Only time i heard them was in an audio shop All of ours here suck big time. It was in the JL HO box or whatever they call it now. IT was the loaded box with the 13 w1 i listened to all of em up to the w7. The w0 and w1 sounded terrible to me they just had no power. it was like someone taped a piece of paper to a box and was tapping on it. They were all ran off of a jl 1000/1 in a demo room i couldnt tell you if everything was done up correctly or not.

Back seats will remain in the truck as of right now might take them out for battery placement, but the seats are part of my rear side trim and i want it to look presentable (to the best of my abilities). I have about 3 cubic feet i can fit comfortably. As for the box designs i was looking either at a slot ported box 2.5-8 tuned to 36 hz, a pvc ported box 2.0-2.5 cubes with 2 4 inch external pvc ports, or a dual chambered ported box up to 3.0 cubic feet (would be my first time designing one i assume 4 inch pvc would probably be what i would use and i would need some help designing. Each would be run off my a3000db at 1 ohm getting hopefully 2kw. So far what i have run was two MTX thunder 4500 12"s in 2.5 each tuned to 38 hz off 500 watts (tight budget sounded mediocre at best). My tc-3000 15" with the original ti cone in 5.0 cubes with 100 sq inches of port tuned to 30 off 500 watts (box was decent off that low power but was huge and went up to the top of my toolbox). And currently im running my tc-3000 with the black ti cone in 3.5 cubes with 55 sq inches of port tuned to 36 hz. All were slot ports. Im not a great box designer or builder, but i do what i can with the tools and experience i have. That kinda sums it up hope that helps

Alright ive been looking around at subs for a while now and ive kind of narrowed my search down a bit i want to keep it around 400 bucks if i do a single 12" or under 500 for two 10"s (i can buy one at a time). So the drivers ive been looking at so far are the Mach 5 SPL 12 which already has a triple stack magnet. The btl 12" with the third mag and longer coil (no cooling cant afford it), or two fi Q10"s. I like loud bass. I want to hear the words over the bass, but dont mind if the music is flooded with bass (running four boston coax's til i have money for two sets of components to replace em). This is mostly for daily driving I will be powering it with a PA a3000db (not a great amp but will do 2000 or so at 1 ohm) my electrical consists of two odyssey pc1200's in the cab and a pc 680 under the hood and a 200 amp ac delco alternator (tested out at like 193 amps not bad for the money) and four runs of two gauge welding wire 2 ground 2 pos (I left my run of 4 gauge I was using before as well). Another option would be four Kicker l7 10"s in 3.2 cubes ported or four soundstream t5's I am not looking for an SQ system, but i want something tolerable for daily listening but i wanna be able to turn it up at a car show or in a praking lot and show off. Im also concerned about the spl and btl having such a high Fs how low can these beasts go? I listen to rap, reggae, and r&b the occasional acoustic rock song. I'm Up/Downgrading to a smaller system because i drive an s10 and my 15" tc-3000 in 3.8 cubic feet is just too big for me to fit a passenger comfortably. I really only wantto use 2-3.0 cubes if possible and dont wanna lose alot of output. I do want the sub to be musical and not a fart machine. If you read that thank you and i appreciate any input!

Those w1's sound very very hollow i dont know how to explain it, but i really disliked them, although the w6 and w7 sounded great. Check out a different sub two fi ssd's or RE SE 15"s would do nicer. for an amp look into a kicker zx1000.1 should run you about 250 or so a set of focal polyglass components and a kicker 2 channel for em
-
If he does a single set the RE xxx are pretty nice

Its an ex-cab, and when i say show off im talking about having a passenger in the truck i wanna crank it and not have to worry too much i want something that can take alot of power all day long I also turn it up to the full level where i set my gains almost every time i drive if it makes you feel anybetter I am a total bass head i have my ht for well balanced listening i like alot of bass in my car if that makes sense. Really i want to hear a comparison of the spl-12 and the btl I havent ruled out the two q's, and i know a few people who have em running off the same amp doing nice, im just not sure i want two 10"s and i dont have the room for two 12"s keep in mind i have two batteries and a two amps in the back takin up space and i still have the rear seats although im not sure why. This is the model with the jump seats on the side no third door.

