    NESPL night shows in NH

This Saturday, November 7th will be the final NESPL event of the 2009 season. Registration time is 6PM, we'll be running til around 9PM and fee's will be $10 per run.
  2. The 2nd Nashua night show for Boomer McLoud will be this coming Saturday at 8pm at the Army National Guard base, 154 Daniel Webster Highway Nashua NH. There will be a limited number of classes available. What Boomer plans to run are both Amateur classes, and Stock 1-3. Anyone with a Stock 4 class system will be merged in to the Stock 3 class for this event only. All Super Stock and No Wall Open class competitors that want to come out are more than welcome to attend, but will receive a plaque instead of the trophy. Boomer will be supplying the trophies for 1st and 2nd place and we'll supply the plaques for all 3rd place competitors. These night shows will also run at a reduced rate for competitors. We'll be running things at $10 per run, instead of the minimum $20 fee. We'll be running the SPL portion and Boomer will run the Sound Quality portion of the show. These shows are always a great time to come out and compete, and they're at night too so it's cooler. There are two of these shows left at Nashua, this Saturday the 8th and also Saturday Sept 12th. On August 29th we'll be running another night show at Hurlbert Toyota/Scion in Epping NH. These shows start at 7pm and are also a great time to come out. These shows are part of the AfterShock Car Show series, we've had one already and there are two shows left. As with the Boomer shows, AfterShock will be supplying the plaques to all 1st and 2nd place competitors in the Amateur and Stock classes. We will take care of the plaques for all 3rd place competitors as well as all 1st, 2nd and 3rd place competitors in the Super Stock and No Wall open classes. The dealership is at 58 Calef Highway, Epping, NH 03042. This is the intersection of Rtes 101 and 125. The event registration fee's for these shows will also be $10 per run. This show is also part of a car show, and there will be sponsors on hand with things to sell or give out. At the first show, Monster Energy drinks were there handing out free drinks to all, I'd like to see them there again but I don't really know who's gonna be there this time. Hope to see you all there.

You gonna do this in No-Wall or a Street Class?

Best fasteners for high SPL builds

To each his own. I've built maybe 10 different SPL enclosures using this, and screws and never had any of hem leak. I've used this with several daily boxes too, and still no leaks or any other issues. Liquid nails works fine along with screws, I wouldn't use it on it's own though, and having plenty of pressure applied to each of the panels is a must whether your using wood glue or liquid nails. You'd need to have a few of those really long wood clamps to do it right. The box I have in my ride right now was done with wood glue, no nails, screws or anything else and it's very strong.

Best fasteners for high SPL builds

I've heard of using wax over the resin, but never heard of Armor All. Armor All is used on the interior of the vehicle around here, good for a few 10ths of a db.

