Hi Im very interested in getting my TC-3hp motor rebuilt. I was wondering if you could come up with a recone kit for it. I have the TC-3000 top assmbly. Would you be able to re-use the basket? Would I need to send the motor in or would you be able to send out a re-cone kit? What would the costs be? basically the former on the TC soft parts seperated from the titanium cone. I have had nothing but problems with the TC soft parts. I definitely want a fiber, paper, or plastic cone. The box I am using is 2.94 cubic feet tuned to 34 hz with 56 square inches of port and I am shooting for around 1500 watts rms power handling. Do I have any options with the recone kit?

Does IA recone other companies motors?

I genuinely hate TC sounds soft parts Im looking for soft parts that will last. I still want some good options. TC's Glue ALWAYS fails on me. ALways. I know IA and Fi both have good soft parts. -

Hi, I was very interested in having Fi rebuild my tc-3000 I dont know what re-cone kits you all have available or any specs on them. I would much rather deal over the phone if possible. It is a tc-3hp motor with the quick swap basket. It is 15" and I would like it to remain 15" the box I am using is 2.94 cubic feet tuned to 34 hz with 56 square inches of port. I would like the re-cone to be able to handle around 1500 watts at 1 ohm. What do you all have available, what are the prices, and would I have to send it in to you? Would I use my existing basket or would that need to be replaced?

Sounds good man, is the btl a 3" coil?
-
Will you be able to meet my power handling needs? Would I get my choice of color in dust cap. What would the recone kit be most similar to?
-
Thanks for the reply what can you do as far as a recone? Do I have any options?

Any chance that enough of these have been done that you guys could send out a recone kit or would I have to send the motor in? I am not happy with the power handling offered by the TC Sounds top assembly.

I have a pair of Infinity Kappa 60.9 components. The left tweeter fried after a week. I cannot figure out why. I was feeding them around 80 watts and they seemed to shine. Anyway I am looking to replace the tweeters with something better. I need something large to fill the huge 2 3/8 inch mounting hole from the infinitys. and it needs to be 4 ohm. I am going to cross it over at 3.5khz. Please help me find something. My budget is tight. I cannot go over 25 bucks a pop. I found these and they seem to fit the bill. Anybody have anything to say about peerless? http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_i...roducts_id=8500 Also keep in mind. I am in college, which is worse than preschool. I cant have anything with an exposed dome or it will end up pushed in.

Bump any help? Is there any other reccomendations? $20ish and it has to have a grille.

Neither is better for a car or a truck/suv. You build an enclosure to suit your ears and your drivers. A ported box will definitely go low if tuned that way. 28-36 hz tuning frequency will give you plenty of output down low. You can go around an octave lower than your tuning point before output suffers and you have problems with over excursion.
-
JBL does, but they are owned by Harmon Kardon as well.

I would consider anything from 130-150 a loud daily car. At these high levels permanent hearing damage will happen gradually. My truck is in the low fortys and I have a permanent ringing as is.
-
You can get to a moderately high volume and retain decent listenable quality. It may not be a sound quality set-up, but it will retain enough sound quality to listen to daily and not fatigue your ears. That is what is meant by LOUD SOUND QUALITY. Argue about it all you want, but MOST end users are not looking for a specific spl set-up or a specific sq set-up. MOST people want an acceptable middle ground between the two. That being said he listed the mojos as being acceptable to his ears and they sound horrendous by any standards.
-
Well iirc the mojo was never meant to be sealed. A single ported mojo would handle 2000 watts if you know what you are doing. Q's sealed would work. A single btl or hdc3 would also be a good choice if youre trying to get loud.

Are you building your own boxes or are you buying prefabs? What kind of car is it? Have you considered a single 15 or 18" ported?

Which speakers to power off Alpine CDA-9886???
thacarter546 replied to mwoehr's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
He would be much better off just getting a set of components for the front and amping them. I know that anyone not used to this concept will fight it all the way though. If he absolutely refuses to amp them, then I would highly reccomend The Rockford Fosgate Power series coaxials. -
Lol, everyone and their mom gts those when they blow their stock speakers. They sound awful. Plastic cone, cloth surround. If you have a substage at all you are going to hate them.

Get a set of Pheonix Gold Rsd 6.5cs They are around 65 shipped a set and are amazing for the money! You may end up liking them so much youll just keep em.

Alright ive been messing around with this unit for the past two weeks. It has all the features i was looking for. It has a built in three -way crossover so i can go active later on and it allows the internal amp to be turned off which is nice. The crossover roll off is pretty steep i dont remember what it is off the top of my head. Pros: Tons of features for the price. Color changing screen. Best sounding unit ive messed with yet (Panasonic 7203, pioneer avh-5700dvd, jvc-kdavx1, and a few other units). Internal amp can be shut off. Six 6 volt preouts. Ipod direct connect or thumb drive. Cons:The equalizer leaves much to be desired. The volume is controlled by a slider instead of a knob. The screen is kinda hard to see during the day even with 5% tint. Overall I would rate it at a 9/10. It is an EXCELLENT budget deck. It by no means will compete with the higher end eclipse units or anything like that, but i would put it up against any other deck in the 200-300 dollar range easy. TONS of features and sounds great. Its easy to navigate I really like this unit. I by no means have golden ears or anything like that. This is my subjective opinion and views.

Anybody have any suggestions on drivers? and possibly a off board active crossover, I thought the deck could bandpass the mid? ill have to take a better look at that. EDIT: Okay i re-read my instructions. I can Bandpass the mid for sure. The subwoofer can even be bandpassed with this deck. The tweets only have a high pass filter though. From my understanding i run the mids from 80 hz to 3khz, then the tweets or horns from 3khz up right? What would the slope be set to? its set at 12 from the factory, but can be set to 6 or 18 as well. Wouldnt the 18 be better for pa horns and mids since the mid has a relatively high fs and the horn has a relatively low one or am i looking at this wrong?
-
I ended up getting a clarion 785usb and i have been wanting to go active for a while. I need some help with drivers tho. I really like the Eminence alpha 6 mids and i was looking at selenium horns, but i think theyd be pretty hard to get into the doors. Could you guys reccomend a decent metal dome tweet with a relatively shallow mounting depth that gets pretty darn loud? I have about 50 watts at 4 ohm and 70 at 2 ohm to work with and i think the crossover point would be like 3khz with that mid? oh and budget would be like 25ish for an 8 ohm driver or 40-50ish for a 4 ohm driver.

the horns would be pretty hard for me to find a place for, is there a decent bullet tweet i should take a look at? I do listen to this everyday, so i want it to sound "decent"
