to properly power the BTL's you would need a whole lot more. and probably more than what you are looking to do. the mtx's are good woofers, but I think def. lack the performance of the Q. the mtx or the Q would have better SQ than the BTL, but not hit as hard (if you put the power them). sounds like you want something loud, clear, and ground pounding. two Q 15's without BP power would do just fine on that amp. The BTL is a 2000wrms woofer and that single amp can probably, at 14v get at most 1700 of clean power from what i've seen with them in the past. over 800rms of clean power will get the Q's moving quite nicely. depending on how low you want to go, i've used a Q 15" tuned to 28hz and hit everything I wanted. the 9515's, i have heard sided by side comparison to my Q 15, both powered well and everything and the Q simply out-performed, SQ and volume.

Two Head Units...One Car? Anyone know how?
mjmarovi posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm currently installing a rather large system in my car, and using an alpine ida-x001 as the main unit. Only problem is the unit does not have a CD player, and I really don't wanna deal with a seperate CD changer to hook up to it. i have another alpine deck with tilt, the CDA- 9851. Not sure if i would need some sort of switch-board for all the RCA-s or not. I would like to be able to use either deck and still have full usability of every part of the system. So having both decks would def. be ideal. -
Two Head Units...One Car? Anyone know how?

nah don't plan on any dvd's, system will probably be hitting a little too hard to put tv's anywhere except the dash, thought about the aux input, i think i'm just gonna go with that. i'll use some really short monster cable rca's to connect the decks. other thing i could do, since i'm using a fosgate processor, is run pre-outs from one deck straight to the processor, didn't think of that either, lol, alright think i know what to do now, i guess it's a lot simpler than i thought thanks guys, hopefully i will be posting pics of the build soon, i just want to be close to fnished before i start posting pics. -
not that i don't mind the rock music, but it doesn't exactly show off the system lol

i have a 99' infiniti i30 so basically exact same body as your car. i am putting two 15" BL's in mine. i just cut out my rear deck today, then will have the fifteens inverted, and using most of the trunk with just enough room to put a battery rack and run wires in front of the box i got it to 9 cubes before displacement with just about 100 square inches of port. tuning to 33 hz since i'm sure someone will ask. and i'm also doing some extra stuff just to make my square port work, i hope you know what you are doing if you are going to put two in the back of yours as well, my car is stripped and i'm building the box into the trunk, i just don't want you to think you can build a box for two fifteens like that ported and be able to remove it from your trunk as you please. lol but if you want any help/tips or anything then feel free to message me as i'm working on the build as we speak.

sweet Jacob let me know when they come in I am ready to pick up a few

i was about to e-mail you again about the E8's, still no stock?? man, i was waiting to order the amps with the 8's, but how much longer you think?
-
both the Q and the SSD have a pole vent (I own a 15" Q), when I tried out a sealed box with mine it was just under 3 inches from the back panel, and sounded terrific! I would say at least 1.5" It makes a difference on the low notes when the woofer is moving a lot of air...
-
oh yeh, I had no issues, ran it for ~6 months, then sold to a friend, still pounding just fine for him ~4 cubes tuned to 28hz.
-
I would leave it in that box, that's perfect, I ran mine, 15" Q w/bp D2 on a fosgate p1000-1bd in 4.8cuft tuned to 28hz, absolutely slammed, you just have to be careful with clipping, I had upgraded alty and and a yellow-top under the hood and in the trunk with big 3 done, so I could get a true 1kw out of the amp, and be clean power. You will probably be a little louder than mine was, but I never heard a system get low on gorilla zoe until I built that box!! LOL
-
yeh those 1500d's are perfect, IMO, I think you will have to be careful with that 40.1, but like nick said, it's how you do it, i mean if you got a big low tuned box and blast ur music up all the way then no, doubt they will last long, just have to be smart about it, i think it will be nice to have the head room though, that way you don't over stress the amp.

