signal at high volume in turn killing the speakers. what brands do we have to work with? since it seems you work somewhere you can get a discount. you need an amp that can deliver 12-1300 clean watts of power to each subwoofer, which means you need either two 1500 watt amps or one 3000 watt amp. reason for higher power is that you will never get full power from an amplifier, voltage loss, wiring, etc. and you want to be able to keep the gain down.

    God of Bass??

So I was checking out some more vids of systems today and being bored, and realized how many people have switched over to a woofer designed by Scott, mainly Fi. It seems everyday new videos are being broadcasted with Fi woofers tearing apart daily vehicles, along with competitions being won on local and championship levels. My question to everyone on this forum is, "are we living during the era of the God of Bass?" Just begin to look around the web, I believe the victor is clear. Scott Atwell is the God of Bass. Just want to acknowledge Scott and everyone at Fi for all the hardwork, I know as Fi has been growing I'm sure your hours have been too. Keep up the great work and keep doing what you're doing!! All of us "bassheads really appreciate everything you do" Thanks again for giving me the loudest car on campus. (the kid with the w7 can now kiss my ass.)

    BTL Wall

I dunno man, the box I built for my 15 Q, which is 4.8 cuft after port and displacement, i threw a little 150 watt 12 in it while waiting on the Q to arrive and the thing absolutely slammed. I dont really see a reason to not do it, just make sure you get the daily option on those BTL's, someone else has already made the mistake of getting the spl option when really using them for daily's. I mean if you want to try it go ahead, always nice to experiment a little, but honestly if it was my i'd do 3 cubes per sub, should make them a little punchier i think...