Best fasteners for high SPL builds

I've always built mine using the liquid nails as a glue between all the pieces, then used the coarse drywall screws to hold everything together. When everything is all dry and cured, I usually end up applying a layer resin to the entire inside of the enclosure, but thats only with the SPL ones.
  8. Shh, it's a secret. I sent him the contact info, now it's up to them to seal the deal.
  9. If anyone is looking for an SPL car, Mike Houde is selling his Yugo, wants only $300 for the car, or $600 and he'll leave the Kenwood headunit and the 6 runs of 0 ga in it.
  10. SmokeyDog has them posted on YouTube, I'll look around for the links later on.
  11. There is a video of one of your runs, but not with the gasket coming out.
  12. If your thinking of going with the No Wall classes instead of the Stock 3 class then maybe running four 12's, or six 10's and a lot more power would get you closer to your goal. Enclosure design and power will be your biggest issue. I know Mike Travassos has been running four 12" DC SoundLab subs, can't remember if they were the level 4XL's or the level 5's., anyway, he's been the loudest in the No Wall class this season, he did a 154.0 in No Wall and a 152.6 in Slammin Bass. Thats also with a pair of American Bass 500.1's, pretty much twice the size of your current set up. It will be some work for you, but I don't see why you can't do a 155 in that car. At least you have a good goal and intend to make it. Now if you can keep your windshield gasket from coming out again you'll be much better.
  13. There are no rules pertaining to going between classes during the season or at all. It was something that never came up during the season, or at the beginning of the season when the rules were made. If someone thats been competing for a full season in either NESPL or another org was to sign up for Amateur I wouldn't allow them to, it's not a rule but it is something i would enforce if needed. For the 2010 season I will have a rule in place for something like this. Another issue will come up with the new Amateur classes for next season. If I do add the Amateur 3 class then I will go by surface area and not by power as I've done this season. Also, I will be adding a rule for those that attend a show with more than one vehicle, rules on that won't be posted til next year. There are a few people in the Amateur, Stock and Super Stock classes that have more than one vehicle, so we want to make sure they aren't bringing both vehicles and putting them in the same class, that wouldn't be fair to everyone else. Something we will also have next year is someone to actually go around and verify the equipment being used in the Amateur and Stock classes, to make sure people are really in the correct classes. I will also be using the sensor jig on a regular basis too.
  14. Your gonna have to find a new vehicle along with a totally new set up to hit the 160 mark, it's a lot harder than you think. Look at Keith, he's got a wall with two 15's and two SS 10K's to each sub and he can't get over 158. You'll learn that once you hit a certain level you'll have to double your power to gain 1 db.
  15. It's all just ideas for right now, I won't have anything set for a couple months. If I get rid of Stock 4 then I'll keep the Super Stock 3 class. I don't want to offer more than 10 classes, so if I get rid of the Stock 4 class and add an Amateur 3 class then I can keep it at 10 classes. Stock 4 is never full, it usually gets one or two people at the big shows, and the same with the No Wall class. By getting rid of the Stock 4 class and pushing them into the No Wall class it will fill up a class instead of having two classes with 1 or two in each, and it will allow a couple more Amateurs to get a trophy in the Amateur 3 class. Your teammates don't have to think about Amateur for next season, I already told them awhile ago they would be allowed to run it next season.
  16. Nah, the sub limits would be the same. So for your system with 4 15's you'd be in the No Wall class. If you do the dB Drags shows you can't compete in the Street Classes, cause you have a van. With drags if you have a van you can compete in Super Street No Wall, Super Street or the Street Max class. But there are also various rules involved with each of those too. Like No wall and the Super Street classes have no battery limits, but Street Max has a 1 battery limit, and walls are also allowed. There are no rules I can see in TNESPL as far as vans, so I guess you can do the WooferCooker classes with the current set up. And for Bill, can't you do the WooferCooker Pro 2 class? The Pro No Wall class allows 18 volt systems, that might be above your level right now.
  17. Funny you mention that, cause that was my original intention behind having an Amateur class. I didn't think SPL guys would bother with the Amateur classes, thats why last season when we started we only had one Amateur class and it was geared more towards the show cars. I may just run 3 Amateur classes anyway, and possibly drop a Super Stock class. I like the Rookie classes with TNESPL, they have a limit of 2000 watts and also limit the subs. Might not be fair for someone like Kyle who needs more subs to get loud, but I really don't expect to see more people coming along with vans that size. Cathy and I are discussing this as I type, what we're thinking of is adding a 3rd Amateur class, and dropping Stock 4. Anyone with a system big enough for Stock 4 can just jump into the no Wall class. No other org has a 4th stock class, so anyone building for Stock 4 would be screwed when they try competing in another org, and next season we're going to look into running more Drags events, as well as TNESPL events. So it would be better for competitors to have all the classes pretty close to each other, maybe just different battery limits or something like that, just to keep us all a little different.
  18. Yes, you will. Right now I'm saying that if you did less than half a season you can still do the Amateur classes, so that would be about 8 shows, if you did more than 8 shows in 2009 you'd have to move up. I may come up with a points system for this next season.
  19. I may go with Amateur classes pretty close to their rookie classes, one class isn't enough thats for sure. Stock classes get about 3 or four per class, the Amateur classes can see as many as 10 per class, I have no problems filling the Amateur classes so I don't mind buying trophies for them. I like the way they use surface area limits along with power limits, and also they use a point system to determine who can compete in their rookie classes. The rules definitely get some getting used to, but since I don't have any plans to form an official membership and hold a Finals people might want to look into those rules so we can bring TNESPL out to New England and give everyone a chance at competing in a Finals. It would be much better than competing against the same guys you see at every show, that would really be competition.
  20. get yourself ready for next season, cause we're going to bring a couple TNESPL shows out this way. If you guys like their format and classes too then we'll look into having a multipoint event as well. Team NorthEast SPL Check out their rules and the classes, see what you think.
  21. 8 or 9 members cars? What did you guys do, find guys on the street and make them members? Don't worry about the points, thats my job.

    false floor.

Here's the only pic I still have loaded, you can still see the cooling fans in this pic. We ended up making another trim panel to hide that part too, but just never took a pic of it.

    false floor.

I'll try and find some pics, but I did a false floor for a friend of mine. He had a 2007 Xb, we put a pair of 10" Pioneer Shallow mount subs, and a Rockford 1001bd in the floor with two small cooling fans on the front and the back of the enclosure. I put a sheet of Lexan over the amp, and blue L.E.D.'s all around the amp. I made a shelf to fit over the floor, gave it about 3-4 inches clearance between the subs and the shelf and the shelf was the same size and shape as he Scion carpet that was there from the factory. If anyone looked in the back window all you'd see was the factory carpet, no box. Downside was he had to pull the spare tire out to fit it all.

    YOUR LOCAL CAR AUDIO SHOPS

I heard of a shop in Portland Maine that did an install of front door speakers. They were smaller that the stock ones and instead of making a custom baffle to mount the new speaker to, they just covered the factory hole with DynaMat and then screwed the speaker right to the DynaMat. This was just of many horror stories I heard about coming from them, just wish I could remember the name of them.
