    SA-8 for SQ?

They roll quite well with small airspace and a 36-38hz tune subsonic set at 30hz. Just did a (3)sa-8 setup in a 2010 camaro built to 1.65 internal with 4" external aero, good attack smooth response, plenty of output.

    Lots of 18s

4th order eh, gotta love it. at 50 hz its gonna feel like an airbag hitting your dome, at 40 hza choke slam from the big show, at 30 hz a roller coaster ride from hell, and 20 hz time to change your tidy whities.

    Trade-In Program

jacob, brilliant idea and it works. sound check in lafayette does this and dave and myself started doing this over the summer.

    Ordering new BTL???

lets not throw stones people. like the sign on the drive up window at Niro's Gyro's says, "our food is fresh, fresh is not always fast". scott's new design is still fresh.

    NightShades Installed. #s Inside.

did you also remember to: eat you Wheaties. build a pilgrimage to Mecca. not step on any cracks (breaking mommas backs will cost a db). and dont forget to check your engine oil, viscocity breakdown can cost tenths. i think the numbers are plenty impressive for full range, 350 sq. in. of cone, and 3k of power.
  8. check your e-mail jacob, the long drawn out rambling on and on e-mail i sent.

    1500D's strapped

i have a little. i did a box for a pair of 9500 12" dual 4 ohms a few years back. it was an olds alero with stock alt and 3 yellow tops in the trunk running a pair of memphis mojo 2000d's. port was on pass side of trunk firing to the rear with the subs, box was 4.5 internal not counting port or sub displacements. the car didnt meter super great but i cant claim that fairly cause the shop i did boxes for at the time uses an old audiocontrol and they like to play with the -/+ 10 db knob on certain cars (if you got cash and they want you to spend more of it, they turn it down. if you dont buy from them, they turn it down. if you have two memphis M3 15's in a prefab forted box on a power ref 1000d and you drive a soft top isuzu rodeo and work there, you hit 163). i know the owner of the car abuses the crap out of his equipment and the subs held up to both the mojo amps for a over a year but he totaled the car and i have no idea where the enclosure and amps went next. i wish he had it last year cause that "163 db" rodeo got on a termlab at a real show and couldnt get it past 140.6, he got out the car and started yelling at other competitors "i hit 163 on our shop mic you guys are cheating!!!" ignorance is bliss. anyways, good luck on the score and feed all the power you want into that 9500, the cones break before the coils do.

Lord Baccus, im not sure what Jeremy's box tuning is like but he was stuck using 80 amps of fusing and no maxi fuses allowed. thats pretty amazing for a headrest score on a 3000d with so little of fuse. Brocks Monte Carlo did a 151.4 at the headrest at 34 hz, he was running a single 120 amp mini anl fuse to his 3000d and he ran the 5 minute demo time they gave us on that fuse too. the fuse is still in and has been played on for well over 30 minutes (he has the subs out right now). i have had his car break 155's in the kick at 36 hz but no fuse limitations. i am the only one in the group running a single sub (fi Q 18") and i did a 149.3 headrest style at 32 hz off of a single 1500d. i only have a 1.5 db loss across the 30 hz to 50 hz spectrum but im a wide musical range 6th order bandpass thats bigger than my refridgerator. i have never metered in the kick but i doubt i get it very good down there. now with my soft top on the tracker my "legal sealed on the dash" score is almost a db over my headrest score which is cool. i think it is amazing that both Jeremy and Brock can run so little fusing to their 3000d's and get the output they have. i know in basic testing my single 1500d would eat 60 amp fuses pretty quick but i was getting 1550 clamp meter tested watts at a 1.7 ohm load.

actually andy's car just sounded better on the 70 point judging scale vs. the other 2 cars in his class. speaker placement, tuning, and sound preference can be a double edged sword when you are being judged by the human ear. on another note i cant wait to change out my midbass, mid, and high amps out to sundown. brock didnt mention i ran SQ at casper, modex+ class. the 1500d had amazing control, one 1/4 turn down on the gain knob and 22 cubes of 6th order bandpass turned into 50hz on down of audio bliss.

    Fatmat is a hoax......

project car me and a friend are working on is all fatmat, worked good. he ordered it and didnt have any issues. rollers, razors all came (junky but did the job) and it was packed pretty good. i do recall it being very expensive but he ordered like 200 sq ft.

    Box design help

i dont think you have to divide the box or go with a dual port but thats all personal pref. when it comes to box building and design. the sundown saz-3000 can deliver some power so you want to build the box optimized for power handling. if it was a one chambered box id do 3.5 cubes (not counting port yet but counting sub) and 12x3x36.5 deep port which is a pretty deep port and is going to "L" inside the box. with the power you're running sealed is a nice option too.

    Btl port area.

well 27x27x21 if completely doubled up (.75 MDF doubled up) gives you 6 cubes to work with internal. if you plan on really powering the BTL hard i would double the box up and go with the 32 hz tune but if you are not planning to drive full tilt wattage to the sub then i would double the sub side and the piece behind it and brace the rest (which will give you a little more space to work with internal) but leave the tuning within 32 to 36 hz range. if the internal was 7 cubes total to work with and you did a port roughly 18x4.5x20 to 22.5 deep you would come out smooth.

In need of a box design

2.7@32hz should be really smooth and mean down in the lows. maybe bump the cubes up but 3 to 3.25 is big on a 12" Q and might be peaky. looking at the situation and the type of vehicle i think you are right in trying the CRX style box, i dont think the issue is tuning but the way the box works with the car.