Iraggi has an ebay store that probably has one on there other than that email him Ive heard good things about iraggi? never heard anything bad Have heard some bad things about Excessive amperage but hes a decent guy to deal with
-
I would like to see those in a dual chambered ported enclosure. I dunno why i just like that enclosure type. Nice drivers btw
-
I'll second the alpine sets sounding like crap i hate the sound of anything alpine it just grates my ears for some reason http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=3377 I really like these for that budget http://cgi.ebay.com/RE-AUDIO-RE6-5COMP-6-S...VQQcmdZViewItem Havent heard em look decent though
-
Boston pro's arent too bad i enjoy the sound of those for around this budget Focal has a decent set for 200 the rf powers are loud, but sound hollow Pheonix gold has a good budget set i think it was the RSd65cs Oz and MB quart are supposed to have a decent set, never heard em though If you were looking for alternatives theres a few i still wanna hear cdt, diamond, and crystals budget lines

Actually heard pretty good things about those, so long as you take the time and strap them correctly i dont see why not i dont have any first hand experience with them, but have heard great things about them, if i had to do it over again id rather have two of those than my pa a3000db (not a bad amp, just not a good one) I still would take the kicker over it, but that is a tad over budget and i can understand limited budgets -
Im actually looking at the neo version of those please tell me if you like em.

thacarter546 replied to luckydogg72's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The rd 1750.1 and sundown SAZ1500.1 share the exact same board Both rd and sundown reps told me this it is the same board, puts out the same power -

That may be i dont have any personal experience with them, i just know that when i was looking at them the general consensus was that they ran too hot and burned up frequently plus those went/go on ebay for around 300 havent looked em up in a while http://cgi.ebay.com/Kicker-KX-2500-1-Mono-...1QQcmdZViewItem if you could spring the extra couple bucks for that it would be your best bet those kickers are beasts -

Its not that they have bad products, their products are top quality its just the sales reps and owners are very hard to deal with and when he wouldnt honor that price it really bugged me They lost any business i had planned with them i was contemplating buying a 12" alpha as i am looking to downsize, but he switched prices again just bad business on their part -

Not all units can play video from every source though i know mine cant play videos from my ipod and that bugs me edit: its a pioneer so that didnt help anybody -
I need to make my tc10 happier! What are some good amps??
thacarter546 replied to rex_runner's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical

thought you were getting one 15" disregard what i said, You could look into the new hifonics bxi2607 theyre decent, but only put out 2000 watts or so http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=18538 this amp does a bit more than rated and seems to be real popular for the money you would be overpowering a tad and you would want to get the cooling option on the bls -
Head Unit Decisions...
thacarter546 replied to towny29's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i have the pioneer 5700 and the screen is very clear the pre-amps are strong, and i love the unit with one exception Somewhere along the line the ground plane on the rcas on the pioneer WILL go out causing you to ground the rcas which bothers me i will never buy another pioneer deck for that reason so my vote goes to the kenwood -

thacarter546 replied to luckydogg72's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Its the same boards as sundown but they charge more he told me he would charge me 350 shipped for a 1750.1 then later told me he never told me that and the lowest he would go is 425 i would never buy from them, but it is definantly a good product -

thacarter546 replied to mazzasec's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
They suck they used cheap components in em the pca series isnt all that great i know the 3500's have an extraordinary defect rate I would look for an autotek mm2000.1, or a lanzar opti2000, or a sundown 1500 at 1/2 ohm btw you might wanna look at a btl if your looking at running 2kw overpowering a sub by a kw is tricky and cant be run all day long -
Do you have any experience with the btl? and how do they compare? I am kinda favoring this because it already has the 3rd magnet and it looks like a compareable btl would run me 409 shipped and this is 340 i love the sound of my truck now i just cant comfortably fit a passenger which sucks sorry for threadjacking man
-
I dont mean to threadjack here but i wanted to ask, how safe is it running the btl's daily, if you throw 2000 watts on one and cruise around for four hours will it do alright, will it get real hot given you have the proper electrical and its in a proper box with the ssf set one octave below tuning?
-
I know in some spl subs the gap is very tight which can cause problems when ran daily is that true with this one? also will it perform decent in a smaller box 2.5-3.0 cubes im trying to downsize without losing any loudness and hopefully not too much sq. Sorry for the newb questions i know just enough to get myself into trouble
-
any more input on how it sounds? I'm trying to decide between one of these a 12" btl or two 10" q's off 2000 watts i cant decide