2002 Caddy on bagz...8 Fi BTL 18's, 2 RF T15k amps (new vid pg 31)

absolutely love it that really makes it look sick from the exterior now!! -
for better answers check out the official hybrid audio forum, www.buwaldahybrids.com he has a lot of good stuff on there, and most of the team memers also post on there. FYI Scott did a ton of testing with those, and I believe he said the tweet could play down to 3khz if you really wanted, but for best performance 5 khz was used, 4.5khz was very close as I believe he almost went with that when designing the passives. See, he posted things he was doing with the clarus series on his own forum before they came out.
-
wow, I am a big SQ guy, and guys let me tell you this is absolutely amazing! now someone can actually run a set of speakers without passives, a near active system, absolutely awesome! Just remember though guys you don't have to wait to buy one if you aren't going to be using this feature, In my case for example, I'm using a processor to actively xover my frequencies for my front stage. In thise case, my ideal amplifier would have no xovers on it, or limited capabilites since I would want its main purpose to deliver nothing but clean power. Now talk about rare flexibility, 24db is so HUGE!!! that's what is needed to safely xover tweets and mids. Very few amps on the market offer anything to this quality, zapco, genesis, and rockford fosgate power series and 25 to life series have this and maybe us amps, but that's all I can think of that do. oh yes MOST EXCELLENT JACOB WELL DONE!!

your neighborhood depends on the signing, and your UPS guys, not who sends it out

Curious about Amp for Legatia L841-3 active?
mjmarovi replied to Smondo17's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
basically, it depends on your goals, I like a lot of over head, so I will be running a sundown sax-100.2 on each driver. IMO that is by no means necessary though, a sax 100.4 and a 100.2 would def. be sufficient, but I like to get plenty loud without pushing my equipment anywhere near their limits. -
well port area is always something to play with, but too much will def. decrease the pressure. .2 db, super easy to achieve, deadening and just plain sealing stuff up can do that, and raising voltage, just from looking at it, IMO it doesn't look like besides box design/and amps you've done a whole lot to the car. you could consult jacob on this, but i bet just getting the amps off the box would help them perform better and give you that extra .2 db.
-
my suggestion is this....take measurements!! lol it's the best thing to do, figure out exactly what airspace you want for the Q's for whatever goal you have. then figure out how much space you need for the amps/battery. I mean my same idea would for all subs facing up, because you could make the sealed box longer, like the length of the cargo space and put the amps under it. i mean bascially figure out how much height you have to work with from the floor to the window sill, then see how high you need for clearance for the amps, then box tall enough to fit the woofers. then just make the box as long as you need for x amount of air-space. the only reason I like that idea for your vehicle, is it would give your system a cleaner look. it would hid wires, and not look so chopped up. I mean i like your setup, but I think you have a lot of room to work with and really make it look nice!
-
wow that 40 bucks adds a lot, i guess we were both right lol
-
that's a great setup, it really just depends on how loud you want it, it's all on goals, if deep, rich, accurate SQ is the goal, then you got the perfect setup, BP power would lower the performance of the woofer in a sealed box. if you want a loud ground pounder, then BP power, low tuned ported box, and a 1500 watt amp would be great. dakotap- I believe the BP power option actually adds more spiders to strengthen the motor structure which is why it doesn't do as well in a sealed box with the option. the metallic plug is a newer option the H sink or something for 10 bucks. can't remember what term they used on the site.
-
At that point I would just build a wall and port them, or build a ported box with all subs face up, and put the box on stilts and put the amps under the box. then use glow fans for cooling and looks under the box, but that's me and I like to be fancy. I'm sure it's loud, just seems that if you are going to use that much space, put it to good use.
-
did you get the BP power option? if so than you can feed it more power, like the saz-1500d, that would get full potential out of the Q.
-
wow Jacob, I basically live in Ft. Myers, well they call it Estero/Bonita Springs, but it's like the nice area of south Fort Myers. Congratulations to your brother I'm sure you are very excited as well. Enjoy the trip down here, I absolutely love this area better than any other in Florida and I've been all over FL. Weather has been great, but bring your umbrella we get rain evey afternoon.

I say make sure you electrical and handle it, and drop that bitch to .5 ohms, sundown amps are very solid, and although not warrantied, if your electrical will keep the voltage up, you could get 1300 watts to that sub with that amp np. that's my opinion. changing coils IMO is basically a waste of time. for all that time/money you would most likely be disappointed, grab an extra battery, entry-level powermaster/kinetik, and drop it to .5 ohm. just have to make sure amp is in a cool spot. and if that doesn't do it for ya man, cone area is the absolute best way to increase volume.
