yes, I know I only use the programs a a guidleline, which usually works out pretty good, but it would just be interesting to see compared to the regular BTL, plus you telling me I don't need the parameters still doesn't answer if I should use the same box designs as the original. J/W xmax, and if same size box is correct, and FS, and box tuning. would be nice to have some guidelines posted, to ease calls and e-mails to you guys. I know you have a lot going on, and I'm patient, keep up the good work Matt

oops, yeh I was looking at .5 ohm power strapped, 4425, not 1 ohm...lol
-
well as I read through all these posted tests, it seems that strapping the amps gets more power out of each amp that it would get just running by itself. and probably even more if running 4 of them. I like that, considering you get just the opposite results out of many other brands strapping them.
-
j/w wondering any update on the T/S parameters for the BTL? I've designed box for same as what I would old BTL, but still curious to see difference in numbers.
-
ahhh, still plenty of power for a pair of tweets actively, thanks! oh and with all your replies to e-mails and forum posts so prompt, when do you find time to design Jacob? (not like I'm complaing you have no life but serving your customers lol)
-
I will be pulling similar power with four 1500ds, and will be using one 130 amp alternator, and a second 220amp alty, plus a yellow-top as starter batt under hood, backed by 4 kinetik 1800's, which are 1900 amps a piece. so total...350 amps from alty's 8450 amps from batteries. I will also be running 6 100.2's, but that power is all for over-head, so not really pulling much power there... I hope that gives you an idea of what you need....and I'm really trying to get away with the bare minimum. $$$
-
ahhh gotcha, and just out of curiosity Jacob, what about unbridged at 4 ohms? like 150x2?
-
so how much power can that 100.2 really put out? and at what ohms?
-
well here's a hint...that setup will hold a lot more pull than 80 amps....lol
-
yes true, but most setups are not designed for that type of sound, you shouldn't play anything below box tuning. But yes I do know rap doesn't have the lowest bass, just is a good range for most systems. if you like in the hood, try screwed up ft. lil wayne. That song is sick, and of course joc-coffee shop is great too, or lil wayne sky is the limit

for sure two subs for daily, if in a comp and trying to stay in a certain class I can see only running the one sub and trying to push it, but no need for that if you're running a daily setup. Biggest thing is keep your voltage up and your gains set correctly, that way your amps run cool and at their lowest distortion levels, distortion kills speakers, not power.

You definitely want a Fi Q. Get the BP power option, throw it in a ported box, about 4.8cuft tuned to 28 hz. I listen to the same type of music, and Scott helped me out with a box design. I had ~1000 watts on my 15 Q, and it was absolutely insane, the lower the note the louder and harder it hit. gorilla zoe, trae, and yung joc were absolutely obnoxious. The BL doesn't have anywhere near the same xmax as the Q, therefore can't move as much air on the lower notes, and it's Fs is much higher, the Q is a quality sub, quality subs are designed to hit low. I have vids on youtube if you are really curious. http://www.youtube.com/user/mjmarovi don't get me wrong guys a friend has a BL, and it is a great woofer, but for str8 ground pounding some low notes to Lil Wayne, Q's are the clear win.

active or passive? either way I'd say no.1 will be Hybrid Audio Technologies, hardly anyone knows them/runs them, unless you are in the SQ lanes, last year was their debut and they are basically owning SQ like Fi is SPL. I run the legatia series myself in an active setup, amazing!! and they just launched their new clarus line which comes with passive crossovers. Seas and Scanspeak are good too, but I'd put hybrid above them, if you want something a local shop may have, try morel and focal, both make great products, focal's scream, and morel is very smooth. Dynaudio is another awesome brand. ( I do SQ and SPL, so i can help you out quite a bit on this one) A big thing is how much install work you want to do. Your best speakers will take the best install, normally speaking.

hmmm seeing those....can't wait till I order my pair of those

New Escalade Vid: another test run, this time Metallica
mjmarovi replied to meade916's topic in General Fi
ATB- black nights, and darude- feel the beat would be absolutely insane in that thing, of course on crazy nice systems I think techno is a clear win!! Hey meade, has Scott hooked you up with chris from the team for the alternator programmer thing he's got going on? it's called missing link audio. awesome product, helps get the most out of the alty's, Scott was telling me about it at SBN, something I'm definitely doing on my next build... -
Future System
mjmarovi replied to cjosisek90's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
the yellow-top would be a fine starter batt, and the 200a alt will be sufficient. If you leave it at that, I'd say you can run that amp at high volume for all of 30 seconds. If you're lucky, that batt only has 850 cc amps. you really need about 3-4k amps to be able to play a 3000d and be able to actually play it daily with music non-stop. like two kinetik hc2000's or something to back it up. Otherwise your play time will be very limited. So alty fine, but batts you need big upgrade. and also check out missinglinkaudio.com for a voltage regulator for your alty, you want to make sure your batts are getting fully charged. After all that (I know not cheap), you will be able to push that amp pretty hard. -
six 3000d's, 18k watts? I'm thinking more along the lines of 21-22k watts, even after dropping below 14 volts we all know those things are beasts, how many batts you going to use? like 10 kinetik hc2400's? LOL going to be insane!!

didn't you just finish the 18 15's?

2002 Caddy on bagz...8 Fi BTL 18's, 2 RF T15k amps (new vid pg 31)
mjmarovi replied to meade916's topic in General Fi
looks nice! I actually thought you would be putting more power on the subs though, But I suppose no matter how big the amp is it is still a 4-channel amp and only has soo many terminals...Looks awesome meade and I'm sure it's unbearable to sit in and crank. -
LOL completely agree, I have full faith in Scott, and actually love the new look, like he said, it no longer looks like everything else out there. Will be very interesting to see how these do next to the new Sundown Nightshades. Nightshades are another triple stacked magnet design, and sort of meant to compete with the BTL in case no one has heard... Both look great, but my hat's off to Scott with the ingenuity. I can't imagine how hard these baby's slap, I wonder what kind of power THESE BABIES will be to handle....

I got something shipped from by the canadian border, on the canada side, and it took 2 1/2 weeks to get to Fl, USPS is crazy slow with international. Which then crosses to canadian post which sadly isn't a whole lot better.

Thumper, why in your signature you say you are only setup with 12's doing a hair trick?? just curious cause I've sat in and seen many vehicles with 12's doing hair tricks....oh, and just a thought, have you tried physically calling Fi to speak with Scott himself? I bet not, you are lazy, and don't follow up and are too full of yourself and your shop, you'd rather just blame someone else cause it's easier. You think because you have a shop that gives you free rain to call out anyone you want and say, " well I own a shop and I would never do that" don't tell me you never had a customer that got upset and was a complete jerk-off. Like all this matters, what are you going to switch to? ascendant? not like anyone else is taking home the trophies.... Scott, Nick, sorry for the "rant" didn't mean to my fingers automatically hit reply and started typing. Oh yes, and Meade, congrats on the new woofers man, you are the reason I found Fi. I expect a full review shortly of how they perform, and review as in pre-brake in and brake in DB meters.

I like it, going the tech route rather than the "muscle" route, doesn't look as beefy but looks damn good

nice man, what are the box specs?
