Sure looks to me like it's just the surround covering them. Try what I said earlier. Poke through from the back so you match the hole. Then poke it from the top to clear it up a bit. Put the gasket on and mount. Don't stress too much it's just foam
-
Sounds like a sweet setup you got there. Try up loading to the gallery on here if you can't photobucket them over.
-
The surround may cover the mounting holes. Take a pair of scissors and twist them in the hole. Take the gasket off first. Should be good to go what sub did you get btw?
-
The gasket may have just turned it sounds like. Don't drill holes in anything. Post a pic if you can.

No one would know better than Q. Should be awesome! I've been waiting on a pair of 12" can't wait to see how they do.
-
I'm guessing it's more of an sq type of build?

Try madisound.com seems to be one of the more popular sites. I'm sure there's more options but that's the only one popping into my head right now.

FYI. DSS has a layaway option. Min $50 per month over the course of 4 months iirc. Just picked up 2 12" ethos. Q is very knowledgable and extremely helpful. Just sayin...

I just bought the 80 prs and yes you can turn off the internal amp. The only noticeable difference has been heat. Without the amp on it doesn't get so hot so fast. That's about it. Might I just add the the more you have to mess with, the more you have to mess up. Eq, slope, t/a and so on. It's incredible how much little changes affect everything.
-
Your still over complicating this. Run gains at max for all the amp cares. When you hear stress in the system, turn the volume down. Problem solved. Unhook the RCA from the amp and put a dmm in its place. Now play music, the voltage will change with the music being played. I highly doubt you will see whatever the h/u voltage rating claimed. ( not saying this is an accurate way to do this as the meter won't react in real time to the music) Most people play something they listen to a lot, turn the volume up to about 3/4 volume and tweak the gain till stress is heard. When you do back up the gain a bit. If on another song you start hearing stress on the system. Again turn down the volume. It's not as hard as people make it seem.

In theory setting gains with an o scope and test tone is a good idea. However how much music do you listen to that only plays one note? Guys chasing numbers only would find that method useful but in the real world on a daily driver it gets you nowhere. Add to that most music is distorted by design. Think about it guitars and synths and such are passed through distortion pedals to achieve a sound the artist wanted. Trying to listen for distortion by sitting in front of the speaker is futile. Even at low volumes it's still there. Now listening for overdriving a speaker is easy. That's why it's repeated to set gains by ear. It's the most accurate method.

Ethos dual 12 enclosure 39w x 16h x 19.75d

I could just build it and slide it back a few inches. That was the original plan anyway. I was just curious if it could be done. Thanks again everyone. -

I'll have to post pics after work but, the opening into the car is a trapezoid. 17" tall 40" wide at the bottom and 30" tall at the top. The box HAS to face into the car because ford in all of their infinite wisdom made the trunk latch completely electric. With my 12" bl I've shattered it once already. The release handles to drop the seat backs are in the trunk. So... Needless to say it turns into a night mare trying to open the trunk with the emergency release handle when you can't see it. I had to use a camera snake and my slim Jim tools to reopen it. -

I guess not. Photobucket says I already have an account. I never signed up for one tho. Is there a different option? I haven't been able to find a pic on google images that would work either. -

This box was loosely based on measurements I gave Q. I've got 1 of 2 on order. Rather than repeatedly bothering him, I'll ask the masses, can this box be modified to be a center port using the same external dimensions? I'm not all that adept at designing boxes. My only concern is this will be front firing. With the port on the end it will be mostly blocked by the structure of my car. Any help appreciated. -
The way I did the baffles will probably draw some critics but, I bought heavy plastic cutting boards from Walmart. Traced the 4x6 opening from the inner liner and adjusted as needed to fit the 6.5 and hacked away. Worked out really well honestly. Even got to reuse some of the factory screw holes to mount it.
-
It's good to see ford finally move on from 4x6 stuff tho. Building a baffle was kind of a beeatch on my focus. Best of luck

Without sound deadening done you will probably lose some mid bass. The factory speakers usually come sealed off or some type of enclosure integrated on the basket. After changing highs and midrange will be noticeably better but you will notice a gap in sound at mid bass levels. Having said that I run crescendo cz 6.5 comps and love them. I hear the ia 6.5 is a good set as well. Neither option will do much better without deadening first.

Sounds vaguely like early amps. Before anti thump turn on. I'm with m5 on this. Double check wires and connections.

Try Sepultura "Ambush". The whole roots album is pretty sweet on a good system but that song seems to just get better and better the louder you play it.

Datsik - let it burn Getter - psycho Decaf - downtown Bratkilla - masterbating flesh collector The last one has a bad name but what I use for bass race

I've got 1 12" bl. It's a low end monster, I don't know where the lacking lows would come into play. If you tune @ 31 like you said, the lows will devastate your ear drums. Mine is at 32 hz. The bl seems to shine from about 40 hz down. Although car acoustics will play a role the bl would be an awesome option. -
Theres a section under spl/sq fabrication of a list with bunch of the favs from people on here. Check it out and see if it leads you anywhere.
-
Getter, bratkilla. My go to for bass race comp. it's an "oh dear god" kind of bass line on pretty much all of the songs by either artist. No words tho.

If space becomes too much of a concern, you could go sealed. It would clear some room for you. Don't let anybody b/s you about sealed. Will you win a trophy for deebees, probably not. They do get loud as balls still. With a sealed setup you could probably fit the 15 you talked about earlier.
